And the questions were interesting. I like the technical questions, it does seem like a fairer way to assess people. But I do think having some scenario based questions could also help understand the participant better. eg. "in this context from a team or managerial challenge, what choice would you make -- A. B. or C?" As this can help you gauge what the participant values or how they view different problems. (Just a thought, use it, don't use it). Pros Simple multiple choice questions based on foundational technical knowledge. The assessment didn't steal any ideas from me.. ie. it wasn't a set design task that can be used to exploit participants for free work under the guise of "skills assessment". I appreciate this about HiPeople. The fact that they didn't ask for free ideas via a fake design brief (which companies generally use for their own benefit by using you and wasting your time, misleading you in thinking you're working toward a potential hire), makes me respect and trust them even though we've never met. One of the few assessments which didn't leave me feeling used or exploited by the end of it. Thanks. Cons I think there is some room for improvement, quick fixes that can help reduce bias: 1. Such as including icons with text- as not all people know the names of specific functionality, but as visual learners they can easily recognise it's purpose by it's icon. 2. Perhaps, language and communication preferences in the beginning could be added. That might help level the playing field to ensure everyone is answering in the language they prefer best, using the method they are most comfortable with.. ie. verbal vs written responses. The platform feels modern and intuitive, and I really liked how automated the whole process is. The reports are clear, beautifully formatted, and actually helpful in making hiring decisions. Also, the customer support team is quick and friendly. Cons Some of the reference emails went to spam, so we had to follow up manually in a few cases. Not a big deal, but something to keep in mind. They have a very nice interface, easy to understand, the explanation of how everything works internally is quite good, which gives them a plus, and the sections are set up appropriately to not make the process so tedious, which is beneficial for the candidates since they do not lose focus on the test being taken, and it makes this process enjoyable. Pros I found the interface pleasant, the information is very clear and they explain it in a very specific way. Cons In the final section, because the text is long, the answer options given above would be good if you could adjust that part so that they remain static while one scrolls the text down to have clearer answer options. It's usually rather overwhelming if one applies for so many positions. I do however understand the need for this. Having said this, I was pleasantly surprised with HiPeople's assessment as it indicated a 35 minute assessment which I did in far less time. Their questions were far more relatable to the position I applied for and it was quick and painless, in fact, no stress at all and by far the best one I've done in a long time. Pros HiPeople seems to be far more accurate in their assessments and though they keep in contact they don't 'spam' one's inbox with irrelevant articles and/or subscriptions, etc. Cons Well...
