Pros Instagram is a free platform for businesses to promote their content, run a store, and reach out to people who are interested in their products. It's owned by Facebook, so it's not going anywhere, and it's worth investing in. It has almost every feature imaginable. Cons The sizing for photographs is still so annoying and stupid. All of the other social media platforms can take an image and resize it for you to fit their specific dimensions, but not Instagram. No, you have to re-shape your image to their specific requirement that is not used by any other site. So much of my time and energy wasted because they can't apply their millions of dollars to this simple automation and user experience improvement. I also dislike how vain Instagram is as a platform. It's all about appearances. It almost doesn't even matter what you write in the descriptions. Visuals front and center. On top of that, they still don't support animated gifs. Pros I love that instagram allows me to connect with my friends and family as well as people I haven't met before. It's very easy to use, has a lot of different features and tools such as, using hashtags to get more views or likes on your posts, search bar, The explore page and sending Direct Messages to people. I use most of these as an advantage to my business. Instagram also allows you to run ads and gives the opportunity to choose your audience. So I use that too but have recently ran into a problem with running an ad. Cons Although Instagram is an app with lots of benefits and is very popular it has some downfalls. Instagram has the option for its users to make ads that promote their page or products but I've recently had a problem with running one of my ads for my business. I was trying to promote my clothing store on a video that had music in it and the music is an original song that I wrote. Well when I hit start ad Instagram made me wait like an hour before getting back with me about why. Their reason as to why I couldn't run my ad was because it had to do with political views and they didn't want me to influence anyone's vote or decisions. But people are clearly influencing peoples votes and decisions EVERY SINGLE DAY! So I didn't understand then and I don't understand now as to why they wouldn't let something go through that I WAS PAYING FOR and let me exercise my right to speak on whatever matters I wanted to speak on. For someone who is pursuing blogging and thinking of making this a full-time job, the collaborations, reaching relevant business, and doing business with them has become very easy. Additionally, stickers like 'poll', 'questions', 'countdown', and 'quiz' have really made it easy for us to interact with our audience. Cons The algorithm is what really ticks me off about this app. I've recently started blogging and a lot of my posts do not get shown to a lot of my followers. For somebody trying to make this their full-time job, it's a big setback that whatever content you make is not getting the views that it deserves. Another thing that really annoyed me was the 'Reshare' sticker option in the new update. Previously, I was able to share a post I like with just a tap of a button, and now I have to go through various steps like saving that post, going to my story option, get a background, look for the 'reshare' sticker, and then choosing the saved post that I wanted to share initially. That is, even if I want to receive content that I liked or interacted with, the algorithm works with highlights and ends up showing a part of the whole, creating a bubble aspect.
