### "Made my design works very easy"

August 13, 2021

5.0

Currently SketchUp is the best software for 3D modelling which is equipped with loads of features which are unavailable in alternative software. And requiring low performance while working very smooth is great. Some complications will occur if you do complex designs but for general purposes this is the best. Can be used even by a beginner without facing issues.

Pros

I needed to design several buildings and used SketchUp to create a 3D model. Before I used SketchUp I thought 3D modelling was hard but with SketchUp, model was done easily and was able to experience how it would look after construction. And with 3D warehouse feature I was able to create very realistic simulation making the design process quite easier. Even as a beginner SketchUp was simple and effective tool. Got many tools to help users in modelling. Best feature is in SketchUp is walk around option which will give real life simulation how the final design will be. Also SketchUp got great plugins which will save both time and money of a designer. With 3D warehouse and extension warehouse a user can build any design using very little effort. What makes SketchUp the best 3D design software is unlike any alternative is ability to run smoothly in any computer. Most CAD software require a high-end computers with high performance system but SketchUp works fine in just any mediocre laptop.

Cons

Using SketchUp through browser was lagging and very slower compared with installed version. And I faced issues with gaps in walls and floors if you meddle with it few times. Also SketchUp need to upgrade to create complex designs because presently it's hard to do so.

### "All models can be realized with SketchUp"

October 17, 2022

4.0

Very good and also fun. Because I can make various models in one software, and to make cost calculations in architectural development that I make in SketchUp without having to leave the UI itself.

Pros

Very easy to use, uncomplicated in UI appearance, and availability of various features that continue to grow in it.

Cons

Sometimes SketchUp is too dependent on add-ons or extensions, making it not completely ready to use.

### "SketchUp for casual and professional designers"

July 1, 2021

3.0

I have had the task of making several models with the program and I feel satisfied since my clients liked each one, it is true that in the cons I explained it, I want it to have keyboard shortcuts for some functions, because the simple fact of clicking to do another action and return to the work area makes the work to be delayed a little, it does not seem but in the long run it was quite a lot of time lost. Otherwise I find it a great program and worth the purchase of the product.

Pros

The positive thing about SketchUp is the ease of use, easy to use, just look at the toolbar and identify what each tool does, with a little practice you will understand the program perfectly. Its tools are varied and very helpful, you will not run out of resources, because there are many ways to do things, the rest depends on the creator. It has a store that already has models made so it facilitates the task when you need an existing resource, so you don't have to do it from scratch.

Cons

What I didn't like when I was making my models is that it doesn't have many keyboard shortcuts that would make it easier to click on each tool in the taskbar, it would be very useful if they added them, because it slows down the user experience.

### "The easiest way to model"

August 1, 2022

5.0

I've been using google sketchup since university, in a short time I was able to present my work in 3d, and I've been using it ever since, and it's been 10 years now.

Pros

What I like most about this programme is the simplicity with which one starts modelling. In a short time you can reach an intermediate level of modelling, and there are many tutorials on the internet. If you add to this the large library of 3d objects available and all the plugins at your disposal, it is the perfect program.

Cons

The only flaw it might have is that the pro version is paid, but it's worth it.

### "Best software for architects and interior designers to learn"

December 22, 2022

4.0

I think this is one of the most basic 3d software you can use. Learning it is so easy that you can start building in it just after an hour of learning. And the results you can get from these are in par with the leading 3d modelling software. If you need rendered views of your project its a very good software.

Pros

Easy to use.Plugins available for most of the tasks.Easy integration with rendering softwares.Light weight so can run on any computer.Newer version can run directly from a web browser without needing to install anything.A very huge components library is available.

Cons

Can be limited in terms of the kind modelling you can do. Working on curves or spheres is not easy so plugins are required for that. Not good for animations or videos.

for a period of time while I was studying architecture , I didn't have much time to learn rendering professionally , I was short on money and my computer wasn't that strong , sketch up helped me go through that time , providing me with basic renders I needed .

Pros

in my opinion the most likable aspect of SketchUp is how easy it is to work with . although i took a course to learn how to work with the software ,it wasn't necessary . you can easily learn the software by browsing through YouTube or other free videos .

Cons

as easy as it is to work with sketch up it doesn't give you a very realistic render. for better and more detailed pictures you either should use another software or improve the renders by using photoshop.

### "Sketchup and 3D Modelling"

August 4, 2025

5.0

The overall experience is fantastic. This is the software I started my journey in 3d modelling and it has been handy ever since. I can easily add and use plugins for various use. Also, the software update is getting better every time.

Pros

I use SketchUp for 3d Modelling. So, the ease of use is the main features that I like about SketchUp. Other thing is, it is easy to install and use plugins in this software. The true version of architectural design is visualized using this software.

Cons

I don't like having to use same command for different use. For example, you have to use M command for both moving and copying albeit you have to use control sign for copying. Still, if there were independent command for each use, it would have been so much easier like AutoCAD

### "Sketchup, a great modeling tool"

March 21, 2025

Use it constantly in my projects to model a portion of a build to convey that to the guys in the field.

Pros

Fast and easy to learn... plenty of assets in the 3d warehouse, plus tons of extensions (some free) that help expedite the process of producing a model.

Cons

Wish some of the third party "paid" extensions would be incorporated into the program itself, especially for the architectural / construction side of things. For instance, Medeek's extensions and Condoc extension... I think if they were to offer a version that was just for architecture with these extensions as part of that package it would go over well... so I don't have to manage 10 other subscriptions and when to renew them and what not.

### "3D modeling for non 3D modelers"

September 26, 2022

5.0

Overall, our team likes to use Sketchup. The ease of being able to express our ideas, and with the accuracy it can now provide, it's definitely a tool that we rely on.

Pros

Sketchup has gained popularity because of its easy UI. Compared to other 3D modeling applications, it is very easy to understand the interface and functionality. For company use, this means ease of training staff. That said, advanced users can still discover features later on through plug-ins and the 3D warehouse.

Cons

We're currently using the free version, of course it is limited. I liked that before they had a perpetual license. Now it's all just subscription, which I find too tedious and stressful as a business owner.

### "SketchUp: A good place to start your 3D modeling experience."

February 16, 2021

5.0

Apart from the occasional hiccup, my experience with the software has been great. Most of the challenges that I've faced was due to user error and due to habits that were hard to shake after switching to SketchUp. SketchUp is great for beginners and professionals alike.

Pros

Compared to other 3D modelling software that I've tried, SketchUp is by far the easiest to learn and even master. Though it comes with less tools and features than most other software, those that are there are exceptionally focused to to create simple models in an efficient manner. The 3D Warehouse is one of this software's best features for at the click of a button, you have access to a wide variety of models ranging from simple doors to incredibly detailed light fixtures. The user interface can be customized to your comfort and the wide range of plugins available in the plugin warehouse makes your modeling possibilities nearly endless. All the free videos that can be found online makes it really easy to learn the software without having to spend any additional funds.

Cons

With the existing features, one is limited to only creating simple models for the software doesn't handle complex curves very well. Though there are plugins that can help, there is only so much you can do. You'd want to keep your file size as small as possible because the program does lag when there is too much information to process. The software is very temperamental. On multiple occasions I've lost progress due to it crashing.

Been using this product for 8 years now and it's always my go to for quick renderings.

Pros

Cons

### "A Versatile and Intuitive 3D Modeling Tool for Creative Design"

May 10, 2023

5.0

SketchUp enables me to create 3D models of spaces, helping me to plan and visualize room layouts, furniture placement, lighting, and material choices. It aids in communicating design ideas to clients and streamlining the design process.

Pros

The Push-Pull tool in SketchUp enables you to quickly extrude 2D shapes into 3D forms by simply clicking and dragging. This feature makes it easy to create and modify complex shapes, allowing for efficient design iterations.

Cons

While SketchUp provides basic materials and rendering capabilities, i will desire more advanced options for realistic material representations and high-quality rendering directly within the software. Integrating more advanced rendering features or improved material libraries could enhance the visualization and presentation of designs.

### "Fast, Easy Modeling With None of the Hassle "

August 1, 2020

5.0

All in all, Sketchup’s purpose is for modeling subjects that pertain to architecture and structures, and to do so quickly. It can go into finer modeling subjects and it can do much, much more than just modeling, but not nearly as good as other programs can. If your needs are under a time constraint (such as most real-world job requirements) and you need to consistently model structures that don’t need a photo-realistic feel, Sketchup is the perfect tool for you.

Pros

Sketchup takes the complexity of modeling and design programs and delivers the power that you need but with none of the hassle. One of the best things about Sketchup is simply its ease of use. If you can think of a way to model something, you likely can within the program and if you can’t, there’s probably an extension built that you can download for that purpose. Additionally, Sketchup’s openness to new users is amazing. They have a free version which is still very powerful as well as numerous helpful training courses for users to explore. Finally, the programs inclusions of key tools makes it a game changer when compared to other programs. It has the ability to get specific and deep into the details of a model, should it be needed. But it really shines when your purpose is for fast modeling to give your audience that extra push. Sketchup provides tools that let you do just that, and do so quickly. Things like their Google Earth inclusion means that you can drop your model into a real world setting with very minimal working time.

Cons

It does, at times, feel like it has it has limitations, specifically when models get large and extremely detailed. It won’t matter how powerful your computer is, certain large models just won’t run well within the program. Also, features that are very important for my work either require separate programs or lots of extra work time to get right. Exporting into Adobe Illustrator is one of these workflow issues. You can export your Sketchup file into a 2D graphic, but there’s no easy way to do so if your model is dimensionally large as it won’t fit into your Illustrator file. Another pain point is finishing details. Sketchup allows you to play with lighting and textures, but sometimes their tools just are not enough. That’s required me to look further into other programs such as Blender.

February 26, 2022

Simple and very light. With some 3rd party plugins, this software is just the best we can use and afford, with very valuable result.

Pros

After all, this software is more than valuable for a designer with fast paced working timeline like me and my team. Working with other 3D designing software needs much more computer resources, while this one can run on very low-end computers in no time

Cons

Integration with warehouse sometimes creating gap in synchronization, maybe the requirement to sign in to an account can be eliminated in future development

### "An amazing modelling software"

June 17, 2021

4.0

The software has aided my design a lot, the lack of BIM information hasn't been much of a drawback either as it has allowed me explore my design options that a wouldn't do with a conventional modelling software. Its ease of use is also extremely commendable.

Pros

The "Push/Pull" button is a particular favourite of mine, it makes 3D imaging seem like child's play. Its compatible with most document formats so you can import from one app to another seamlessly. The installation package is extremely light and easy to DIY.

Cons

A little drawback while using the app is that you don't get notifications for an error while modelling and if such error is not quickly rectified, they can continue to pile up and it can be a real pain like finding a pin in a haystack. Also, the occasional crashes that happen when working on a large project can be a tad annoying.

### "Sketchup and 3D Modeling made easy"

January 4, 2021

5.0

Overall, the functionalities are great and the price is just right for it. Although it just takes time to learn the tricks but it is worth it. Also, I had a few exchanges with support and was pleased they gave me the answers in a timely manner. I was inquiring about using a house decoration in my design. Just making sure what the permissions from the owner of the model allows me..

Pros

I like Sketchup because it makes 3D modeling easier. I used to think that similar apps on 3D modeling is complicated and to the point that you'd have to be an architect or engineer yourself to do it. For me, hearing CAD designing is somewhat a complicated process. But with this, I'm happy to have those house designs materialize. It is easy and you won't lose your way basing your reference lines on the X,Y, and Z axis. It is also awesome because you can snap your lines to align with any axis. These are models for windows, doors, appliances to decorate your home with, and you can even download for more. And the best part for me is to have that guy model walk around your house design to give you a feel of your finished product.

Cons

Using the browser can be a bit of a pain sometimes as I had a few times of lagging when your design details accumulate. But the app works seamlessly. I'm not sure with other browsers but I tried it with Chrome and Firefox but haven't used it with Opera and Edge. In the apps, there are just a very few times when the lines don't align and there can be gaps on the walls if you mess around a lot with skewing and stretching the surfaces but it can be fixed and you can initially lock the lines into groups so that you can ensure it stays the same and locked in place, and also for ease of duplication.

Reason for choosing SketchUp

The apps I mentioned were just too complicated for me as a beginner at that time. Sketchup tools are easier to use and there's tons of Youtube videos to give you a crash course as I was so excited to jump in and do my models right away.

### "SketchUp is the BEST."

March 6, 2023

5.0

SketchUp is an EXCELLENT product, it is easy to use (yet extremely powerful), inexpensive, and very feature rich.

Pros

Unlike other 3D modeling programs that (almost) require you to have a degree's worth of training SketchUp is so intuitive and simple you can (almost ) figure it out without any training whatsoever. In about an hour you are designing fairly complex projects. But don't let its easy accessibility fool you, it is CRAZY powerful. SketchUp is just as powerful as programs costing MANY THOUSANDS of dollars. I use several 3D design platforms and SketchUp is always my go to when prototyping ideas or designing 3D printing projects.

Cons

Going from SketchUp to CNC/CAM isn't great. That is the Achilles heel with this product IMO. Hopefully someday they will improve this area of SketchUp.

### "Great 3D Modeling software "

September 26, 2021

5.0

Overall I am very satisfied with Sketchup. It is compatible with most other softwares, that I use. Because of the affordability of the software, it is a great addition to my main drawing softwares and is a great tool for editing 3D Models, which I mostly use it for.

Pros

I like the rather simple use of sketchup, how easy it is to edit even the tiniest parts of an object. It allows me to edit or form objects, that I can't edit with f.e. Archicad. I also love, that the software is very affordable, that was the main point for me to even try it out, cause I did not have to spend crazy amounts of money to properly learn or trial the software. As I do not use it as main main software, the price is affordable enough for me to still buy it as an extra.

Cons

As easy it is to use, if your model gets too big or you import a certain amount of objects into sketchup, it starts to lag and it gets really annoying to move around the project. I do have a powerful PC, so it is not always the problem of your PC. Sketchup could include more free features and add ons for modeling.

I have been working on Sketchup for 3 years. This is a very good software for making buildings of different types of shapes and it is very easy to do so, as it has a 3D warehouse from where you can pick up complete furniture or items from the model. Then there are plugins which help you a lot in making difficult shapes easily.

Pros

SketchUp, combined with its various plugins, is a powerful tool for architecture students.Easy to learn interface , best for beginners. Offers wide range of plugins, extensions, and tools for creating innovative 3d models. It has ability to create a photorealistuc render with the help of plugins like V-ray, Lumion, and Enscape.

Cons

Sketchup has performance issues large and complex models can cause SketchUp to slow down or crash, especially on less powerful computers. Mastering advance extensions, tools, and plugins can take time .
