### "Design To Build"

April 2, 2022

5.0

I like SketchUp due to its simplicity especially to one who does not have any architectural design experience. I have used it in PV courses to design buildings regard to real site conditions. In addition, I have use it to design my apartment and make good plan to construct to reduce any faults. From 5 years and I have using SketchUp and I do any project before start to construct it.

Pros

I like how it is simple where any beginner can use it. We can import any drawing from AutoCAD to SketchUP and start to design our projects. We can link it with other programs like PVSyst to make our study and calculation on PV Projects. It has large scale of products in its warehouse where we can bring it to our design.

Cons

Sometimes SketchUp hang when design has many details or we want to bring some products from warehouse due to its size in addition for requesting to sign in for one more time. It is need high minimum requirements of PC hardware and software to download it and start well.

### "Good for Architects.. Bad for Civil Engineers"

March 12, 2020

4.0

I have been using this for at least 3 years. Why do I like this ? Because it the best for rendering and getting a visibly beautiful output of my design. I usually use AutoCAD and Revit for detailed modeling and construction detailing. But whenever I need to present my model to someone, I use rendered sketches and views to convey the idea.

Pros

This is the most flexible software for modeling. If you dream about it, you can model/design it. Its that simple. Architects love this software because it gives them the freedom to design whatever they think. It has fewer constraints. Its different render engines give us way too realistic output compared to other modeling software like AutoCAD.

Cons

I can say this is NOT a SMART software. why? Because- 1) It's not Building Information Modelling compatible- you cant use data in any BIM tool. 2) Components built in this does not have properties as other software as Revit has.- Its just good for 'looks' 3) Import/Export to other platforms is not available.- Interoperability is poor for data transfer

### "SketchUp Rating"

My experience is the best possible, I use softwere every day and get amazing results with it, in addition to speed and ease.

Pros

The softwere is amazing, for me it is the best for those who work with 3D architecture.

Cons

The only thing I don't "like" in softwere is the cost, which really is a pretty high value.

It is a great tool for easy 3D modeling but not the best for construction documents or project management.

Pros

I love how easy it is to create 3D views in SketchUp. We can do anything we can imagine there.

Cons

I think SketchUp needs to step up in what is up to date in 3D modeling. Maybe integrate a little of the BIM approach. Also, they need more marketing on how it is best useful for its purpose.

### "SketchUp - 3D Modelling made easy"

May 12, 2021

5.0

When i make a 3d model of an Air Handling unit, I able to show it to the trainee employee without going to the site. Even the Engineers were amaze on what SketchUp can do.

Pros

It's easy to use. Very user friendly software compare to other 3d modelling apps. In just few minutes you can build a perfect 3d model. Measurement is accurate you can make modelling for a 3d printing job. there's a lot of 3d sample available in Trimble.

Cons

if you want to move some parts on your 3d model that's the time you will use a moving tools and it will takes time. Also when setting up camera, but you can make it through.

### "SKP is Easiest 3D Modeler"

March 12, 2020

5.0

Was my first introduction to 3D modeling software and continues to be heavily used in my day to day workflow.

Pros

SketchUp is remarkably easy to use. The design space is incredibly user friendly and does not overwhelm the user with so many tools and operations that they need to learn a lot. Great for quick modeling and 3D visualization. Also has access to a robust user create digital warehouse and integration with Google Maps.

Cons

The layer management does not allow sublayers. Nurbs are not able to be modeled, all curved geometry in SketchUp is faceted (although not visible)

### "SketchUp: An Intuitive Software for Young Designers"

November 29, 2021

4.0

SketchUp is a great software for students learning to design. My peers and I always look forward to using SketchUp because we know that the program is intuitive but still filled with interesting features. Even if we don't know how to use these features initially, it is not hard to find easy instructions to figure out how they work.

Pros

My peers and I love using SketchUp for design projects. The software has always been intuitive and easy to use, even on Mac (which can be hard to find in other design software). The menu buttons are intuitive compared to AutoCad but there are still thousands of features to use. Creating a design in SketchUp takes significantly less long compared to other programs due to the easy design of the software. Even if I am using a feature that I've never used before on the program, it tends to be intuitive and I don't have to spend hours searching for solutions on the internet.

Cons

Some of the mouse/keypad functions are confusing, especially on Mac. I find it too easy to zoom in or out when I am working on a design if I'm just a keypad as I design. It is annoying to always have to correct this. I wish that features such as zoom in/out were not as sensitive to keypad changes.

### "Great when Used Appropriately"

December 30, 2018

4.0

Pros

In a field known for complicated and difficult to navigate programs, SketchUp is probably the simplest to use 3D modelings and designing tools available. That's not to say that it is basic and not well featured, as it can fulfill the tasks of architecture design software such as 2020 or AutoCAD. SketchUp features a clean and easy to navigate interface. Importing images or other user's content is very easy and helps expedite the design process. Export options are nice, with full color printouts for architecture tasks and many options for exporting 2d or 3d models and designs.

Cons

Understand that SketchUp Pro is a direct modeler. This makes SketchUp an unsuitable tool for parametric modeling tasks such as CAD and 3d printing. SketchUp lacks CAD functions such as easily creating chamfers. If a user is looking for software to accomplish CAD or 3d Printing tasks, it would best be advise to look elsewhere.

### "SketchUp Pro is a designer's life saver"

February 28, 2019

5.0

SketchUp can help anyone in the design industry start from concept to a final 3D design for buildings or elements. It is very versatile and easy to use. It is definitely recommendation worthy to all architects.

Pros

This softwares allows you to design both in 2D and 3D with a free range of motion for building designs. It comes with a massive library updated by users across the world. It is also very light on your graphics card.

Cons

The render quality for 3D objects is not as good as other softwares, and for good quality other add-on rendering engines have to be purchased.

### "The best 3D design tool to architects "

July 23, 2022

5.0

Pros

I use many different 3D programs for my design anywhere from simple massing to realistic rendering. Sketchup is by far the most frequently used program and it is my favorite. Easy/simple pull and push features help generate massing quickly when I need to visualize buildings in 3D. I also use it to 3D print building models. Sketchup now has added multiple features that can generate realistic rendering as well. Its compatibility with google earth is also a plus and that is something no other program can do.

Cons

This software is mostly used in the schematic design phase. Once I move onto construction documents, sketchup is seldom used as it is not designed for drafting. Although it is compatible with autocad, it is not as powerful as CAD or revit in generating detailed CD drawings.

### "SketchUp best to show your creativity, good to view and create 3D."

August 25, 2020

5.0

Overall experience it is very good software to show your creativity and very useful in planning and see the layouts and drawings. Very helpful for us in future projects to be able to visualize and see it in 3D. It is very helpful as it serve as our guide in doing projects.

Pros

What I like most about the Sketchup is you have the freedom to be creative create anything that you want. Very minimalist buttons and it very nice and very convenient for me as a user. I love it very much I do warehouse layout in 3D and also you can make even the smaller parts very easy to use.

Cons

Very demanding software for your computer you need a good PC with a good graphic card on it, because of the 3D that you draw the files getting larger. I hope that Sketchup integrate a extension that you don't need to download although you can download extensions that makes your file size smaller I hope that Sketchup integrate it with their software so you don't need to download extensions.

### "Nice tool for 3d modeling "

July 29, 2023

5.0

When it comes to 3d modeling for the visualization purposes of the client, this is one of the best tools in the market.

Pros

I used to model with this tool since my university period and a marvelous tool for architectural modeling. Best feature of the software is simplicity and user friendliness. Modeling with SketchUp is just like building structure with building blocks. It does not requires advance knowledge which we need in AutoCAD 3d or Revit. When it comes to 3d rendering, SketchUp models works well than others.

Cons

As per my experience, this tool only suits for visualization purposes. For drafting and making drawings, have to use an advance tool.

### "Most user friendly 3D designing software in the world!"

August 30, 2019

4.0

As a Student and a junior architect, I'm using Sketch up pro for my day to day architecture works like 3D modelling and visualization. Even though it's simple with few tools, I think you can model anything when you get used to the software. Sketch up becomes way more powerful when its used with extensions like V-Ray and etc.

Pros

As architects and designers, we don't have much time to be around software and study them before we use them. Sketch up is the most friendly design software I've encountered in my career as a Student and a Junior architect. Another pro about Sketch up is, even you use it every day, you'll have something new to learn from it, almost every time you use it.

Cons

As Sketch up comes with it's own simplicity, The capacity of the software is less, in relation to the professional levels. Sometimes it comes with serious bugs which may lose you of hours of work! (most of them due to over-loading of models).

### "A powerful tool if you know how to use it. "

October 13, 2022

4.0

Sketchup is where I learned how to create 3D landscape designs. The results were phenomenal, and helped us sell a lot of landscape projects. However, the time and cost to produce those results often were too much for what the job/client could bare.

Pros

I like how once you get to know the software, you feel like pretty much anything is possible with it.

Cons

Sketchup is not adapted well for making landscape designs quickly. With the Uvision software we use now, you can switch between 2D and 3D layouts effortlessly. In UVision, when you are building your design in either 2D or 3D, the program is also automatically laying it out in the other version making multiple viewpoints of you design effortless and much less time consuming. Also, UVision has a label wizard making labeling a breeze which was always so difficult and time consuming on Sketchup.

Reason for choosing SketchUp

At first glance, UVision looked kind of cheap compared to sketchup. (I was wrong).

### "Rapid 3D Modelling"

August 23, 2022

I have found Sketchup to be invaluable. Armed with just the basics of drafting, one can develop 3D drawings quite quickly and accurately.

Pros

Sketchup borrows upon previous CAD experience and contains the tools necessary to develop drawings in 3D very quickly, including 2D layouts and surfacing.

Cons

The learning curve is steep but the online community has an abundance of help available. Also, there are a number of authors who have released books regarding RAD drawing with Sketchup.

### "This program allows to realize models in third dimension of buildings and furniture of simple form."

May 10, 2018

5.0

This programs for me is one of the best is very intuitive easy to use makes lifting in 3d very quickly has compatibility with files made in autocad

Pros

You can make the three-dimensional design, starting from lines, circles and rectangles. It allows to copy, rotate and move the parts. From two-dimensional figures I can generate three-dimensional volumes through the command of pushing pull. Search existing models online and adapt them to my particular design. It has functions that give texture to the elements, such as: wood, metal, marble, among others. Images are captured in different angles and render with very good definition.

Cons

When the file has many details, it tends to get slow, since it requires a computer with high storage capacity . Also when importing files from Autocad to Sketchup, you have to verify the scale, since it tends to distort the drawing

I use SketchUp for planning server rooms and for some home projects and I like it.

Pros

I like that with SketchUp it is easy to draw all that you need. SketchUp is very easy to learn and new users very quickly start to use it. I also like it user-friendly interface.

Cons

It may has performance issues for very complex models and some users miss advanced rendering capabilities, but for me it is enough, because I use it mainly for floor plans.

4.0

It is free to download and it is compatible with all of the computers we have

Pros

SketchUp has over 20 million users worldwide making it have an active community of users online who share tips and tricks that have value.

Cons

We frequently need to utilize a different rendering program since SketchUp's rendering is inadequate and make it difficult to produce industry standard renderings.

### "All of the sudden, I can draw!!"

October 25, 2018

4.0

I can take dimensions, draw a possible product, render it, and send it with the quote. It has helped immensely.

Pros

I cannot draw on paper. I am terrible. But I am also very creative and have always been frustrated with the things that I am able to create in my head but not convey to others due to technicalities. Now, my artistic ability has an avenue for success.

Cons

There are so many things that are hard to get used to about the controls and the angles and the planes, etc. But, once you do you are good to go. I happened to have an excellent teacher who blows my mind with the speed and accuracy of the things he draws in next to no time at all. My point is that if you want to be successful with sketchup, it is best to have an experienced user teach you. There is no way i would have been able to teach myself.
