Very practical tool parallel with other teaching methods and e-learning databases

Pros

Easy to start direct. Simply and effective tool to use when you like.

Cons

Folder structure for teachers - it is needed to have an instruction how to manage data, e.g., assignments arranged by numbering, date, completed, etc.

### "GoReact is NOT just for Remote or Pandemic Observations"

February 10, 2022

5.0

GoReact really enhanced our ability to observe Student Teachers during the pandemic AND now we still use it because our budget has not allowed us to hire more full-time or adjunct supervisors for our growth. We have so many Student Teaching candidates to see and using GoReact allows us to observe candidates in these greater numbers than normal in person time would allow AND with more targeted specific feedback they can interact with.

Pros

I think the #1 pro for me and my student teaching candidates is the fact that they can see what I've seen and can review their own teaching and use their own markers OR respond to my markers/comments. This means they are not left with the impression of ONLY what I saw and commented on but it allows them to really reflect and not just have the "I think this is what I did" but actually see what I did or didn't do. I also very much like the opportunity to create my own markers that will then be used by both myself and my students both for very specific activities I need to see in the course I teach or with the official rubric we use to evaluate our candidates in the real classrooms. That type of flexibility allows me to prep candidates for the classroom, while in the classroom, and even for edTPA.

Cons

I only have 2 areas that I would like to see added or improved: 1. Some form of auto-correct or spell-check built into the comments section. I get typing pretty fast while watching the videos and there will be mistakes but the system does not correct them. I'd really like that added. 2. This feature is more for the candidates, but I'd like to see candidates have the ability to trim videos through the process, not full editing features but a way to trim out portions as they need them, especially for edTPA.

### "Integration with Canvas is clunky"

February 3, 2022

2.0

Pros

The features of GoReact are good. It does what it sets out to do efficiently.

Cons

Two main issues, from a music teacher's perspective, who teaches 20+ students. The time it takes to do this work is very cumbersome. It won't scale. With my experience, I have no problem picking up on small queues or problems in musical execution. The issue is with the translating the minutia and details of these complex mechanics into words. For example, in real time, technical troubleshooting would be explained and broken down in a step-by-step basis. I could do the same with GoReact on a "almost-frame-by-frame" basis, but that is far too cumbersome. I think it's a limitation of the medium of text, because it runs counter to the idea of "show, don't tell." Back to the classroom. I'm very good at troubleshooting guitar technique. The alternative to the "pinpoint" ability within GoReact is for me to create my own video to demonstrate the student's mistake and to show the alternative. (It's like all of those YouTube videos -- for example: "5 common mistakes when squatting.") Most of the time, I'm addressing common mistakes that are not specific to the individual.

### "GoReact makes feedback work for all teachers, especially ASL teachers & interpreter trainers"

February 1, 2022

5.0

My overall experience with GoReact has been exceptional. The company is attentive to the needs of its end users. For example, giving video feedback can be time-consuming. Observing the burden on instructors, they created a stamp system to speed feedback. GoReact added many features to make their feedback system the optimal web-based software for ASL and interpreting course instructors to gather student videos and give feedback in ASL.

Pros

GoReact is the only viable feedback system that allows effective time-synced annotations of student video submissions. My comments can be from a webcam, a screen recording, a file I upload, or simple text. When I go to give comments, I can see the original stimulus the student was watching and t e student's response to the stimulus playing in sync. My feedback gets synced to them both. Oth r freemium solutions are not as robust and often are surprisingly expensive. The complete set of comment features is also available to students for student-to-student feedback. I can even set up an activity such that students can find their own stimulus for practice. GoReact has created many solutions for group work, in-class work, live feedback, completely online courses, and hybrid situations. Not only does GoReact work as advertised, but several times when students tried to use it in ways it was not designed, we suggested the use to the GoReact team, and they made it a feature. There are other promising web-based video annotation and feedback systems, but GoReact has a proven track record of delivering a solid core system while continually improving. GoReact has good technical support for teachers and students. They have a good history of working with university-level technicians and working with small departments. I have been impressed with their willingness to work with a single instructor or teacher testing out GoReact.

Cons

As far as I know, they still don't have a one-time use or pay-as-you-go plan. Sometimes, I want to use it for one assignment or exam in a course without forcing students to sign up for the entire semester.

Reason for choosing GoReact

The upfront cost of hosting a server of our own with video catalog sharing and management software was prohibitive. GoReact does all of this while allowing us to do video annotations as well.

### "EVERY student overcame their fear of public speaking"

January 31, 2022

5.0

Fabulous! Previously, I had used 2 different video recording platforms which did not integrate with our course software. GoReact embedded right into my campus courses so I graded the videos directly. Our Instructional Designers figured out how post 30 Legacy Videos, 3 per week, at the beginning of each of my weekly assignments. I wanted our students to see 3 examples of speaking success and more importantly, see previous students who looked and sounded just like them doing well and feeling great with their new speaking skills...natural, at ease, articulate and confident. Video #10, the Legacy Video, featured each student giving advice and encouragement to future students. On a voluntary basis current students signed a Media Release form and dedicated their last video to encouraging future students. Big thanks to the Instructional Designer who add the new Legacy videos to my courses each quarter. When our campus was Beta testing several video software packages, I was very vocal in my support of GoReact because of its quality, ease of use and ability to calibrate it to our level of student. In closing, I have over 1200 students' video recordings to prove they overcame their fear of public speaking - a huge professional victory in my opinion.

Pros

I embedded GoReact into every Graduate Business Communications class I taught. This software ensured the each of the 30 students practiced 1x per week in private, no matter how shy they were about speaking up in class. I set up 10 weekly assignments starting out at 30 seconds of recording and adding 30 seconds each week. By the end of the quarter, they had spoken for a total of 20 minutes using the structures and speech skill they learned. GoReact allowed them to self-correct in private thereby building confidence and success.

Cons

I was too busy with the rest of my class content to learn most of the special feedback and editing features of the software, which might have been useful if I were privately coaching an individual who needed that level of detail. GoReact is functional at a basic level, which I used, all the way to detailed analysis.

### "GoReact is well worth the money especially when integrated campus-wide"

February 3, 2022

5.0

They are responsive, respectful, and view their customers as partners in making the product better. Each individual genuinely is interested in improving student learning.

Pros

Customer support is phenomenal. Multiple qualitative and quantitative feedback mechanisms, which are flexible and adaptable. Ability to use repeatedly through goreact.com or for discrete assignments integrated into LMS makes this product easy to use regardless of scenario. Product is useful as one component of a recorded-proctoring solution that respects student privacy. We have literally not found a better performance-assessment tool on the market.

Cons

To be honest, most "cons" that are brought to goReact's attention get addressed quickly. An institutional dashboard would be greatly appreciated.

Reason for choosing GoReact

goReact is universal and their customer support is phenomenal.

### "I wouldn't want to teach ASL without GoReact!"

January 25, 2022

5.0

Until I started using GoReact for quizzes (see Cons above), I loved it with my whole heart and have told soooooooo many teachers about it. Now, I am much less satisfied, admittedly.

Pros

Ability to give feedback with the time stamp at the moment it occurs. The amazingly quick response by support staff.

Cons

In order to give each student a quiz, I must individually upload media. I would REALLY LOVE IT if Goreact could randomly chose quizzes for me that I put in a pool, so I could upload only once. Huge waste of my time to individually upload for all 16 students - 14 quizzes. 224 quizzes to upload, specify dates, etc. It takes waaaaaaaaaaay too much time. Also, when using the markers, I don't like having to click on it to edit it to say what is incorrect. I would like for it to automatically open for me to add the sign vocab word that was executed incorrectly. Example - HOLME (Handshape, Palm Orientation, Location, Movement, and Non-Manual Markers). If I click on H for Handshape, I would like it to open so I can type the incorrectly executed sign instead of having to waste my time to open it and then add it. I tend, therefore, not to use them because of the extra steps I tend to add "hs" to the word and call it good, but the markers really draw students' attention and I \*want\* to use them...but don't want to waste the extra time. I was disappointed, for my students' sake, that the cost jumped from $20 to $30. Why not $25 for a year before the hyper jump?

### "Student confidence excels"

August 18, 2022

5.0

I am very pleased with GoReact, but all the more the student teachers are extremely complementary in using the product particularly being prepared for the TPA. feeling more confident, and moreover feeling better prepared to take on any class.

Pros

Giving specific feedback at the time and moment of interactions, particularly noting antecedents to behaviors, and the ability to reflect and watch, then discuss alternatives to student behavior and teacher behavior. Example student monopolizing classroom time then discussing with cohort alternatives. More importantly, the ability of sharing with a teacher cohort so the individual teacher doesn't feel isolated and realizes that many in the cohort are also struggling, which develops resiliency.

Cons

Implementation requiring feedback by students for each of the 6 observations is contingent on the teacher monitoring and setting expectations for the feedback.

### "Forging Relationships in an Online Environment"

January 31, 2022

5.0

We have loved using GoReact over the past five+ years. Onboarding was detailed, technical help was quick and friendly.

Pros

There are two features that I really like. The first has to do with the ability of GoReact to talk to our LMS. I only have to enter grades once. The second feature that we like is the ability for faculty and students to be able to respond to the person who made the recording in a like manner (video). As an instructor in an online institution, these recordings allow me to get a glimpse into my students' personalities, but even more important are the friendships that we see develop through these asynchronous conversations. GoReact has made our discussion boards much more personal and relatable than writing could ever do providing a dynamic, online environment.

Cons

From an instructor's point of view, the only con I have is that the rubrics within GoReact do not talk to the rubrics within our LMS that are used for reporting course and program outcomes.

### "Great way to give and receive feedback "

February 7, 2022

5.0

I loved it and learned a lot thanks to it. Unfortunately I haven’t tested any alternatives so I don’t know how it compares.

Pros

I used this product during my intensive conference interpreter training. What I liked most was how easy it made giving and receiving feedback. It was never hard to use.

Cons

If it froze, sometimes I would lose my recordings. While it seems to have a system in place to allow for short internet loss, it didn’t work as smoothly as would be ideal.

### "GoReact revolutionized how I teach Public Speaking"

February 1, 2022

5.0

I am a long time, loyal user of GoReact, as I started when they were very new and have faithfully used this product with my students for almost 10 years. I have proudly brought it to every institution I have taught at and have recommended it to every public speaking teacher I have ever talked to about recording speeches. I am a big proponent of recording and using the video to be your own coach. But it used to be such a hassle! We had to use cameras and clouds and email and the files were too big--it was rough. Meanwhile, I was typing my comments in a word document, hoping the student cared enough to read them and remember where they happened in the speech. This software and it's real time commenting have revolutionized how I am able to teach public speaking. This product allows my students to see my comments in real time and really hear how to improve or what they are doing great. I hope I never have to teach public speaking without this product.

Pros

The in time commenting!!!!! This is, by far, my favorite feature. It allows me to be quick in what I type because I don't have to contextualize as much. And it allows the student to understand better because it's in real time on the video!

Cons

My biggest (and probably only) complaint is that when I am commenting on pre-recorded videos, there is no way to let the video keep playing while I comment. I'm sure some love the pause-when-I-type function, but I am so used to typing while people speak, it wastes a lot of time for me. I wish we had the option to do it either way!

### "Love using GoReact. Wish Tech Support was quicker."

January 31, 2022

5.0

Most experiences have been positive. I will say that the tech support response is slower than most applications I work with. If I have to email them, sometimes it is a couple of days before I hear back. I don't like that. Sometimes students report that after a couple of days they have not heard back either. That is a problem. I seem to always have to email my college's liaison before I know about the solution to a problem. With most other apps I use, that is not the case. Most other app's tech support is more accessible and available.

Pros

Watching videos and being able to provide feedback at that exact place in the video that needs it.

Cons

When doing a stimulus response type activity, I cannot change the speed of the video. I cannot make it faster when watching students' videos. I can only watch it at one speed and some of the students are very slow. I wish I could speed up those videos. Because of this, I do not use that feature. But, wish I could use it and speed up the videos when I reviewed their work.

### "Helping Teachers Helping Students"

January 28, 2022

5.0

GoReact has been revolutionary for me as an interpreter educator. It has made my time giving feedback both easier for me and more timely and beneficial for my students. I like that I have several options for how to set up assignments, and that I can peak in on what my students are doing if I set it up for Live Record.

Pros

I like being able to leave synced comments to my students in text, audio, or video. It lets me customize my feedback based on the student, situation, or type of feedback. I also like that their customer service always gets back to me quickly.

Cons

There are sometimes glitches where students are cut off from the software and then they have to have me reset it if they're doing a test. I wish I could make it a one time/test situation, but still have them be able to see it before I grade it so they can do feedback for themselves more easily.

### "Best Choice for Presentations & Peer Reviews"

January 26, 2022

5.0

I've used GoReact in my courses for over 6 years. One year our department tried a different LTI - the semester was miserable because the feature of the other product didn't even compare to the those in GoReact. By the end of the semester, I told the course director I would only teach the course again if GoReact was used as the presentation software.

Pros

There are so many features about GoReact that I love as an instructor. To name the top three would be the time stamped comments, markers, and the rubric features. With the time stamped comments, students can see the exact moment the feedback applies. This develops their understanding of presentations in greater depth than general feedback at the end of a review. The markers make it easy to identify continuing elements without retyping phrases over and over. They also create a unified system of commenting with multiple reviewers. Finally, the rubrics make it easy to grade presentations and again create consistency in evaluation with multiple reviewers.

Cons

Cost is an issue for our institution. Because we are a small institution, the number of licenses we need makes it slightly less cost effective over other brands.

### "Lots of bang for your buck"

January 25, 2022

4.0

I have used video in teacher education for many years. I really appreciate how easy it is to upload and share video using GoReact. Video files can be so large, it is hard for students to submit them and share them. The app makes this very easy. No moving files or worrying about compression. I like that I can customize tags and share them with other instructors. I like that it integrates into Canvas so there is one less logon my students have to worry about.

Pros

This is a robust and easy to use software that is very affordable. It has made collecting, sharing, and analyzing video so much easier. Before the Canvas plug-in we used the app and it was great. The Canvas integration works well. The ability to customize tags and share them with other instructors is very helpful. I also like that I can change the settings for who can see the videos and comments.

Cons

I wish students could customize their own set of tags. I wish there were more analytic reports. Students mention that if Canvas is not set to open GoReact in a new tab it is very difficult to use. I wish students could upload more supporting files with their videos.

### "Go React with GoReact"

February 8, 2022

5.0

My overall experience has been positive. GoReact allows me to evaluate students in real time, and it makes it possible to do my job better without additional travel time. This feature helps me be a better supervising professor for my interns.

Pros

I love the convenience of this software. It allows me to be in class and complete timely observations without the expenditure of time for travel. I can evaluate a student intern in real time. This feature has been the most amazing aspect of supervising interns during this season of Covid.

Cons

I have not found a feature I wish the software had that it does not already have. The worst part was putting our rubrics into the program, but once we learned how, the process was smooth. I cannot readily think of a least liked feature for GoReact.

### "Great tool for higher education "

February 3, 2022

5.0

Overall I am very pleased with GoReact. They have had great customer service and provide opportunities for professional development and tutorials frequently to help new, and existing users, use the website with ease.

Pros

The ease of use for my student teachers is a huge benefit for this software. The interface is very straight forward for both student teachers to use when uploading videos, as well as for me to use while setting up my GoReact classrooms. I also enjoy the personalization of the program; I am able to create my own rubrics and video tags that are specific to each section.

Cons

I would like for there to be an option of assigning a course section to be either year-long or just semester-long; for my year-long student teachers, I have to create a new section for them each semester and re-invite them to a new GoReact classroom, rather then letting them stay in one section for the entire school year.

### " Very Useful and Friendly for Busy School Administrators"

August 15, 2022

4.0

Overall, GoReact was very easy to use and I would suggest to others to use it and get to know all the features that I, unfortunately, did not have the time to learn.

Pros

Being a novice school administrator when I was introduced to GoReact, I found it very easy to record and analyze teacher observations via in person and using Zoom. The speed function was very useful and the stop and jot feature for scripting was fantastic!

Cons

The speed of uploading videos from my mobile device was the most annoying. It could have been my bandwidth, but, it was still very frustrating, especially if I am in a time crunch.

### "Overall Good Product"

February 7, 2022

Allows me to easily grade student videos, give time-synced comments and use analytics.

Pros

The functionality and features of the program. Teacher and student rubric customization, time-synced comments, analytics for marker use. Love that my feedback can be text, audio, and video. Easy to upload video source materials.

Cons

Group interpretations doesn't seem to work, wish it did. Glitchy sometimes, have to refresh page to see new submissions and reset student attempts often (due to microphone issues, computer freezing). Wish I could just HIDE some assignments without setting a start date beyond the semester- it's time consuming.

My overall experience has been wonderful. It has made my life easier. I get quick email turnaround from customer support.

Pros

I would not have been able to assess students remotely without GoReact no question in my mind. It has been a lifesaver. I am not the most tech savvy so it is so nice to have a one stop shop. My students are able to turn in homework all in one place.

Cons

### "Must have for teachers of music"

I love it, I can't imagine teaching without it.

Pros

I use GoREAct to make a videos with daily vocal exercises. The students can then sing along with me (wearing headphones) and then I can play back their recording and hear just them. I'm able to provide feedback and adjustments as needed and have a snapshot into guided practice time. I've never had a tool in the studio that I like more. I feel like I'm really able to be in the practice room with the students and help them learn HOW to practice.

Cons

### "Flexible solution for busy people"

January 31, 2022

5.0

I no longer have to worry about matching supervisors based on geographical location.

Pros

We purchased this software to replace the in class observations of students. The most applauded feature is the ability to do the review on my own time and I do not have to be available during the time the student is recording the video for observation. The option to stop, rewind and playback is a welcome feature as well. I can catch things I would miss while doing a live observation.

Cons

This is not specific to this software but in general, there are limitations to what can be recorded and uploaded because it is a video recording, we are dependent on video recording policies school districts have in place.

### "Great for Adult Education and ESL Students"

January 31, 2022

GoReact allows for weekly speaking and presentation practice for students. It’s easy for students to use, and they can re-record videos easily. This is also a great tool for alternative assignments . I have also used this for students to help them practice their speaking for job interviews and other assignments where speaking skills are essential.

Pros

I love GoReact because it allows me to assess my students’ speaking and presentation skills. It also allows students to submit their homework in a video format in addition to writing. My students enjoy making weekly videos, and the software is integrated into Blackboard for ease of use. Students are also able to make both written and video feedback comments on their classmates videos.

Cons

The only challenge I have is figuring out why it shows two sets of grades in the Blackboard shell. I would like the integration to be a bit easier.
