Unless you use Threads, however, it's hard to connect with your audience or find interesting content in searches since posts don't seem well-categorized. Pros I like the variety of videos on the platform, including funny clips and clips of people showing their incredible talents. It's great for visual marketing. Cons Unlike LinkedIn, it's harder to find your people. Without Threads, you have to direct message people or comment on their posts. It feels more claustrophobic in its platform structure do to the challenge of actually finding great content through the search function. It's harder to determine which users are legitimate as well. I love the simplicity of the real life experience of people. Cons Some users like to belittle, downgrade or outright disrespect peoples posts or pictures. Total disregard for ones personal profiles. It is now too corporate and filled with ads for me to enjoy like I used to, and lacks the personal touch. That said, I still use it daily so it clearly is a good service. Pros Creating posts and stories is well-designed and lets you share your life in a nice way to those who follow you. The messaging function is easy to use and well-made Cons Instagram has seemingly changed from a personal social media network, to something more akin to TikTok and youtube. My feed used to be filled with personal posts from those I follow and my friends, and now it is large businesses and influencers, along with a lot of advertisements. The reels feature is designed to suck you in to watching videos with little value, but that keep you on the platform. There are other sites to promote books, but bookstagram is prevalent. Pros I like how easy it is to use this platform to promote my business. As an author, every view counts to help my sales. We paired it with advertising to give our marketing a boost and target specific audiences. Not the easiest platform to grow but definitely worth having a presence to share content on. Pros Instagram was very easy to use and had some great sharing functionality. It suggested like minded people and businesses in my industry. I found it useful to make connections with other creators and bring the business reach to a much larger audience. Cons Was limiting at first by not allowing scheduling of posts. Lots of spam accounts private messaging offering fake promotions and promotions to buy followers. Other than that not much to complain about. Even though I have some concerns, I think the positives outweigh the negatives Pros I just recently started using Instagram. I have been a user of other social media apps but never gave Instagram a chance. I wish I would have sooner. The app is very user friendly and easy to navigate. There is also content on almost everything you can think of. It's great to keep up to date with current events and to stay connected to friends and family. Cons There are a couple things about Instagram that I disliked. The one main issue are the ads and sponsors. While scrolling, you will come across ads every few videos.
