It's been very reliable and the support has been great, despite it also being the first year for the new owners.

Pros

Great that it's based on Filemaker rather than custom database, we feel, especially as mac-based org. We do not currently integrate ours with accounting software, but may, one day. Their focus on CRM features and building out some custom workflow on that continues to be appealing. All in all, we are not in the mindset to be looking elsewhere unless we can one day work end to end from CRM to bidding to booking to actualizing to billing and full G/L.

Cons

Drawwbacks are: customizations have to be redone at significant cost every upgrade, and keyboard shortcuts are few and far between. It could use more UX simplicity but perhaps it's a result of being so flexible. Ideally, the views presented to the user would be intelligent following workflow to eliminate or highlight what's needed and hide what isn't.

We were actually quite happy with Farmer's Wife but felt that Studio Suite could accommodate our very large database better (so far, so good), and we had more faith that creating reports on the fly could be done more easily. Finally, the foresight of including CRM features and allowing us to add onto that really helped us see that it would beneficial to make the change. Farmer's Wife, when we had a smaller database, was extremely snappy and fast, but when it got bogged down, was very slow. Studio Suite seems to always be somewhere in the middle. It's slower but steady.

Reasons for choosing Studio Hero

Filemaker-based for Mac and app -driven for power users, versus all browser. And seeing their long history of improvements. Gift card will be donated to charity, FYI.

We use Studio Suite for scheduling and inventory, and are moving into the project tracking features with the new version. Whenever we've encountered any issues, the Adatasol team has been responsive and persistent in solving them, carrying on the good service of the original developer. We're eager to dig into Version 13 and to keep working with Adatasol to make a good product even better!

Pros

Studio Suite's comprehensive approach to studio management makes for a very useful product. We've scheduled our studios several different ways in my time at CU Denver, and this is the one we're going to stick with. The fact that it's built with Filemaker is a huge plus, since it allows us to make minor modifications with relative ease. During these remote days of 2020, it's been a real plus that the web version works so seamlessly alongside the app version.

Cons

Studio Suite is almost TOO comprehensive! Since we are a non-profit educational institution, there are accounting features that we do not need. It's possible to customize the menus, but it's harder to customize within modules. It can be tricky to do on your own, or requires a custom modification at extra cost, and we'd prefer to see some of that functionality built in (such as "Show/Hide this tab", for instance).

Bittersweet. I love what it promises but am frequently frustrated by the way it performs

Pros

I like the fact that SS provides a central location for almost all of the data needed to oversee the operations of a multi room faculty.

Cons

I've used this software for a decade and have always been frustrated that they have not built a true web version. Filemaker has so many limitations that its time to abandon and start over PHP

Other than Quickbooks (which Studio Suite connects/shares data with), this is our sole "go-to" software for everything from scheduling to contact management to billing. In our 10+ years in business, we've used Studio Suite from day one, and have been pleased ever since.

Pros

What I liked most about Studio Suite was that it's an "All-in-one" solution.

Cons

Being in the technology field and at least somewhat familiar with File Maker/Databases, I'm perhaps more adept than some. As should probably be expected with software as complex and all-encompassing as this, it was a very in-depth setup initially, and customization can be tricky.
