Easy to retrieve the recent billings I sent out earlier. I don't need to retype the patient records again once the new patient record is set up.

Pros

It is convenient, user-friendly, free and easy to learn billing system. Ever since I use Practice Mate, I don't even need to mail or buy 1500 Form most of the time. It saves my lots of postage as well as money to buy the 1500 Forms.

Cons

Fee if not careful. Non par > par in ratio.Can't retrieve all billing records especially long time ago.

Ease of use to be able to manage stats etc it was the saving grace of keeping the software about a month with actually clearance of office ally

I really like the system but again I would like to do corrections when entering something by mistake

Pros

easy to use once you get a hang of it then everything just falls into place

Cons

don't like that you can't make date changes on it once it goes through we are not all perfect an enter a mistake from time to time

Training was a challenge, but once figured out it has been simple.

Overall, very pleased with the service.

Pros

Real Time Claim Status is accurate and helpful for tracking payments. Also, billing feature tells you when there is missing information so you can make corrections prior to submitting bill.

Cons

I do not like the new version. It is not as comprehensive and does not have the Real Time Claim Status feature (at least not yet).

It's a great product! If the billing system is improved and it's the No. 1 product in the field!

Pros

Easy and friendly use! And it is matched seamlessly with the EHR of Office Ally.

Cons

For the appointments column, if there is more content display will be more convenient! The billing is not good enough.

### "Avoid this product"

Regrettable.

Pros

Offers useful functions for accounting, billing, etc. if you don't plan to use the patient portal.

Cons

Their patient portal, Patient Ally, is AWFUL and I don't recommend it. Be prepared to deal with lots of bugs and customer service that just gives you the run around. The Upcoming Appointments feature of the portal does not work at all anymore. We've called several times to fix it over the last 6 months, and they just say "We are working on it" and refuse to give an estimated time to fix it. When we've expressed displeasure about this, we were ignored. We lose business because patients check their upcoming appointments tab and see they have nothing scheduled, even though they are in our schedules. Office Ally just doesn't care either so we will be looking for another solution. There are also plenty other bugs. For example, patients can sometimes request appointment slots that are already full, leading to double-booking. This is not because someone was scheduled in the time between the appointment request and confirmation. It is purely a software bug. The time it takes to resolve these issues with support is lengthy, and often the errors are never fully resolved. A fairly large chunk of our patients have trouble using it, and completing the on-boarding enrollment. We also had a worrisome customer service experience with their partner for integrated credit card processing, so we had to use a separate processor.

Pros

Easy to use. Great customer support and help with start up. Easy billing to all my insurance companies. Quicker payment as a result of electronic billing. I have recommended OA to many colleagues. Wish I started with OA sooner.

Cons

Had trouble with the practice management area which I tired briefly.

### "Great for Single Provider Practice "

Pros

For a small, single provider mental health practice, this software makes billing much simpler. Entering demographics and billing is easy. Most clients are seen for the same procedure and diagnosis each time, I can template my charge entry to have these items automatically fill in at each visit. Easy to view and resubmit the claims that are sent. Can create pop-up notes when accessing certain areas of a patient (scheduling, demographics, etc). Can electronically post EOB's if setup to receive and process the insurance's file. Cannot beat the cost (or lack of cost) for using this software.

Cons

The Accounts Receivable can be challenging at times. Cannot reverse payments/adjustments on an account with a negative transaction, must delete these out, which is a nightmare for tracking or auditing. If the EOB wasn't posted by the system, have to manually search for the patient by looking at each EOB for that insurance.

### "Ease of Use"

Pros

Simple to set up. Easy to use. This is unfair don't have more to write The product sells itself

Cons

Same problem with most programs if during the month change referral number doesn't change once you put in a date. Just a problem with programing I found a way around it.

I love how user friendly it is. Our schedule is color coordinated which makes it so easy for staff.

Cons

I don't like that we can't customize accounting reports. We currently run a few reports every month to get the numbers we need for inventory.

Pros

This product is by far the most affordable and user-friendly that I have used. I have tried other products, but this one seems to be the best fit for me and my practice as a licensed mental health therapist.

### "One Stop Shop for Claims and Accounts Receivable"

Pros

Most of our payors pay us through Practice Mate, it's quick, convenient, the tech support is good and they will back you up if a payor tries to ding you for Timely Filing and you did submit the claim on time.

Pros

Practice Mate is easy to use for billing --- it really is foolproof! And the customer service is very good.

Cons

Nothing to report here since I use it for billing insurance only.

Reason for choosing Practice Mate

Price. I am a 1-person, small acupuncture practice and don't have a medical billing budget. Many of the billing software packages for acupuncturists are cost-prohibitive for a small practice or new practitioner starting out.

I've been very happy and will continue to use Practice Mate, the price is great and it's comprehensive. It connects to the clearing system, which is great.

Pros

It covers everything and the cost is great, there is no cost. I run everything through Practice Mate, I do my aging, I do everything.

Cons

It's hard to say because it's pretty comparable to other systems that are considerably more expensive.
