Seriously, I used to use another piece of software that used to protect my members area, and yes for a while it did well, but it soon became out of date and vulnerable, even after updating it, it wasn’t cutting it in terms of security. Password sentry, it flags accounts, logs the IP address, you can see where in the world on a map, where the IP address is located. It will tell you the distance from the IP address, so if you have an account that has logged 5000 miles away from its last log in, you can see that. I did not have that on the last software, I had to always do an IP trace. You can block proxies and VPNs, but divert the users to a warning page, allowing your real customers to disengaged them. I can monitor the bandwidth and limit downloads, normally you must pay extra for another piece of software to do that for you. And I am still finding out how much more it does. Now when I quote a client for a website, I include an installation for Password Sentry. Pros the GUI and it power, it has a lot of tools and does more than just protect you private area from password and account sharing... that I didn't expect. Cons I do wish it was a little easier for me to install and maintain (that is it) can't complain \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] isa wizz on the tech support. Reasons for choosing Password Sentry Proxypass with MojoHost, but, you guys had the better price. I have to admit, I was sceptical, but now and I more than Happy. Great program! Pros I have used Password Sentry for many years to protect my membership site. On innumerable occasions, it has blocked improper access before things got out of control. Great customer service. It is a real life saver for membership sites. Cons There are times the scripting blocks access to legitimate users who, through no fault of their own, log in from what the script sees as excessive IP addresses. It's a minor inconvenience, but the power of the script to block password sharers far outweighs this. I strongly recommend this product and require it for all membership sites on my server. Pros very easy to setup, easily ban, unban or exempt users. One click and you can see all their referring IP's. Cons nothing, been using it for over 10 yrs and love it. Reasons for choosing Password Sentry very nice UI, configurable, easy to use, does its job perfect. I could not be happier. The product works exactly as expected. I first started using this product after having some passwords shared on password sharing sites and racking up a bandwidth bill of almost $1,000 in just 2 days as a result. If you don’t have a good password protection script protecting your site, it’s just a matter of time before your passwords end up on sharing sites. Bandwidth from those sites will either crash your server or crash your wallet or both. Password Sentry will pay for itself quickly in saved bandwidth and help keep out garbage traffic. Pros It works. It is very easy to use, and it works just as expected. Also never had any issues with it in the 15+ years I’ve been using the product. Cons I can’t think of much bad about the product at the moment. I use it every day and never have to think much as everything just works as expected.
