Transitioning to Lightspeed Restaurant has been a mixed experience, marked by high-performance hardware but a challenging implementation phase. While the system excels in processing speed and hardware reliability, the software architecture requires a significant time investment to master. It feels like a powerful engine that lacks a user-friendly manual; it is capable of handling high volumes, but getting the workflow "just right" for a specific business model requires patience and a fair amount of independent troubleshooting. Pros

We recently switched from Squre to Lightspeed and have been impressed y the hardware performance. The POS and printers are significately faster, and once you master the menu-building logic, it offers more flexibility than our previous setup. While the onboarding process was a bit of a self-taught journey and the software has a few quirks-particularly regarding paper usage and takeout workflows-the core engine is powerful. We are already seeing the benefits of the increased speed during busy shifts. We're hopeful that as we continue to optimize our configuration and as the platform rolls out updates, it will fully meet our operational needs. A solid choice if you're looking for a robust, high-speed system!

Cons

Complexity of Implementation: Onboarding is done by users themselves, with a long response time to support questions, making the learning curve very high. Workflow Problems: Some processes such as handling takeaway orders and reversing charges require additional efforts and involve back office processes, making services slow. Limited Customization: Rigid menu design, limited options for ticket settings result in wasting a lot of paper and poor formatting for ticketing.

Pros

Logiciel très facile à utiliser, le service à la clientèle est excellent et très réactif! Belle entreprise canadienne!

Cons

Je dois avouer que ce pourrait être plus dynamique. La formule est très carré très pure, et parfois j'aime ca plus créatif! Sinon c'est vraiment bien

### "Choose Lightspeed!"

Lightspeed was, is, and will continue to be great for us. Staff loves the ease of use of the front end. I love the simplicity of updating the online site, the data available for export in the office, and the full integration with our other software.

Pros

We had the highest expectations for Lightspeed POS and have been ecstatic about the choice. Staff appreciates the ease of use and the quick customization (once familiar with back office which does not take that long). We have continued to appreciate the helpful 24 hour customer service team. Even when they did not have answers for our unique problems, they always did their best to figure out a workaround. The ability to export raw data of every receipt item for every receipt entered has proven invaluable. With knowledge of Excel, data analytics have been insightful and highly beneficial. Since the pandemic began, Lightspeed has continued to innovate and has improved their product which has allowed us to create an online ordering site for pickup and delivery. And the best part is full integration with our online site, POS, accounting software, and scheduling software.

Cons

First, no POS is perfect, including Lightspeed. Understanding the back end has allowed us to create work arounds for things the software is currently incapable of doing as intended at this time. One thing has been problems with combos, which we resolved with a workaround. The biggest con is the process used for some software upgrades. Understandably, when a request is made often, it is pushed up the programmer's priority list. There are however some upgrades that, although not highly requested, can definitely improve the product. I have several requests into the programmers at this time.

Lightspeed being Ipad based was the first consideration which eliminated some. Then online reputation, customer service, and sales process were taken into account. And, as a publicly traded company, the Lightspeed stock at the time of purchase was in the news and it was at the start of it's rise. At this writing, it is almost triple that price.

Eén van de eerste klanten geweest van Posios, nog op hun kleine kantoor te Gent veel samengezeten om hun dienstverlening te verbeteren, samen met founder \[gevoelige inhoud verborgen\]. Deze mensen hadden nog oor naar hun klanten. Heel veel uitwisseling om de software zo sterk mogelijk te maken. Toffe software, toffe medewerking, een luisterend oor naar de klant toe.In 2014 worden zij overgenomen door het Canadese Lightspeed. De eerste jaren verlopen nog zeer correct en krijgen wij een prima dienstverlening.Echter, de laatste 5 jaar hebben zij een enorme expansie meegemaakt en lopen de accountmanagers de ganse markt af om peperdure contracten af te sluiten die idd tot 250/300% duurder zijn geworden op 1 a 2 jaar tijd.Mocht de service en dienstverlening, technische support etc kunnen volgen, zouden wij hier allemaal geen problemen mee hebben. Echter wordt er bij technische issues keer na keer gefaald en duurt het wekenlang tot zaken opgelost zijn, omdat ze het gewoon niet kunnen en de hete appel doorgeschoven wordt keer na keer naar een andere collega. Op het callcenter zitten jonge zeer onervaren medewerkers die het probleem vaak niet snappen.Elk probleem wordt geescaleerd naar hun technical support of customer succes mensen, gewoon medewerkers met iets meer ervaring die dan met veel sorry en excuses de boel proberen r

### "Not The Same Company They Used To Be"

The first two years we used Lightspeed was awesome. Year three the software was failing weekly. We went two weeks without the inventory purchase order system, because Lightspeed told us it was a probelm on our end. The deny they had problems. We went a long time without being able to process payments because a clitch in their system. I personally beleive they were growing too fast. It was clear that they accepted that they would loose customers through out the process.

Pros

When we started with Lightspeed it was awesome. There was a time I couldn't say enough about how much we liked Lightspeed.

Cons

As they grew and added features and modules the program always had serious deabilitating gliches. Their customers support went from A+ to F in three years.

### "Not interested in much other than sales"

Implementation was terrible. The salesman made onboarding sound very simple, but when I was putting my items into the system, it was no better than square to do. The company's idea of helping you seems to be to create videos for you to figure out their software so that they don't really have to help you. The few times I called to try to get help with items, the support staff was very short and seemed more interested in just getting you off the phone and moving on. Perhaps there performance reviews are based on quantity of clients "helped". I was very clear with the sales team about what I needed for my business. I messed up when I quickly glanced at the invoice of equipment they sent me and didn't see the discrepancy in the quantities. Also, I came to find out that their claim that none of the equipment that I already had with square would be compatible with lightspeed is completely false. They basically sent me the same star printers that I had with square and cash drawers that I could have used with my current printers as well. While the pricing online says the monthly fees, their salesman knew that I needed more registers than they sent me. Some time later, I requested that they send me the rest of the registers that I needed as I had originally requested and chalked the wrong number up to a mistake. They sent me the hardware and threw a bunch of additional software charges in the mix without even mentioning them. All charges were made before I even saw an invoice. I confronted them about it and the initial response was "all sales are final". At that point, I told them that they had two weeks to get back to me on how would reconcile the mistakes made by their company to retain me as a customer and mend our relationship. I didn't hear from them at all during that time. When they finally got back to me, I told them that I did not want to continue my relationship with them anymore, and and that I understood that I'd incur some costs in severing the partnership, but I thought it should be fair. I'd eat all shipping costs and hardware from the first order, but I wanted a refund on the unauthorized charges and for software to be prorated to time elapsed only. I understood I would be out several thousand dollars. I was told "there is nothing we can do" by multiple managers. Finally, just today I received an invoice concerning my refund for the second order of hardware and the refund did not include any of the software as discussed with their managers, and they want to charge me a 20% restocking fee for hardware that never even made it to my place of business. The refund that they are supposedly giving me for absolutely no services rendered. This company is totally crooked. Do not make the same mistakes that I have. I will likely be perusing legal action against this company if they do not respond appropriately.

Pros

I thought this product was going to be a great way to more easily keep my books up to date and get pricing and inventory dialed in as compared to square. It has a lot of functionality compared to a product like shop keep or square.

Cons

Service - Limited concern for the customer's problems. No effort to actually work through and understand a client's business. Sales Team - Arrogant and dishonest Billing - Sly and deceitful. Invoices serve as contracts as they contain fine print at the bottom that refers a client to the company's actual contract and product terms that the client must hunt down for themselves. Management - No concern for clientele.

Man hat oft den Eindruck, dass es Stückwerk ist vom ehemals deutschen Kassenanbieter, der wohl übernommen wurde. Es scheinen hier zwei Welten aufeinander getroffen zu sein.Von deutschen Buchhaltungsanforderungen, Mehrwertsteuersätzen, Datev usw. scheint niemand richtig Ahnung zu haben, das ist fatal!!!

Pros

\- Man kann Änderungen recht einfach im Menü vornehmen- Support ist gut erreichbar und auch hilfreich

Cons

\-beim Start sind wir nicht richtig betreut worden, das System war nicht richtig eingerichtet bzw. vorbereitet, wir mussten ca. eine Woche mit einer nicht funktionierenden Kasse kämpfen und viele viele Telefonate führen- Die fehlende Kassenbuchfunktion ist ein sehr großes Manko, Datev Anbindung die reine Katastrophe. Wegen der völlig unverständlichen Anforderungen vom Anbieter Omniboost hat unser Steuerberater die Zusammenarbeit aufgekündigt, was eine reine Katastrophe war. Zufällig erfahren wir, dass es eine neue Datev-Anbindung geben soll und versuchen, seit zwei Monaten!!!! einen Account Manager diesbezüglich z erreichen. Trotz fast wöchentlicher Anfragen meldet sich niemand. - Die Berichte sind überdimensioniert und unübersichtlich (es fehlen Angaben ob die Zahlen brutto oder netto angegeben sind)-im Menü fehlt eine Wochen/Monatsübersicht der Umsätze, man kann immer nur den aktuellen Geschäftstag sehen?

### "!!SMALL BUSINESS WARNING!! NOT FAIR"

!!WARNING!!! THIS COMPANY IS NOT FAIR! They bundled in the loyalty program in our automatic renewal. We were looking into the addition to see if it fits our business. Another $800 was tacked on to our renewal for the Loyalty program that I did not authorize. They are refusing to refund the Loyalty program fee say that we are in a contract and they have a phone recording committing to the contract (they won't actual share the recording though). We have no need for this extra program at the moment, have not used it and do not plan to use it at this time as our business volume has a ceiling and the margins do not support it at this time. We understand the value in the loyalty program by cannot presently justify it. I have not worked for or worked with a company that does not work fairly with their customers. I do not recommend LightSpeed and am stuck with them for another 11 months and plan to find a better POS partner.

Pros

The software is comprehensive. Many add-ons are available at high costs.

Cons

It can get complicated and takes some effort to train new staff. Support is good for the software although I have found that are led down the wrong path and wast time. Some of the representatives are not knowledgeable enough.

It was Canadian. It seemed like the best option at the time but of course the will sell you on anything upfront. !!MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE A COMPANY THAT IS FAIR TO YOUR BUSINESS!! LIGHTSPEED IS A BAD POS BUSINESS PARTNER

Very easy to use, easy to get help specific to your problem

Pros

How easy it is to get support, how knowledgeable the support staff is with the software & shortcuts to use it. Also, it tracks inventory across multiple platforms so you don't sell inventory you don't have.

Cons

It's fairly expensive in comparison to what we were using in the past (quick books POS - doesn't track inventory across multiple platforms but cheaper)

### "Indifferent Support "

Although I had used Lightspeed pre pandemic it became a nightmare to re-set up post pandemic. First, they didn't even have available the App for the new version in my country's App Store. Then it took days (via email) to figure things out and get it up and running. They have the absolute WORST support when it comes to billing. One time my CC was declined and it took me a WEEK to get the card re-charged with a lot of run-around between chats and unfilled promises by Lightspeed. The link to pay your bill that they eventually send you DOES NOT WORK (nor have they done anything about it after I notified them many months ago. At chat support they send you another link to another system that declines the charge saying "not supporting the currency in your country" Whaat? The U.S. dollar, probably the most used currency in the world! Off chat support again with no promise of how long I'll take to re-try charging my card. There's an indifference there to the customers. I sense that they have become too big for their britches? Oh, and they just turned off my Backoffice access without any warning! oh wait, I've only been a customer for 8 years... hm

It runs fairly stable and has a lot of features

Cons

Difficult set-up and customer service and particularly a billing department that don't care about the customer.

Pros

Please note that I have subscribed to Kounta which at the time had good support in Australia. Since it has been taken over by Lightspeed support has gone down the drain. There is no knowledge and response time is unacceptable. Forget about using phone as the message clearly states if you don’t get connected to operator within 15minutes call will be disconnected.

Cons

Really bad support. It absolutely frustrating to have to chase my payments which are short. Waiting for answers for like 20minutes. Requesting contact with my account manager repeatedly for last four weeks. As a business owner I don’t have time to chase it. Resolutions should be fast and easy. I dread every tine that I have to contact their support.

Pros

Easy to use but when compared to competitors like square, extremely over priced.

Cons

I would be very careful signing up, we have been trying to cancel for weeks now but have been given the run around. The sales team is supposed to reach out but we have been waiting. Now our next months payment has just come out. They are extremely difficult to deal with. Other companies have call centers based in the states but it does not seem as though lightspeed does.

### "The POS We've Been Waiting For"

Pros

I manage a restaurant called Eclipse Chocolate, and I was uncertain that Lightspeed would be able to meet all of our needs. We're a full service dining concept with brunch and dinner daily, a cafe, a bakery, an event space, a confectioner, and a wholesaler; we needed a POS that would be intuitive and adaptable to a very dynamic menu, and usable by professional servers, as well as kitchen and production staff. We got it! The customer service is outstanding, and offered hands-on support with our setup. We'd had some initial miscommunications and misunderstandings, and we found we needed some additional functionality out of the software. However, the team has always been very helpful and fast to respond; I'm also very pleasantly surprised how much development is being done with the app. This is definitely a well-supported POS that is constantly being improved. I'm extremely impressed by how well it works for our unique "combo based" menu. Lightspeed has helped close a lot of simple human error loopholes! We also decided to invest in the "Liteserver," which was an expensive piece of hardware, but a welcome relief during internet outages. Losing WiFi during a busy brunch was disastrous with previous cloud-based POS'es, but now we don't even miss a beat (or a ticket).

Cons

There are some minor missing features I would still like to see, like better development of Labor Reports to help calculate overtime, but I have confidence that they will be added in time. I see an update every couple weeks, so I do believe the dev team is working through a list.

Rien. On l'avait pris pour les modules de gestion et on ne s'en sert pas car trop complexe et déjà trop à faire pour gérer les problèmes opérationnels

Cons

Les bugs à répétition. Pas intuitif. Trop complexe et pas de hotline. Ils rappellent parfois 4 h00 après en plein service et demande de faire des tests. N'importe quoi ce logiciel et leur gestion. Pas adapté

### "Not worthed as the expensive price "

I know amount that i calculate manual in every type of payment are balance or not because kounta showing it amount minus or over, so we can double check before we accept to close cashier or shift.

Pros

Display of the pos is look modern and kounta can create recipen and inventory and back office. Pso system complet with back office.

Cons

Actually they have good features in back office for reporting. But not as good as inventory system by itself. First, POS system not completly all transaction is automaticly show in the report when want to do closing cashier (shift), like we need to do manual calculated some other transaction except cash like card and gofood payment as i used to. Because you have to submit all your type of payment on closing time then you will get report that will show your manual calculted are balance or not, split bill need to do by amount not by item, mostly apps that i was using were by item. Second, we need to buy with additional charge to get more features that we can see more details report (like insight and purchase) and that is expensive. If you dont buy, you will not get clear report as you need for analyzing restaurant performance. Third, menu item that you sell and item only you use for recipe are the same product list. Fourth, service charge and tax calculations are confusing to get the right amount. Every report that you want to dowbload as csv as not that correct way as csv.

Pros

I like how easy it is to use and how it comes with so many features that are useful in our business. It is very organized and you are able to look up records and sales from years passed and compare which allows you to grow your business.

Cons

I don't think there is anything I dont like

### "My experience with Lightspeed"

Not the greatest. The last rep that took care of my problem was the best one I had in the last 5 years. His name is \[sensitive content hidden\] and he should be rewarded for his excellent customer service!

Pros

It is easy to use and the back office reports are very useful.

Cons

When it glitches the time on hold on the phone is ridiculous and Lightspeed needs to put techs on the road to help out the restaurants using their product

### "Fantastic system; exactly what we were looking for"

When we decided to explore for a new POS system for our business, we were looking for a system that would be very user friendly, easy to install, good solid remote help desk and overall, a system that would be speed up our service. Due to the fast responses from lightspeed we were completely informed with the solution offered and had a quote in our inbox within no time. Very accurate, detailed and excellent service. Now 5 weeks later, the system is up and running in our operation in Jamaica. The installation was quick and easy (and we are certainly no experts at it) The staff training literally took 10 minutes and everybody enjoys working with the program. Most importantly as managers and owners we have all the accurate information available to control sales, waste and possible theft. All information is just a few Clicks away. Incase you don’t know; the help desk is simply phenomenal and well trained. As you can tell, I can recommend lightspeed to any company that looks for a system that clearly was designed for the user and by pros.

Pros

The ease of using it. Very user friendly, even a person that has barely ever been in contact with a tablet or PC has no problem using it.

Cons

Have not found anything yet that we would need. Other than maybe the ability to pay in a different currency (calculate change in another currency for example)

### "Lightspeed POS for Restaurant"

Overall, our experience has been great, but no software is perfect. Their rates are comparable, but the customer support is phenomenal.

Pros

Lightspeed is sleek, very professional look and feel. Although it does take a number of buttons to run through a transaction, it's definitely an upgrade to what he had prior. The loyalty program integration is amazing, as customers earn points on the spot without any manual entry.

Cons

Although not directly related to POS, their payment processing dose not allow partial refunds which causes us headaches at times.

### "Easy to use, excellent reporting features."

Pros

We like the ease with which new staff can learn to use this software. We also like the clarity with which the back end is organized, and the support available to help us learn the various features. It is simpler and easier to follow than Lightspeed Retail's back end. Reporting features are extremely helpful. It is all very customizable.

Cons

I don't like that the the software is not linked directly to Lightspeed Retail, and that when we lose internet connection we lose access to our POS.

Reason for choosing Lightspeed Restaurant

We chose Lightspeed Restaurant partly because of the availability of Lightspeed Retail, e-commerce, and Quick Books extensions for all of those. We also wanted something that was easy to use and easy to teach. We liked the sleek platform and all the reporting tools. The gift card function is a plus, as well as the fact that you can purchase a barcode scanner that can switch back and forth between Restaurant and Retail. All these features together simply didn't exist in the alternatives we were considering.

### "Makes Perfect Sense!"

We have been using Lightspeed for 2+ years now and absolutely love it! We are able to utilize many of their components to assist us not only in the basics (inventory, sales) but analytics and E-Comm. LS staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and quick to respond to our needs.

Pros

We are able to customize according to our needs. We utilize many of the components and are constantly learning.

Cons

Sometimes we have recommendations and submit them.

Reason for choosing Lightspeed Restaurant

We chose LS for their willingness to assist us in determining if they were a good fit, their service and their price point.
