If you have Wi-Fi at your business location, that will function as your cell tower of sorts. As long as you have Wi-Fi you'll have service. Unlike a landline, you can also take this with you anywhere with a data source. Cons As convenient as the Wi-Fi reception is, there is one downside. If you have issues with Wi-Fi then your phone will also be down. Or if you're experiencing slow speeds then the voice quality may degrade. You can also setup forwarding on this free number, which has been so useful for us here. Though there are some features behind a pay-wall, the basic and fundamental functionality is totally free. The costs for calling international numbers is also reasonable, particularly useful for us when contacting applicants currently abroad. Like every other Google produce, the user interface is simply excellent. Looking crisp and clean on both mobile and desktop devices. Cons I'm really struggling to think of a negative point about Google Voice, there are just so many things it does right! The only real negative is that the initial setup was more time-consuming than other similar products, and required a slight bit more education of our users on how to use it. Review Source Brandi F. My customers trust a number coming from their local area more than out of state. Cons You are blind as to who the caller is when receiving calls which can lead to a problem if you are both waiting for and avoiding a call at the same time. Reason for choosing Google Voice This really made the most sense for my company as I did not want to pay for a new phone line but needed to maintain a separate number for work. Caller ID works very well in identifying business (a bit less efficient for personal numbers). Messaging option is a great add on for a "regular" phone line to have. The transcription for voicemails is a nice convenient little add one as well. Cons Occasional issues with the mobile app freezing or dropping calls even with strong internet and data connections. Gives alternate number to register at places you don't want marketing calls and stuff Cons 1\. All countries are not free to call internationally 2. Like that I can receive business calls and text to a separate number and do not have to give away my personal number. I do not like that it does not separate the incoming alerts to your phone so you can tell it is google voice. Pros I can have a separate line on my phone and can use it for business without needing to purchase another phone plan. You can also text with this number as well. No local numbers available in my entire state and surrounding states. Pros I liked the IDEA of Google Voice, but sadly I tried every single area code in Washington, Oregon and half of California and there were NO free phone numbers left. After doing research we learned that it really is not made to do what we need it to do. However, I never had problems with GV and my calls were great quality. Pros It is free, that's huge. I loved how I could answer calls on my phone (or several different ones) and on the internet through a web portal. Quality was great. Setup was easy. Cons I wished that there was a desktop app. Since this was a free product, many features that are necessary for a small business are not included such as buying a toll-free vanity number, menus when calls come in, etc. Review Source LT Lucia T.
