Answer based on 22539 reviews

Overview

### What company size and industries is Trello built for?

Trello is for small businesses first, with 76% of reviewers from that segment, especially in computer software at 11%. ### How much does it cost and what fees or limitations are included?

Trello starts free, with paid plans from $5/user/month for Standard, $10/user/month for Premium, and $17.50/user/month for Enterprise; a free trial is available. Reviewers often call the free tier useful and affordable, but note limits like 10 boards per workspace, 10MB file uploads, and fewer advanced automation, reporting, and integration features.

Getting Started and Support

### How easy is it to onboard and train a team on Trello?

Trello is generally quick to onboard for everyday users, with boards and cards that many nontechnical team members grasp in minutes or hours. Training is available through live online sessions, webinars, videos, and documentation. Admins, larger teams, and users setting up templates, automations, or integrations usually need more guided training and time.

Still, some report slow follow-up, difficulty reaching direct support, and unresolved account or automation issues.

Answer based on 3010 reviews

Security

### How does Trello handle data security and access control?

Trello uses board privacy settings, role-based and user permissions, view/edit restrictions, two-factor authentication, session tracking, and encryption such as SSL data encryption. Reviewers also note limits: permission controls can feel rigid or insufficiently granular, especially on free plans, and public boards or broad edit rights can create accidental exposure risks.

Overall we have had an easy and very successful experience with Trello. It makes project management easier and faster and allows us to stay organized. The available card and checklist features make every task visually applealing. Also has a very simple interface that person of any level can pick up easily.

Pros

Trello helps us manage projects ,assign tasks ,track progress and work together as a team.Creating cards is very simple and allows easy organization of projects from any location anytime .Offers seamless integration with tools such as Google Drive ,Dropbox etc which makes file sharing convenient and straightforward. The layout is also super visual ,with amazing boards and cards that help us srr exactly what needs to be done and what is a priority.

Cons

The card customization in Trello is abit limited ,more label options and better ways to sort tasks would make each card to be more specific.

My overall experience with Trello has been very positive. I often use it when collaborating with teams that prefer a clear Kanban-style workflow, and it works especially well for keeping responsibilities and project progress visible to everyone. I like that we can start with a very simple board and gradually add more structure as the project grows. Automation is also useful for repetitive actions such as moving cards, assigning tasks or updating workflows. The platform feels flexible and scalable without losing its ease of use, and I think it offers very good value for teams that want practical project management without a heavy setup. I have rarely needed customer support because the core features are easy to understand and generally reliable.

Pros

What I like most about Trello is how quickly a team can understand and start using it. We use it with some project teams to manage Kanban boards, track tasks and keep everyone aligned on what is in progress, completed or waiting for action. Cards, lists, labels, checklists and due dates are simple, but together they provide enough flexibility for very different workflows. It makes project tracking visual and helps the whole team stay productive without adding unnecessary complexity.

Cons

Very large boards can become a little crowded once there are too many cards, lists and team members involved. At that point, keeping the board structure clean requires some discipline. Some more advanced workflows also depend on automation or additional features, but for the way I normally use Trello these are relatively minor limitations.

Trello is a good software in overall for project management whether an individual project or a team project it’s good to use

Pros

I have used trello for project management for years starting from when I was an intern. I like team collaboration, the fact that we can create tasks and see tasks moving from 1 stage to another until completion.

Cons

A feature for personalising the system to match each business’s need whether in Software or anytype of project

We used Trello for around 1-2 years for finance tasks, month end work and some marketing projects. It was very easy for the team to start using and didn't need much training.

Pros

Ease of use is probably the best thing about Trello. The board and card setup is very straightforward, and moving tasks between stages makes it easy to see progress. It also helped productivity because the team had one clear place to check instead of going through emails. For a smaller team, I think this suits better.

Cons

Once you have too many cards or more complicated projects, the boards can start getting messy. Reporting is also quite basic, so it is not the best tool if you want detailed management level reports or to track a lot of projects together.

I’ve been using Trello for years to coordinate jobs for events between our different departments. It’s an easy system to use, and new staff tend to pick it up really quickly, which makes it useful for keeping everyone on the same page.

Pros

I found Trello really easy to use, and the colour coding was especially useful for keeping track of different departments. It made it much easier to see what was going on without having to go through everything.

Cons

One downside is that it can get a bit cluttered when there are lots of boards and cards to keep track of, so it can sometimes take a while to find what you’re looking for.

Trello is such a great product and is always becoming a better tool. This tool would be great for any organization to put their notes on as a group to support the group with organization of their board.

Pros

Trello is a easy tool to organize and a take your notes on. You can easily color code your Trello boad to help you organize your notes.

Cons

I wish Trello was easier to move notes around on. It would be more efficient when collaborting on notes with someone ok a Trello board.

I've been using it for seven months now and my on-time delivery rate went from around 73% to 91%. That's measurable, not a feeling. For a small apparel operation where one missed deadline means a lost client, having every order, fabric shipment, and print job in front of me is worth ten times what I pay. I recommend it to every small manufacturer I meet.

Pros

I track 12 to 15 orders per week across cutting, printing, and packing. Before Trello I lost maybe 20% of my morning hunting through WhatsApp threads and paper notes. Now I open one board and see exactly where each batch sits. Cost is R$21 per month for the premium features, which paid for itself in the first week when I caught a delayed screen print order two days early.

Cons

The mobile app takes three taps to move a card between columns, which adds up when I'm on the production floor checking off finished pieces. I'd also pay extra for a proper inventory counter built into the cards instead of typing numbers into the description field every single time.

It functions like a digital sticky-note wall. Trello is incredibly reliable for daily tasks and small team workflows, though large enterprises might outgrow its simple structure.

Pros

Intuitive interface that requires zero training. Flexible customization using colored labels and custom fields. Seamless collaboration via real-time card comments.

Cons

Limited built-in reporting for large-scale analytics. Becomes cluttered when managing massive, multi-team projects.

Trello has been helpful in ensuring that there is more structure in finance-related processes. It enables us to keep track of deadlines, communicate issues and keep track of the processes involved. As far as task coordination goes, Trello is efficient and reliable.

Pros

I can use Trello to ensure that all month end actions and follow-ups are not overlooked. The owner and due date assignments ensure that each one knows his role, while checklists are handy in performing recurring tasks like reconciliation and close tasks.

Cons

Since Trello was not made specifically for accounting, you will have to perform financial reporting and control in other software. Also, big boards will require some effort in organizing them
