Daily challenges, leaderboards, progress reports, reminders, the app's relaxing theme - everything suits my passive learning style. As the lessons are short in length, I usually get into a lesson without dedicating a long session for it. It has been a great experience so far. Pros A wide range of language courses is available to enroll. One of the most attractive things about Duolingo is the way the entire learning process is set up - Gamified, relaxing bite-sized lessons to dive into anytime, even on the go. Progress tracking, looking back into previously learned contents, leaderboards, community to discuss with other learners/experts - everything is well organized and easily accessible. One great part is, anyone can dive in to learn any language without spending money while staying opted out of any advertisements. Cons While Duolingo gives a way of learning in a fun casual way in a gamified environment, someone who has a higher priority of learning a language over other activities might find Duolingo's pace rather slow. Sometimes the lessons do feel kind of repetitive. Not everyone learns at the same pace, and I think this balancing still has an opportunity for improvement. May 27, 2024 5.0 Een taal leert je door genoeg te oefenen. Duolingo voldoet voor mij aan volgende zaken. Handig in gebruik, motiverend, genoeg herhaling, juiste uitspraak,...... ECHT EEN AANRADER. Ik studeer momenteel engels en ik moest niet helemaal vanaf nul beginnen omdat er in het begin een korte test is om te zien hoe goed je niveau in die specifieke taal al is. Pros 1: Ik heb een paar goede pluspunten voor duolingo want ook tijdens drukke werkdagen kun je gewoon blijven leren omdat het maar 10 minuten per dag duurt. 2: Super handig dat het de woordjes die je minder goed kan steeds laat terugkomen waardoor je ze gaat onthouden. Pros I like that right off the bat I feel like I am learning enought to start using a new language. Cons I wish there were a flashcard or similar system to learn multiple verbs in a section. Some of the verbs are spelled close to the same and I have trouble remembering them without a flash card system of my own. September 29, 2022 5.0 I like that it is a very efficient way to learn a new language. I also like how it is gamified so that it makes it more fun and engaging. Besides, I can enroll in more than one language at a time and keep practicing simultaneously. It has a learning streak which is like if you don't practice for a few days in a row then your progress will go back to down level and you have to start again from the past although you can freeze the streak a few times. Overall it really helped a lot in learning the basics of language. Pros There are many things I like about the Duolingo language learning software. Firstly, it is free which makes it accessible to everyone. Secondly, it is very user-friendly and you can learn at your own pace. Finally, it provides a great way to learn a new language or brush up on your existing language skills. I like that Duolingo offers a variety of languages to choose from. I also appreciate the fact that it uses a game-like format to make language learning fun and engaging. Cons Every product comes with a con but to be frank I didn't find any major cons for the app. Hence it is really enjoyable. But sometimes the repetitive tests may seem boring for the users as the app sometimes brings up the same lessons again and again. The learning process is a bit slow. Per un singolo esercizio ci vogliono letteralmente 3 minuti minimo. Poi gli esercizi sono davvero tanti e difficilmente ciò si annoia. Geniale l'idea delle classifiche così da spronare gli utenti ad esercitarsi. Belli anche le "micro" missioni giornaliere oppure in coppia con amici. In finale è un app che consiglierei davvero a tutti. Pros Le cosa più bella dell'app è sicuramente l'interfaccia grafica, molto coinvolgente e colorata. Inoltre di base è gratuita e consente di seguire percorsi su varie lingue diverse partendo da moltissime lingue di origine. Cons La cosa dove forse si perde l'app è che molte volte il livello degli esercizi non è complesso, per cui fa fare molta pratica su determinati temi, ma tante volte si tratta di esercizi ripetuti si livelli diversi. I find myself recalling words in my head when going about my everyday life which is pretty neat. Pros Overall the app is fun, super easy to use, and challenging. I love that I am in control of what I want to learn. I can learn one language or multiple and at my own pace. The progress rewards spark a competitiveness in me and I find myself wanting to complete just one more. Before I know it, it's been many more! Like I said before, interaction with the app is easy, fun, and the content is challenging which keeps me coming back for more! Cons While I love the software to use for fun, I don't think I would use it as a language learning tool for work or school. Everything was easy to follow and the app itself is quite fun! Pros I like how user friendly and interactive the Duolingo Software is. It’s very easy to track your language learning progress and the layout of the app is very fun. It kinda mimics a game, which is great to hold interest especially for young language learners. I like that you can start to learn a language from scratch using Duolingo. I started learning Italian using the app about 2 years ago and I learned quite a bit of vocabulary and also how to form simple sentences to express myself clearly as a beginner. It’s also impressive how the app provides you with a built in feature that guides you as it relates to the correct pronunciation of verbs. The activities also include listening comprehension which is great when you’re new to a language and don’t exactly have anyone to talk/ listen to. I know there are thousands of free videos on the internet but at times it can be a bit hard and overwhelming to keep up with what the speakers are saying when you’re very new to the language. With Duolingo, everything is perfectly paced for a beginner to understand with ease and I like that a lot. Another advantage worth mentioning is the numerous languages that the app offers. I like the flexibility a lot; and honestly, whenever I start to learn another language, back to Duolingo I’ll go! Cons I think the app is great for beginners, it gives you a strong foundation for your language learning journey. However, as you begin to progress into an intermediate or advanced level, you begin to realize that there’s not much more that the app can do for you. The lessons become a bit too calculated and robotic which isn’t good if you’re wanting to advance. You will need to bypass the app and try other language learning methods which will offer more spontaneous learning opportunities. Another con is the limitations that come with the free version, but like any other application, that is to be expected and we can’t necessarily blame Duolingo for that. All in all, I would highly recommend Duolingo to any beginner language learner. I use my spare time in a great way, playing Duolingo and learning another language. Pros I have been using Duolingo for sometime. I usaully use it in the weekends for about an hour. I have learned a little bit of two languages through this App. It is very attractive, easy, and fast. You can set it up to your level. I practice languages for conversations and I find this application suitable for me. I totally recommend Duolingo for having some fun time in a productive way. Cons I believe Duolingo is in a right direction. It would be great if it could include mrore languages. I can not find some languages in this app. Also, it is a little hard to learn the grammer using this app. After more than a year of using it, I can have short conversations, which is still great. I find the stories are really nice for 'real-world' applications of using the vocabulary. Honestly, highly recommend! Pros Duo is so easy to use and fun! It keeps me accountable and helps me to remember words that I may otherwise forget if it wasn't for the good timing! I like that it's a quick daily lesson and that Duo sends reminders if I fall off from Daily use. User friendly, cute graphics, and most importantly useful for language learning! Cons There's very little that I would list as a con with Duolingo. I use the free version so not all features are unlocked, which works for me, but you do have the option to pay to unlock more features.They give you the option to flag answers that you believe may have an error, but it does that a while for those to be reviewed. Paying about of money I would expect more. They don’t focus on important things like verbs leaving you confused as you go further along. Pros Fun way to learn a new language. The challenges are fun but it is only fun if you pay. Otherwise it’s not enjoyable. Cons I was scammed into a free trial and they took my money out of my account before the trial was up. I can hold minor conversations in Spanish thanks mostly to this app. I highly recommend and will still use until I feel and stay fluent. Unless, I find something better which seems unlikely. You WILL absolutely need other ways to study the language to become fluent in tandem with this app. Pros It is Free! Love that. I have used the free version for 7 years now. I am really grateful for the program and have gotten very far in learning Spanish. The daily streak keeps me doing it daily. I have only missed a handful of days in 7-8 years. Cons Verb conjugation is really POOR in Duo. No overall reviews of each verb. I wish they had full lessons dedicated to just verb conjugation. It really only teaches you based on pure memorization. Which is good, until you realize how much more you need to REALLY learn a language. For audio I wish you could control the speed. On audio lessons the normal speed is for fluent locals and the slow speed is for pure beginners. I need a mid speed so I can learn to get faster. The community aspect is also motivating. Cons The languages to learn are quite limited if my native language is not English. The progress tracking changed more than once which can be confusing.
