### "3D Rendering Made Easy with SketchUp Pro"

September 18, 2018

5.0

I use SketchUp Pro in my work as an urban planner and designer to show our clients what new street improvements would look like in the real world. I am able to render a street with new lanes, vehicles, bus stops, etc in SketchUp and match that model to a photo of the street. This allows elected officials and city staff to quickly see what a street will look like if the recommended changes take effect. This helps sell our work and pushes it to the next stage.

Pros

Users can make fantastically complicated and highly detailed 3D renderings using SketchUp that have the ability to impress clients. SketchUp is relatively easy to use for this type of software and most users will be able to pick it up fairly quickly. Personally, I use SketchUp to render changes to an existing landscape using the Match Photo tool. This allows my clients to quickly visualize what the recommended change will look like in real life. There are a large number of guides and tutorials available to help teach this software to newcomers.

Cons

SketchUp can be a tricky to use because everything is laid out in 3D. This can make orienting yourself to the correct plane difficult. Some of the controls are counter intuitive and do not match up with other drawing software (like Adobe Illustrator) which can lead to mistakes. The final exports delivered from SketchUp have a low quality look to them and need to be imported to Photoshop to achieve a more real looking effect. These are not deal breaking issues and can be solved easily with some practice.

### "The best for 3D desiging"

June 4, 2020

4.0

It is great for visualisation of architecture and workd super fast! customers are snappier to sign the contract if they see what they will get.

Pros

Does not matter if you are beginner or advanced user... It is so fun and free to experiment with in the beginning, and you can make your models as complex as you want too as advanced user. This is just a program I love! it can be used in alot of professional fields: Architecture, games, movies, etc...

Cons

Because it is so free and creative it lacks abit in case of going technicaly in detail of a model like for example an engine... the delivered "Layout" software is far from perfect, it can be frustrating the dimensions are not that easy sometimes to place as if you were compare that with autocad.

Reason for choosing SketchUp

The ease of use

### "easiest 3d modeling software "

November 1, 2023

4.0

for a period of time while I was studying architecture , I didn't have much time to learn rendering professionally , I was short on money and my computer wasn't that strong , sketch up helped me go through that time , providing me with basic renders I needed .

Pros

in my opinion the most likable aspect of SketchUp is how easy it is to work with . although i took a course to learn how to work with the software ,it wasn't necessary . you can easily learn the software by browsing through YouTube or other free videos .

Cons

as easy as it is to work with sketch up it doesn't give you a very realistic render. for better and more detailed pictures you either should use another software or improve the renders by using photoshop.

### "Semplice e intuitivo"

February 24, 2024

4.0

### "The thing I love about SketchUp is that it makes sense."

July 24, 2018

5.0

Pros

When I first started using SketchUp, I was impressed at how everything was where I expected it to be. I had used really high-end CAD systems, and some lower-end ones, and they didn't quite feel like second nature...ever. SketchUp is one of those tools that simply does. You look in a place you think an option should be, and it is. Great set of tools, for all. As a hobby woodworker, this software is awesome.

Cons

There is something to be said about having an open development system and a large community. The problem is, community plugins are rarely tested on more than a few system. This led me to download tools and find they just didn't work as expected. Stick to the stock tools, or those made by the company.

### "Super beginner-friendly 3D software"

April 12, 2022

4.0

Sketchup is a great piece of software. It is powerful, yet easy to use. You can also add-on missing functionality with 3rd party add-ins. I really enjoy the speed that you can model something meaningful using this software. They might want to consider adding a few more advanced features that are the most requested by users to make it even better out of the box.

Pros

The ease of use is the big selling point for this software. Most 3D modeling software has a huge learning curve, but that is largely eliminated here. The other thing to note is that just because it is beginner friendly, does not mean that you can't do some really nice modeling details. It still has plenty of functionality for most people and a large user base that you can rely on to ask questions.

Cons

There sometimes seems to be simple things that are missing from the base software. One thing that comes to mind is a mirroring feature. It can be done, but it is much less intuitive than with other similar software packages.

Reason for choosing SketchUp

I didn't choose SketchUp instead of other software. Instead, it works great alongside other applications and in certain stuations.

sketch up is highly versatile and user friendly 3d modelling software for a range of design and visualization tasks, while it may have its limitations in advanced rendering, its ease of use and excellent customer support makes it a popular choice for 3d modeling

Pros

the best visualization tool for 3d modeling , it can be used for architectural design , interior design ,urban planning, and land scaping. it is the best tool to generate realistic renderings

Cons

tough to model complex geometry. external rendering plugins are required for more advanced rendering needs. as the model complexity increases software becomes slower

### "The easiest software for drawings"

November 5, 2021

4.0

SketchUp is the best programming for 3D displaying, which is outfit with heaps of components inaccessible in programming. Furthermore, requiring low execution while working extremely smooth is incredible. A few difficulties will happen if you do complex plans, yet this is awesome for general purposes.

Pros

It is absolutely a user-friendly software other than the other similar software. I like the reasonably primary utilization of SketchUp that it is so natural to alter even the most minor pieces of an article that shows that this software is extraordinarily detail-oriented. Therefore, it is perfect for beginners to do 3D modeling. I likewise love that the product is entirely reasonable; that was the central matter for me to try and give it a shot cause I didn't need to go through insane measures of cash to learn or preliminary the product appropriately.

Cons

At times, SketchUp closes out without saving programmed changes, making you lose your work. Comparatively, this software is way easier than AutoCAD, and I would highly recommend this software to beginners.

Pretty much amazing when it comes to 3D modelling.

Pros

The software is really easy o use and navigate when it comes to modelling in the architecture industry. I have been able to produce visualizations overnight because of the ease to pull and merge components from simple 2d plans.

Cons

Its not the best drafting software.....they can do better.

### "SketchUp, fast 3d modelling for Design & Architecture."

August 15, 2022

5.0

I used SketchUp to design a complex trade stand in a pretty short timeframe... which at the time impressed the boss no end! The free version is capable of producing some great results, the upgrade is well worth it though for increased import and export capabilities and much, much more.

Pros

I like SketchUp's intuitive user interface and short learning curve, compared to more dedicated CAD software, making it ideal for those who seek to get impressive results quickly. All the tools are here to make some great presentations.

Cons

It would have been nice to have at least one 3d import file type in order to better evaluate the free version.

### "Powerful but high learning curve"

July 13, 2018

4.0

The ability to design and plan small projects such as building a floating bunk bed for my kids to large projects such as planning every square in of a gym to insure space usage and equipment fitting at a new location.

Pros

I love the endless possibilities of the software. It allowed you to do almost anything you want , from a small project such as making plans for a loft bed to planning facilies, buildings and more. I love the ever growing shared Library of objects to use and already made plans to help you not starting from scratch or gaining inspiration from. True to google way the product over delivers in quality and functionality.

Cons

As powerful as this software is it could be a little more user friendly. The ability and power to truly be able to sketch anything exactly as you want it comes with a price and that is ease of use. Commonly used simple things such as walls can sometimes be challenging to put and the ability to just create a room with dimensions is non existent . One has to create wall by wall. This is also affected by flooring being difficult to put in top in a way that if you edit or delete the flooring ( such as rug) you don't affect or delete the floor underneath it. I am sure many of these problems come because of the relatively short time of use and as a byproduct of making the software powerful enough to bring any dreams and ideas to paper.

### "An Architect's Tool, value for Money & Time"

August 28, 2018

4.0

Overall i would say it's a amazing software little bit of refinement is always good. the more you use the more you will love this software.

Pros

As a young architect with freshly minted new ideas & spontaneous generation in this fast moving world sketchUp is amazing companion. There are many good things which i would like to mention are: 1. Usability, very easy to use for beginners. 2. Compatibility, importing drawings from other software never a problem. 3. Smart Software, it just thinks for you, creating new ideas is a easy task in it, some tools like sandbox tool are some good tool which can enhance your concept & ideas 4. Shadow & Geo-location tool makes it different software from others.

Cons

Nothing is perfect in this world, but we have to keep on improving that's what human nature is all about, so there are just few things which can be improved as per my usage. 1. Material can be improved, little bit of ageing and sharpness or hardness of tools can be very helpful 2. Sometime it just crashes suddenly that's very irritating

### "Intuitive 3D Modeling"

September 15, 2021

There are some small bugs that need to be fixed otherwise its perfect for modeling

Pros

This is the most intuitive 3D Model Software, really easy to use and learn, it works with a low specifications compter, its fast to work with it.

Cons

It has some bugs when you use the orthogonal view, when you use this and you try to zoom in to a detail of your model the model just disappeared and you need to zoom out.

### "Sketchup is a great tool for preliminary modeling and visualization. Very intuitive and easy to use!"

January 16, 2018

5.0

As a general contractor, Sketchup allows us to present models to our clients in simple and intuitive ways without giving them too much information. We have used Sketchup a number of times to create quality graphics for our presentations when selling work as well.

Pros

Sketchup does a great job making something complicated, like 3D modeling, and making it extremely simple. I know some friends with no experience in modeling that have picked this up intuitively. The Pro version allows integrations into other software like Autodesk Revit which increases the value. There are also a number of plugins that allow you to create quality renderings, walkthroughs, animations, and so much more!

Cons

Sketchup is great for preliminary design and visualization but in when the design process gets farther along, it cannot keep up very well. There's no data assigned to Sketchup elements which keeps the model size down but you can't do anything with it other than visualize. There's nothing necessarily wrong with this... It's just a limitation of the software.

### "SketchUp saved my life!!"

April 11, 2020

5.0

Pros

I LOVE SketchUp!!! I have used so many 3D softwares but this one takes the cake. Not only is it easy to use, it also looks SO good when rendered with the correct software. I have used Revit in the past, and when it comes to design planning and space planning Sketchup just looks so much better every time, I think compared to others Sketchup has so many more options and the ability to add finishes is so much easier and importing furniture is also so easy. Another thing I love is how easy it is to build furniture, every time I do I am so happy with the result. SketchUp is the one!

Cons

The only thing that I wish sketch had was a 2D view of the floor plan and the ability to make elevations and things like that, but other than that I love it.

### "Sketchup"

April 8, 2022

5.0

Sketchup is a very useful software to have if you are doing Interior Design. The functionality of the program is excellent and there are a lot of YouTube videos that can give you a quick crash course to use the program. It is a very useful 3D program and the navigation is excellent. I will not use another program other than Sketchup.

Pros

You won't get lost using the X, Y and Z reference lines. There are a lot of models to use and you can download more if you want to. You don't need to be an architect or engineer to use the software, it is very easy to use.

Cons

It can be a bit tricky to find all the tools. The package prices can be a bit high for a beginner. You do need a lot of RAM and a very good graphics card.

### "Everything you can ask for."

April 26, 2023

5.0

I enjoy the unlimited creativity level of SketchUp. I know that I can find what I am looking for, or make it using the product. Hands down, my renderings have greatly improved because of the amount of quality 3D imaging and assets in their warehouse.

Pros

I enjoy that I can find most digital files in the warehouse to complete my design. I also love the ability to adjust and adapt most products to fit what I am looking for.

Cons

There are occasions that many items are bulky and not vetted before uploaded into the warehouse. This makes it difficult to outside rendering platforms to render interiors quicker.

### "Decent if you have the time"

August 6, 2020

4.0

SketchUp has endless possibilities for creators, but could be a bit more user friendly and faster. Takes too long to even open the add-ons, but is still a good program for aspiring designers.

Pros

I love that there are so many options and so many things you can create in SketchUp. Among other softwares, it has a smoother interface and is easier to learn, if you are dedicated to learning the program. They offer the program to students and educators for way cheaper than retail price, which is very nice for students to get in and learn how to operate SketchUp before having to pay the full price. Still a learning curve, but a good place to start for someone who has no experience in CAD.

Cons

You absolutely need a computer mouse to use the program, trying to navigate and create without one is near to impossible. Add- ons like the " Warehouse" , while very helpful and cool, can be extremely laggy. Takes forever to load in an item, and difficult to place.

### "Stands out in a sea of competitors"

January 3, 2023

5.0

I have used both the free web version and the "Go" version of the software, and I think both are very intuitive (although a pretty steep learning curve is still there) and carry extensive features and tools. It is definitely a worthwhile piece of software for those in need of a 3D modeling app.

Pros

What I like most about Sketchup is the wide array of pricing plans they have available. One can use a free web version or pay almost $1000 for a broader set of features and tools. Many of the tools are worth paying for, however, I couldn't justify that kind of spending on 3D modeling software.

Cons

What I think could be improved about this software is the library of free assets. I feel like many more could be easily included without charge. Also, the price on some of the paid assets is somewhat steep. If a user is paying high dollar for the studio version, for instance, then they probably don't feel great about shelling out more cash for some digital art pieces.

### "Sketchup-Visualisation made easy "

April 26, 2021

4.0

Sketchup helps me create Architectural and Interior models and also allows render through various plugins. It helps me to explain the client all the small detailings for a project.

Pros

The best part of Sketchup is its ease of use. It allows you to visualise 3D practically. The interface itself gives complete freedom to express yourself. The additional plugins allow creating complex forms and helps you to create complex detailings in a very easy manner.

Cons

It is difficult to manage the workflow as a beginner on Sketchup. Creating complex models in the beginning is time taking as it requires lot of practice to get perfection.
