Entering checks, billing and tracking expenses. Pros Quickbooks desktop is very user friendly and access to a variety of reports both standard reports and custom. Cons As much as I like the option for quick changes that also gives someone not so knowledgeable about financials to make changes easily. Review Source AN Amit N. The invoicing functionality and reconciliation tools are the most helpful features. Off late the updates have slowed down and there is constant push to move to cloud version. Pros The thing we like most about this version is it still allows to manage multiple clients without paying individual subscription and the ability to generate detailed reports helps the small business clients overview their financials with ease. Cons The software feels a bit dated if we compare to the online tools. Secondly importing transactions from bank statements is very complicated and crashes the application on many occasions. Lastly limited to the office computer but that is a conscious decision to keep the cost down. Each year Intuit continues to destroy what was once a decent product. Paying bills used to be a snap but they they added third party Melio which is a nightmare. Shipping was easy and precise until they changed their shipping manager to what looks like also a third party that has no real world functionality. My business doesn't fit into the tiny box they have forced me into but they just don't care. Pros Invoicing works as it should. May 12, 2025 5.0 Experience with the product has been 4 out of 5. Every so often their maintenance release messes up the windows firewall port(s) and can take some finessing to get working properly. This is on a network with server and 2-users. Pros Works as it should for small business accounting, easy to use. Cons The worst price gouging of any software product I've ever used. In 2022 a 2-user license for the desktop Pro version was $549, in 2023 they raised it to $749, in 2024 it went up $849. And here we are in 2025, only (4) years later and now the price is up to $1,199, that's DOUBLE the price!! Terrible that they strong-arm you into being a subscription based service and raise the prices in a VERY UNREASONABLE manner - to me, this warrants a class action suit. I have used everything from PeopleSoft, to Netsuite and SAP and I have to say that QuickBooks is the easiest to use and the one that I have enjoyed the most to use. Started using the software when we started and have continued to use it as we continue to grow as a multi million dollar business Cons When the reports are run and downloaded they can be hard to manipulate and use excel short cuts with how the data is presented. Therefore, you will have to manipulate the data to get it to work the way you want it to work. Pros Easy to search, get reports, make changes to Bill/check entries. What I most loved was the Loan Manager, which has been removed from latest updates. Cons Intuit is trying to force us to use QB Online. I hate Online. I have used it before and it has not improved much at all. The price of Desktop is astronomical now. I do not use Inventory or PO's as they are cumbersome in QB. I do not use Payroll either. But I am paying for all of these features. They should be separate optional fees. And they have removed Loan Manager, which I use to manage our 20+ loans. And once you've used it for years, it's difficult to move to another bookkeeping software program. Pros Have been using QuickBooks Desktop for years to complete all bookkeeping tasks for my small business. The software is intuitive and good for general accounting purposes. I especially like the way QuickBooks pairs with TurboTax at tax time. The end of year reports are also very helpful. The style, format, colors, wording, font etc. etc. Everything!! was sooo easy to navigate and to go with the flow. Technical support was amazing as well. Where as Quickbooks online it is very hard to raech a person for support. Which naturally, is quite frustrating! Pros Easy to follow the prompts. the available options are easy to view and are color coordinated as well for even faster access to what you need to work on. Cons Not a thing! I can honestly say that I am disappointed that I had made the decision to switch to online Quickbooks. I find that online quickbooks is extrmely difficult to navigate through because it simply does not 'flow like the desk top quickbooks version. It is also very simple to use and understand. It makes invoicing and making payments very easy. There is lots of report tools and it makes finacial reporting very quick. Pros Reconcilliations of accounts, ability to attach documents and files, internal notes fields, custom fields, links with bank accounts, allows customers to pay with payment link, ability to see linked transactions with a record. Pros Invoicing is very easy, wide variety of reports to choose from for payroll and other financial information. Cons I really liked the ease of payroll but over the years the price had increased so much we just couldn't afford it anymore. It wasn't worth the money when we have less than 10 employees. It is really user-friendly and easy to figure out. Whenever I havea question, I can always search for the answer in the community and get tons of resposnes from other users. The few times that I have needed Customer Support, they have been extremely friendly and helpful. Pros I love the ability to create custom reports so that I can quickly access the information that I need. I also appreciate the layout of Quickbooks Desktop - the icons make it easy to jump from one task to another. We recently added the "Payment Links" feature and absolutely love how easy it is for my clients to pay securely through the portal! Cons The only negative thing that I would say is that I wish I could create a custom template that could be used for everything - invoives, credit memos, statements, etc. I would like to see an option to use a single template for all prints and Quickbooks would just format it for me.
