### "Evaluando Duolingo"

October 24, 2022

5.0

### "A fun way to learn a language"

July 3, 2023

5.0

I have had a positive experience with Duolingo. I have switched from Duolingo to another platform to increase my ability to instinctively connect the foreign language to words/actions without intermediate english translation steps.

Pros

I love how accessible Duolingo is! It is nice that there is a free option to test out before upgrading to a paid track. I love how the program is broken down into bitesized pieces. I learned a good basis of a foreign language I had zero experience with before this program.

Cons

I don't think this way of learning a language is the best option for everyone. This program makes it easier to sound out words and read another language, but doesn't cultivate instinctual understanding of another language. It feels reading and writing heavy and less conversationally based. I think using cartoon characters doesn't connect as well for me.

### "Not the best, but definitely not a bad option - acceptable learning platform for the price"

June 24, 2021

4.0

Overall, I was enjoying learning a new language, but when I reached a point in the program where I needed very much to review what I had already learned, the option was not available, and I actually moved to another platform that prompts me daily to practice my weak words.

Pros

The mobile nature of the platform and the brevity of the individual lessons are very positive aspects. The combination of listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities reinforce what is learned.

Cons

It is very hard to navigate back to retake previous lessons when the memory lapses about words, phrases, and grammar that has been previously learned. It is also not always convenient to speak when learning on the go. The inability to keep moving forward while mobile and returning to speaking or listening activities when the setting is more suitable is a coveted but absent feature.

### "Duolingo is the best and most intuitive app for learning languages the fun way."

November 22, 2022

5.0

Overall I consider it to be the best way to learn a language, both on the website and in the app. Learning is light and often you don't realize you're learning. The visual is quite beautiful and attractive, the colors, the images, audios. Learning becomes easy and the best: free of charge.

Pros

I've been using the app for over 9 years and it was with it that I was able to learn two languages and now I'm taking on an even bigger challenge, which is learning Korean. The practices are always a lot of fun, the audios and images help us to better assimilate the vocabulary and this makes learning practical and efficient.

Cons

A negative point is the difficulty of reporting errors so that they are resolved on time. Mistakes often happen that take away a life and the answer was correct. I know the idea is to have repetitions, but I could change it for more vocabularies and even add basic expressions to improve learning even more.

### "The great Duoling"

May 14, 2022

5.0

Overall my experience was really good. And it's even worth taking more courses in the app, because we always feel like we're playing a game.

Pros

What I like the most is the gamification process. The designs used, the proposed audios... everything was done with great care to make the user experience very comfortable and easy. And we can still interact with other users in a small forum that each lesson has.

Cons

There are few opportunities that I've checked, one being some typos in the answers... simple things to fix.

### "Addictive and fun!"

July 25, 2022

5.0

It's very fun, very modern. The paid subscription Super Duolingo is super affordable as well, but if you can stand ads, you are quite okay with the free version as well. I cannot imagine a better platform to learn a new language on the go, on your phone, tabler, or your PC's browser. Do not expect you to be fluent in a week or a month, but every bit helps. Be patient, enjoy the cute experience and check the Klingon language as well.

Pros

Learning languages with Duolingo sure is fun. I have used it for so many years to learn Czech and Japanese. From the cute interface and animations to the option to draw Japanese symbols on the phone screen, Duolingo offers a free and accessible way for anyone to learn new languages. With their paid Super Duolingo plan, you can get rid of the annoying advertisements - I am one of those impatient people who don't like ads, have unlimited hearts, and you can also have a family plan where you can share the service with your loved ones at a very reasonable price. You can pretty much learn every major language plus some very "exotic" ones such as - Klingon(!!) and High Valyrian (!!!), both very important and useful in our daily lives. I am hoping for Duolingo also to add the option for us to learn Slovenian in the future. It's one of the less used languages but very dear to my heart. The daily quests and the monthly challenges are fun as well and a reason for competitive users to log in more often and do their "daily grind." Without you realizing it, you will learn so many new words by simply spending 15 min per day, or an hour like me.

Cons

I will be honest - since I am a very competitive person, I spend a lot of time grinding for experience (XP) just so I can beat other users and advance in the leagues. Currently, I am in the Sapphire League, but I feel like giving up for a while because the competitive side of me blocks the one that wants to actually learn the language. Maybe don't make the competition and advancing into a higher league that tough?

### "I recommend Duolingo for persons trying to find the easiest way to learn a language."

September 1, 2021

5.0

My overall experience is very good. I normally use Duolingo to Practice Spanish and Mandarin mainly. However, I tend to jump to other languages occasionally to learn some basics in those languages.

Pros

The thing I like most about the Duolingo is that it is free and accessible on mobile phones. The app to me is like playing a game but learning a language at the same time.

Cons

The thing I like the least about Duolingo is that the assessments sometimes are a bit too easy. However, I understand that its necessary since everyone learns at a different pace.

### "Duolingo"

April 24, 2022

5.0

Amazing. I have taken my Spanish, French, and German to new levels. This is thanks to the ease of using the platform and customizing it to my goals in each separate language.

Pros

Learning languages on Duolingo is fun and simplified. The units are bite-size so as to not be overwhelming like the other language apps but also the not so simplified that you don't make meaningful progress. You can customize your learning experience based on your goals for learning the language you choose and I like that a lot. I am learning 3 languages at the same time and each of them has a different goal and allocated length. This is awesome in Duolingo.

Cons

I love Duolingo and it's the best out there in terms of learning a new language. I don't like the fact that they have not incorporated the Podcast into the App. I listen to the podcast on Google Podcasts and I think it would be even better with it in-app because then they can curate the podcast content better, based on everyone's level and fluency in the language.

### "Despertando a vontade de aprender mais"

June 20, 2023

5.0

### "Duolingo -anyone can learn a language with 5-10 min lessons a day"

June 29, 2022

5.0

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Duolingo. I started using it during the COVID19 pandemic, working to teach myself Spanish. I use Spanish at work, and have previously always relied on interpreters. Within a couple of years of short daily lessons I now am able to have some decent use of the language.

Pros

I love that Duolingo offers short lessons, so it doesn't feel like a big time commitment. I love that it starts at your level, if you have previous knowledge of the language. I love that it adds an element of competition in language learning. Additionally, I love that it offers a free version, with few ads, but also offers a paid version (also great value for the money) for those that don't want to watch the ads

Cons

I honestly love Duolingo so much and have recommended to so many friends and co-workers, I cannot think of a disadvantage of this program.

### "An Interactive place to Learn New Languages in a Fun Way"

December 18, 2022

4.0

Duolingo has a knack for inspiring students. All of the app's features, including the daily tasks, leaderboards, progress reports, and peaceful atmosphere, are ideal for my passive learning style. Since the lessons are brief, I typically begin one without devoting a lengthy session to it. So far, the experience has been fantastic.

Pros

You can enroll in a variety of language classes. The way the entire learning process is organized on Duolingo — gamified, soothing, bite-sized courses to dip into whenever, even on the road — is among its most appealing features. Everything is well-organized and simple to use, including progress monitoring, looking back at previously taught materials, leaderboards, and communities for discussion with other learners and professionals. One fantastic aspect is that anyone may start learning any language right away without spending any money and avoiding receiving any advertising.

Cons

The program, in my opinion, is excellent for novices because it provides a solid starting point for language study. However, as you develop into an intermediate or expert level, you start to understand that the software can't really help you much more. The courses start to seem a little too robotic and calculated, which is bad if you want to advance. You will need to forego the app and experiment with different language learning strategies that provide more impromptu learning possibilities. The free version's restrictions are another drawback, but those are to be expected with any application, so we can't strictly blame Duolingo for them. In conclusion, I heartily endorse Duolingo for anyone learning a new language.

### "Best and FREE way to learn languages!"

September 30, 2021

5.0

It is AMAZING because I'm able to polish languages that I already know, and learning new ones wherever and whenever I want.

Pros

That I'm able to choose among many language options, being able to start learning more than 1 language without losing what I've advanced. Also I like that appart from written words, there are sounds of how to pronounce the words, and above all, IT'S FREE!

Cons

Not being able to choose a method of learning in some languages. I want to learn languages like Japanese, but I'm not able to concentrate I'm not able to choose switching from the symbols (hiragana, katakana, kanji) to actual words with letters, that is what I used to see everywhere and try to speak like that.

### "Great for latin based languages, bad for others"

December 21, 2022

4.0

Overall, duolingo is a fast and easy way to learn new languages. Only worth it, however, if you stick with latin based languages. If you have a need or desire to learn something unique like Russian, Ukranian, Arabic, etc, I would steer clear and go with Babble or Rosetta Stone. You won't get far with the lack of a Cyrillic keyboard, for instance. The fact they do not offer this when other language learning companies do is a cop out. I should not have to install something extra on my phone or computer. I should not have to bounce out to a separate window to formulate my text in Russian and copy and paste it into duolingo. Makes it VERY difficult to learn. I am frustrated. This is a fix other companies provide. Rise up and be better.

Pros

Picking up a second language is really easy. The lessons are straight forward, and my Spanish has improved significantly from using duolingo.

Cons

If a language course is going to offer languages that use a non Latin based alphabet -- like Russian, for instance, they should include a Russian keyboard. Babble does this. the lack of this keyboard makes learning clunky if not impossible. I will be canceling my pro plan until they rectify this or switching to Babble where they take the time to do it right.

### "Perfect for increasing your vocabulary"

May 24, 2024

5.0

Pros

I recommend this to everyone I speak to that wants to learn Spanish. It has really helped me increase my vocabulary.

Cons

"Spanish" is actually Mexican Spanish on the app... rather than Castellano which is Spain's main and official language. The world is biggerthan America but some companies don't allow for that in your software. I know that i can still input Castellano but when learning new words it's not helpful.

4.0

### "Duolingo Changed My Life!"

December 15, 2021

5.0

In overall, I love Duolingo. I find myself watching French movies now and understanding something that I never did but of course I still refer to subtitles to confirm that I am on the right track. My reason for learning a new language is for exercising my brain and keeping it sharp.

Pros

For starters, Duolingo is free despite the fact that it teaches you a whole new language, a language that can change your life in terms of improving your cv, giving your brain a sharp memory etc. I like that Duolingo sends me emails or notifications everyday when he realizes I may have forgotten about the lessons because most times I would have. Duolingo has very interesting French lessons that are also part of the lessons. They are really interesting and make you want to continue reading and studying.

Cons

When I am recording my voice in response to what Duo wants me to say, I realize that the speech recognition is not that precise. At times I hear myself pronounce badly and be ready to say it again but Duo does not hear it properly and marks as pronounced properly. The speech recognition is lacking a bit and I believe can be improved.

### "Learn so many languages for free!"

July 8, 2021

5.0

It changed the way I learn. It is so effective and flexible that I can devote few minutes to few hours every day and learn something every day.

Pros

1\. You can learn almost any language in the world for free in a user-friendly manner. 2. Rewards, points, stars, bonuses keep motivating you to learn more. There is no limit on how much you can practice. 3. There are stories, daily practice lessons, grammar tips to help you learn from the very beginning. 4. You can create streaks, double your points, wear attire for the Duo mascot. 5. You can practice, earn points, and clear checkpoints to motivate you. 6. There are listening and speaking exercises too. 7. You have leaderboards to compete. 8. You can follow friends and give them high five to encourage. 9. You can feel proud of the achievement badges that you earn with a lot of hard work. 10. You can clear your doubts by posting to people in the community groups while practicing lessons. 11. You can study multiple languages by adding as many courses as you want.

Cons

1\. There is no video interface to learn the nuances of a language. 2. If you give feedback for wrong sentences in rare cases, you may not hear back soon. 3. You cannot chat with friends you follow. 4. Sometimes you get the same sentences for practice which may defeat the very purpose of learning.

Pros

Pros

Fun and easy to use. This app makes learning a new language easy overall. Gamification is an essential part of what makes this software so good.
