### "Can't remember how I worked before Trello"

December 1, 2020

5.0

It replaced my pen and paper, and acts like an extension of my brain. Throw some ideas in cards, move them, organize them, rename the column as you wish, give them the meaning you wish (Todo / In progress / Done, or Notes / Files / Screenshots, or ...)

Pros

Instant Learning curve. If you sticked post its on a board, you know how to use Trello Create your own usage. Kanban board for projects, or personal notes organizer for a travel, it's more a Canva for your own ideas rather than a project management tool.

Cons

Lack of real professional Desktop app for Macos Full of ads for upgrading to the professional version No Calendar view, or dependancy between cards

Alternatives considered

[Asana](https://www.capterra.com/p/184581/Asana-PM/)

Reason for choosing Trello

Trello is NOT the best product manager. The one size fits all make it less efficient for pure project management. But the instant learning curve make its adoption by everyone a very string argument. In the end, you try a lot of "better" tools, but you always come back to Trello.

### "Best List Making Application to Boost your Productivity and Save Time for Personal & Business use."

October 17, 2020

4.0

Trello will be always my first choice, and I guess It's one of the Best List Making applications right now with amazing features and Integrations also, I love it when the Trello team is improving it always for us as users and when they give us new tips and tricks. I have been using it for almost 10 months now and I never had big problems with it and that's why I keep using it daily for my projects, work, and plans. And I had a lot of success getting things done fast and I saved a lot of time because of Trello and I will always recommend it to my friends and family members.

Pros

It's a very helpful tool and I'm able to increase my productivity and track my work, plans, projects daily. I really like it because they have a Free plan without paying anything and no credit card needed too. It's one of the best tools right now to get things done and save time and do your "To-Do List" fast. I can Invite my Virtual Assistant and create a team to help me get things done and they can follow all the tasks without any problem because the simple Boards, Cards, Lists are very organized. I can create any number of cards I want, and I can create custom buttons that appear right on the back of every card. I can schedule my work and handle my tasks to save time and to stay organized all the time. I can change the board Background to any picture I like, for example, motivation background for more productivity. I can favorite my boards to find them very easy, and I can search any board if I want in the search box. In addition, I can see any closed boards and check them again one by one if I want. I like also, the Automation Tips and how you can Turn your Trello boards into an automation machine with a few clicks by creating simple rules. I can add some fun stuff to my Boards by adding some cool and funny Stickers and they offer the option to add some custom stickers too and I can add a Template for easy use. Trello Support team is one of the best and they reply fast. also, inside the Trello website, you can find a lot of tips and step by step guide with examples too.

Cons

Sometimes It's very hard to see some cards because the Boards get bigger and bigger and they can add for example Horizontal pages, for example, page1/page2/page3...etc They can add a better option to communicate between team members like live chat or other messaging options in Boards. I don't like the "More from Atlassian" section in Trello because It's like they are promoting some tools and for me I don't really need them. They can add more Templates to their Templates section. When I allow desktop notifications sometimes, I don't get them in time, and sometimes I don't get them at all. They can add more Types to the "Team Type" section in Invite > create team. They can add more apps to Trello app Integrations, not just the popular apps on the internet. I can't change the size of the stickers in the cards, and they don't have a lot of stickers.

### "I didn't ask for shared to-do lists... but here we are!"

November 17, 2019

4.0

Overall I have found Trello to be of benefit both personally and to our team. Trello has helped our management keep track of each team member's workloads from a big picture standpoint, and has helped with distribution (and re-distribution) of work. It has also been beneficial to me in terms of organizing and keeping track of the work that I'm doing. As someone naturally disorganized, this is a major compliment. It has been so helpful that I am considering using it for my personal projects as well.

Pros

Trello is an organizational powerhouse. Personally, neither my mind nor my typical work style are very organized -- I'm all about scattered thoughts and scattered notes. Trello offers a myriad of solutions for the problem that is me. From separate boards for separate projects/task types, to separating lists of cards by various types, to individual cards, the organization options offered by Trello's "to-do" lists are pretty granular. This system is very easy to use, but the deeper you go -- especially once you start playing with Trello's various powerups -- the more complex it becomes. There is a lot to be said for the extension of functionality offered by said powerups -- they go from simple extensions of base functionality to drastic shifts in how information is presented (such as calendar view) or integration of other services (including Google Drive and Dropbox). Trello is pretty easy to use out of the box for an unorganized person such as myself, but offers a lot of possibilities for the power users willing to dive, or the highly organized among us.

Cons

Aside from its many organizational functions, which are stellar, the main draw of Trello is that it allows for sharing and collaboration among users. My team (10-20 people), for example, uses a single shared Trello board, with card lists for each team member, across all of our projects. Since everyone can see everything, this has led to occasional weirdness between members of our team. Perhaps this is just due to the organizational structure we've settled on -- perhaps I'm saying the con is people. On that note -- there doesn't seem to be an easy undo function, so if you mess something up on a shared board you may end up creating confusion. The notification system is also not ideal. Trello is not the place to go if you require the person you're communicating with's immediate attention.

### "An exception agile development management tool"

August 16, 2022

5.0

Our experience with Trello comes from managing multiple, enterprise class interface and application design projects using Trello.

Pros

The ability to quickly setup new workspaces, create lanes (lists), tasks and assign them to the appropriate team member makes using Trello a time saver. You can also customize Boards with different backgrounds, etc to differentiate them from other projects, which is nice. Being able to list the work needing to be done (backlog), the stages of development or production it will go through (lists / lanes), assign team members to specific tasks and attach images, docs, etc. at the task level creates a highly collaborative and feature rich product from a very simple interface.

Cons

Honestly, there's nothing that I would change at this point. It works flawlessly and efficiently. Our teams love it.

### "Ultimate multi-team work and work-flow tracking"

September 19, 2019

5.0

We started out using trello on their free plan for a single project as an experiment. This is how we've evaluated ticketing and tracking systems in past, but trello became so popular so quickly in 6 months we used it almost everywhere. It's UX is so well-designed that it enhanced our work productivity more than custom-reinforcement tools that had been built for other tracking systems. It works great for individual and team projects, and allows both mixing of teams and seperate teams as case may be. It has good security and notification, and it very reasonably priced. It has so many integrations (they have different word for integrations, i forget it something like buttons), there are constantly more things we could be doing with it. Butler plugin is particularly useful- again this does things that we have had to automate internally with other work tracking systems. The API we've started using extensively in the past 6 months, it's much easier than many vendors APIs and we've used it for everything from quick regular reports to automated notification, to management-like functions. Again some of these things we've done in other systems, but the card concepts are so well implemented they just work better and are more clearly to implement and have the eventual implementation very closely match the vision.

Pros

Beyond easy to use- it's actually fun to use, people want to move work through. By embracing kanban it also encourages constant workflow. The integrations it has are numerous and awesome. The API is very flexiable and we use it extensively.

Cons

Not too much. There are some annoyances like it doesn't support all of Markdown, which makes it harder to format things. It's a bit tricky to apply same operation to multiple cards, without using the API. This creates extra work, but once you know it you can frequently control it. Mostly rare annonyances, some feature that isn't there yet.

### "The only task management app that sticks for me"

August 6, 2022

5.0

If you like working in a Kanban or Scrum-like fashion, then Trello is certainly worth a try. It is by far the easiest-to-use Kanban tool I have seen so far.

Pros

Trello does not dictate a specific method or workflow when managing tasks, instead I can setup boards and lists according to my preferences or the project's requirements. Collaboration is easy and enabled by default. The mobile apps do a great job of adapting the user experience to a touchscreen setting.

Cons

It would be nice to have native support for and Gantt diagram-based planning without the need for addons. When assigning cards to members of a board, their avatars show up causing the card to be much larger and take up much more vertical screen space. This means that not as many cards are visible without scrolling up and down.

### "Trello: An Undeniable Advantage"

December 13, 2020

4.0

Having spent the last four years attempting to make a living of mostly entrepreneurial pursuits, simple, inexpensive tools which fulfil their purpose are, in every sense, my support, bread and butter. Without reliable, easily-accessible software, myself, along with everyone in my employment, would be dead in the water. Across departments with vast organizational differences, the need for universally understandable project- and task-tracking methods was a requirement on day one; 24 hours on your own in ANY industry makes the necessity apparent - unfortunately for us, there was no simple (and inexpensive) solution on the market, we had to rely on handwritten notes, whiteboards and Excel timetables to pull us through: this changed for the better when a colleague introduced me to Trello. On the surface, Trello is the software equivalent of a kanban board - wholly organic and pleasantly intuitive. Hidden behind a click or two, though, hides a plethora of powerful management and automation tools which, to our delight, made progress tracking and planning in the uncertain market of today all the more manageable. Even in the early stages of adoption, when exploring the functionality came secondary to "just using it and getting the projects done" - Trello's ingenious design helped speed up our workflow with zero setup - from simple suggestions, tagging and the ability to drag-and-drop, duplicate or just assess, every aspect of Trello was developed with our precious time in mind.

Pros

Trello is unbelievably organic, and remarkably intuitive. Nothing that we expected to be simple was made complex, and powerful functionality similarly remained a click or two away. Trying Trello is free, and not much functionality is tucked away behind the licenses - the non-free plans only serve to provide all the uses of Trello to larger teams. Sign up, use Trello to plan a weekend, and I guarantee you'll convince your partners of its necessity come Monday.

Cons

Trello didn't really miss any opportunities. I can guarantee Trello will replace so much more than just your current kanban solution.

### "Trello Review"

I love how visual Trello is. It's easy to see at a glance where I am at with all my projects and what needs my attention next.

Pros

Trello is my preferred project management system, one that I use in my business as well as to manage my clients' projects. It's simple enough to use yet robust enough to handle high level of details.

Cons

I haven't really explored the Butler function and automations enough so can't talk to that aspect of Trello.

### "A must for the working professional"

March 8, 2021

5.0

I have been using Trello for about 7 years, I have found the simple customizable layout of trello cards along with the key features like checklists, due dates, labels and file sharing to make it a must for any team. It's free version is fantastic so unless you really want to dig into some add-ons with more advanced applications, it will complement any teams organization. I use it to prioritize my own tasks and collaborate with colleagues on projects with various moving pieces.

Pros

The ability to customize the columns and card layouts / functions make Trello a truly versatile tool. I have always been a fan of the trello checklists, as it allows you to make sub-steps on cards - whereas many might use the cards themselves as steps in an overall project.

Cons

One of the projects we've tried to use trello for was a light CRM - this was somewhat successful but without any kind of each way to retrieve and manage the data of various cards, it ultimately ended up not working very well. It would be helpful if Trello had some kind of dashboard for metrics in the cards generally - like how many tasks were completed? Who is posting a lot versus hardly ever? Also, on various teams I have noticed that there are always the avid users (like me) and others where they need reminders to update cards... some kind of automation to remind people assigned to a card to update progress would be great (other than just the due date emails).

### "An excellent alternative for PM"

March 28, 2024

4.0

Overall, I find it a fantastic alternative for project management for small-medium teams and projects. It saves a lot of time and money because it allows the team manager to keep track of all the tasks and really helps with the member's collaboration. I highly recommend it!

Pros

Visually it is very beautiful and feels organized and clean. It allows a lot of customization and movement of the cards so you can really play around with your options saving a lot of time. It is very versatile in this sense. At the same time, it is super easy to learn and when you bring a new member to the team, little explanation is needed to get them integrated.

Cons

If the project has many moving parts or many members, it starts to feel cluttered and slow. The search tool could use improvement too.

### "A Card Above The Rest"

March 29, 2024

4.0

Makes managing multiple projects with moving parts and more than one team member involved easy to manage. It's also free, which is great for any startup trying to get organized with a small or large remote or office team.

Pros

I enjoy the card based system Trello makes use of. The WYSWYG design function is beneficial to even novice users - you can move things how you see fit without major processes involved. I also enjoy the customizability. You can use Trello anyway you want. If you have a chaotic but effective process, you can make it your own. If you're extremely organized - it's perfect for that, too.

Cons

Slight learning curve because it's so open. Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty useful. Also, their sale to Atlassian kind of mucked things up. I didn't like Jira when originally searching for an Asana replacement. The sale also messed up customer support for a bit.

### "Organize your business with Trello"

August 2, 2021

5.0

I have changed many apps through the course of my business but Trello has been my die hard. No app has everything that you may need to run your business but Trello has really help me create systems in my business that has allowed me to look professional, organized, and show-up 100% prepared for my clients even during my start-up stage.

Pros

I've been using Trello over 5 years and it has really help streamline my business. I am more organized because I have one place to house all my business information, it makes collaborating with my team super simple as I can assign task, communicate with my team, and monitor the progress of a project all on one platform. And the integration with apps like Google Drive, Zapier, and the calendar make collaborating with an external team easier.

Cons

I feel that this app has evolved over the past 5 years and I'm looking forward to see what upgrades they can do in the future but I would like the ability to have my client make payments within Trello. That would be a game changer for me.

### "Really helpful and must have application for startups to team collboration"

September 12, 2021

4.0

Overall Trello is very good application as compared to other free alternatives available. I have been using it since 12 months and never regret much about this. Startups will definitely go for this application instead of paying for upgrade you can use it for free until you really need it.

Pros

Trello have been improved a lot compared to previous few months. The dashboard is really amazing and analyzing stats by graphs became very simple. I have been using its lifetime free version with some limitations like I cannot add more team members in free version. Still its helping me schedule tasks in advance with planner, assigning and labeling it to my team, tracking status of each and every task. Trello can be easily integrated with any system configuration as its a web based tool.

Cons

Sometimes like other applications it also have bumpers in between while scheduling tasks that many times make team members clutter into wrong decisions. I personally don't like drag drop feature as sometimes I accidently move cards in wrong places while moving my cursor somewhere else. I cannot be able to find any gantt chart view for my projects modules. If they add it then it will be helpful.

### "One word: Simple."

August 19, 2019

5.0

I use Trello to organizing my bugs and features. Its easy to put the most important things on the most important list, and put the most important card at the top of the list. This gives me clear direction. And I have access to Trello on my phone or any computer, so I can add cards no matter where I am when i think of something that needs added. I used to keep track of these things using an actual bug tracking software, but it just took too many steps to do the same thing I am doing with Trello. The best thing about Trello, it can be used for so many purposes, so once you get used to the software and create an account, you can easily just create another board for project management, feature requests, and just a plain old to-do list.

Pros

I love how simple it is. We use kanban boards at work through Microsoft TFS, but the complexity kills the mojo a bit. I use Trello as my bug tracker and development pipeline since I am just a single developer working on my projects, and it works perfect for that. Trello follows the KISS method (Keep It Simple Stupid), I can tell! Just create a board, add a list, and add cards. Very easy, very simple, and very customizable.

Cons

I wish there was a better search feature. When I search for text, I wish it would show me on the board where the result is... maybe when I click the result and scrolls to show me the card, so I can then drag it to another list if I want. Right now the search result show me the card and hide all the others, but by doing that I cant drag to reorder it.

You Track is actually pretty good software, but as a sole developer, the simplicity in trello won out. In one click, I can add a bug/feature, whereas with YouTrack, it took several clicks to pick the type, severity, category, tags, etc. You track might be better for bigger teams, but even then, Trello has the tools to scale up as well.

### "Super Simple Activity Tracking"

August 12, 2022

4.0

I have used Trello with teams in two different organisations and also for personal productivity. From the outset it was really intuitive. Simple to pick up the basics and then with some interaction with other users discover some of the less obvious features which can really pack a punch. Assigning colours to people makes it easy to see at a glance who is involved with what and when.

Pros

Really clear and intuitive interface that is simple to navigate. The website is well designed and laid out so that even newbies can get started quickly. There are LOTS of great templates to get you started and they make it really simple to get results. Often seen as a 'Project Management' tool, Trello is so much more. There are over a dozen categories of templates including Business, Education, Marketing, HR, Product Management, Sales, Team Management and Personal - and each of these categories has a dozen or more templates that are free to use. The boards allow the use of pictures and video too - great for creating dynamic and engaging content.

Cons

There is not much to like about Trello. If you have multiple tasks to complete yourself it can be used as a simple To Do list but that would probably be overkill. Templates can be created by users and uploaded - shared - on the website for others to use. While this is a great feature and other users have created some great templates, some of them might not do exactly what you want.

### "The only task management tool that has ever stuck with our team "

August 4, 2022

5.0

We have been happily using Trello for years. We use the free version (with occasional upgrades) and it's powerful enough to do exactly what we want. Without Trello I think we would get far less done!

Pros

We have a remotely dispersed team, and users at all levels of familiarity/interest in software tools. Trello is the only tool that has ever stuck and that our users have continued to use without constant prodding. It's simple enough to look like a structured wall of post-it notes for users who want that, but has enough granular controls that other users can label/colour-code/due-date to their heart's content. The UI is very well structured and both sets of users can happily co-exist. It also allows easy colloboration with our external development team.

Cons

Sometimes I feel during busy periods that I lose track of individual updates (due to the sheer volume). I end up having to go board by board and card by card to ensure I don't miss something. Having a better system to watch certain cards/lists would help filter this.

Reason for choosing Trello

Simplicity wins, and a tool that sticks is far more valuable than a more fully-featured one that doesn't.

In general terms, I really like to use it to promote interaction and self-management in work teams. I always try to introduce people to the tool in a personal and personalized way, to solve any doubts that arise and I share some tutorials to reduce the learning curve.

Pros

It is a great tool for teams distributed throughout the planet because it provides features and benefits typical of agility, such as having the work always visible. It is intuitive compared to the use of digital post its. it allows you to add multimedia very easily and the mobile experience is similar to the desktop experience

Pros

Trello is very simple and very useful for task management. Several task boards can be created and be used as you pleased, allowing a very flexible usage of the tool. Trello does have integration with several team-based work tools allowing to compensate for "missing features".

Cons

Some features are missing for Trello to enlarge it's usefulness. Progress tracking would be the main thing. I have also found some use cases would require to nest cards, which is something not implemented, which can lead to some misinformation for some situations.

Trello is a lot better than I imagined it would be. We have increased productivity, timing, and communication, which allowed us to produce much higher quality work.

Pros

I found it great to have all work tasks in the same area. Everyone could access the cards to let each other know where we were in each step. It improved communication between team members, as well as increased the level of productivity. Our project time overall was also decreased, allowing us more time for other important tasks.

Cons

I didn't like that sometimes we had to view things on a bigger screen to see the whole chart if there were a lot of parts, but the cards view was helpful in a similar manner.

Reason for choosing Trello

Trello was a lot faster, better notifications, better organized, and definitely more suited to the needs of the company.

Hubspot notifications were not being acknowledge by all team members. We were getting behind using this software that we started using to help speed up work and productivity levels. We needed to try something new to see if we could bring all team members to the same work level.

### "Best platform to get every task organised for your business"

April 5, 2022

4.0

Pros

It has many features which have attracted us to buy the software, I have always liked the UX of Trello board for creating different boards, creating different cards and assigning tasks to one another. It's very easy to navigate and does not require any technical expertise to use the tool. Tasks and project management with the help of the board and project tracking have helped us finish and deliver many successful projects.

Cons

The integration with other third-party software is not very straightforward, even the integration with Google Calander which is one of the most important tools to integrate Trello with has been a challenge for us.

### "Trello, a web-based kanban-style list-making application, very intuitive and integratable. "

May 15, 2023

5.0

Overall, the integration of Trello with Atlassian's suite of applications has elevated its functionality and made it a more robust and comprehensive project management solution.

Pros

Trello, a web-based kanban-style list-making application, has experienced significant improvements since being acquired by Atlassian.

Cons

Setting it up is not that intuitive, but then again nothing built to be accurate and precise really is.The acquisition by Atlassian has also brought resources and expertise to Trello, resulting in continuous improvements to the application. The user interface remains intuitive, making it easy for individuals and teams to create and manage their projects using the kanban board system.

Reason for choosing Trello

The integration of Trello with Atlassian's suite of applications has provided users with a seamless experience and improved collaboration across different software development tools. By connecting Trello with JIRA, teams can easily link tasks and issues between the two platforms, allowing for better coordination and visibility across projects. Additionally, the integration with Confluence enables users to embed Trello boards within Confluence pages, enhancing documentation and knowledge sharing.

### "Meet Trello, the everything connected web based platform"

September 18, 2020

4.0

Trello was used by our team for over 1 year while I was on a contract gig. We used it for our everyday task planning and coordination along with TRACTION L-10 meetings where we supplemented progress reports with that system. As I cannot speak for the reporting side of things, I'll cover the basic user side of things. Basically, Trello allows one to create "Cards" that represent a project and add tasks and assignments to the card that folks on the team can track through their notifications. Once you, the author of the card, update it, all connected team members of that card are sent a notification of this update and are reminded to take a look as time allows. The manner in which one can build new pages/boards for each project type is quite simple and easy to learn. Then users simply add "lists" to their "Boards" and the boss has complete oversight over everything. I found it easy to explore new power-ups and try them out, but the more advanced ones may need IT help and some extra expense for the use. As a manager, one will find it easy to tell when folks are actively working and collaborating, but I would warn against using it for an attendance checker. We used Skype to show availability instead.

Pros

The power-ups involving automatic actions to simplify the tedious nature of repetitive tasks (like Butler) The ease of use for customization Categorization, lists, checkboxes, Outlook connector The ability to share files directly for review is the best! Teamwork is now broadened to folks across the world!

Cons

The inability to label the columns with custom images without making a card for it. The fact that power-ups are limited so a trial user can never get the "full effect"
