### "QB has made running a business so easy"

April 7, 2023

5.0

I used Quickbooks back in 1992 and liked it. I felt that it had far more features than I ever used. For about 20 years I did not need it, since I worked for others. But when I went back into business, I knew I wanted to have Quickbooks again. I personally believe it is much easier to use than ever before. The learning curve was very short.

Pros

I am a Draftsman. I don't need many materials and supplies. But when I get done with my drawings, I want to get paid. So having an invoice that is very professional looking is important to me. The fact that I can, within the program, prepare and send the invoice to the customer in a matter of minutes, is quite an advantage.

Cons

I didn't particularly enjoy culling through the chart of accounts and removing the ones that don't apply to me or my business. It took a little while. The QB representative showed me how to eliminate the ones that I will never use. I honestly don't know any other way it could be done. Every business is different.

Reason for choosing QuickBooks Desktop

I had a good experience with it before.

### "Quickbooks Point of Sale a breeze for users"

August 2, 2023

5.0

Overall, we have been very happy with our Quickbooks Point of Sale experience and receive very few user complaints about the system.

Pros

The POS interface is very user-friendly, something that is important when you have users who are not computer savvy. The ability to run either a single register or multiple in a networked environment was essential for our needs. The pre-built reports are very good and offer the ability to filter/search when needed.

Cons

We run the on-prem version as their cloud-based version does not offer all the features we need. Because of this, user management within the system is difficult if you are managing multiple locations. POS clients will sometimes have trouble seeing the POS server, resulting in us having to write batch files that allow the end-users to restart the POS server services when needed.

Reason for choosing QuickBooks Desktop

Many POS systems are catered to specific industries that did not match our needs. Quickbooks Point of Sale met all the needs we had and more.

### "QuickBooks is the solution for a small to mid range company"

May 30, 2023

5.0

I have used pretty much all versions of QB over the years. I have watched the program evolve. It continues to get better and therefore, I am able to become better and bring better intel to the people that need it, to make better business decisions as a result of better information.

Pros

No only is QB the easiest product out there - BY FAR. It offers so many solutions that will fit your industry, or your needs. It is super flexible and does everything needed. And one of the best features in my opinion is that it is the go to software that other software programs talk to and integrate with.

Cons

I have to be honest. I have yet to find something that I cannot get from this program. When I do I will let you know. But for all of my needs (5 different companies). It satisfies them all and all of their CPA's.

### "A solid solution for small business accounting, if you can get past some of the issues"

May 12, 2022

4.0

We are a small business that has had 3-4 users with QuickBooks Pro since 1997, adding Payroll in the early 2000s. Several years back, they changed licensing and started preventing us from getting the 4 users that we needed. In order to get past this, I had to jump through hoops via an annual phone marathon, speaking to multiple (usually 4-5 tech reps) to get the licenses updated and sorted out. This year, they forced us to move to the next level up, which they promised would eliminate this -- but now they charge us $2.20 monthly per employee for Payroll, which we had already paid for in the previous package. It just seems that they want to nickle and die you to death, and their support people are not always that helpful when problems arise. So why do I stay? Simply put, the software works, and it works quite well. Our 4-node network has had no problems keeping up with the size of the data, and our system still contains all of the data since 1997 -- and it performs perfectly. (Some reports can be slow from time to time, but only if you are running "All-time sales" reports or similar that have to look at lots of data. Otherwise, the system simply screams and does exactly what it needs to do. Our automation interfaces (using QODBC and simple VBScript scripts) reduce the workload for invoicing considerably, eliminating the need to hire another full-time position -- so it is still a worthwhile aggravation.

Pros

We have been using QuickBooks since 1997, and the product has certainly changed over the years, but it has remained very intuitive to learn and use over all of this time. More importantly, we have been able to automate large portions of our business using scripting and QODBC (which is a separate add-on that REALLY should be included) to streamline order processing and fulfillment.

Cons

The biggest downsides are stupid things within the user interface. Intuit likes to add advertising for upgrades right into the main menu bar. This breaks automation scripts relying on mouse clicks. Even if you remove the button again manually, it re-appears with the next system update, breaking your automation again. The other thing they do is present pop-ups on our database server via modal dialog boxes, further breaking the automation until someone actually logs onto the server and clicks OK to close the dialog box.

### "QB Desktop Pro - great for small businesses and non-accounting professionals"

April 28, 2022

5.0

Overall, we are big fans. It was easy to install and set up for our way of using it. It has a great deal of subject matter knowledge built in that prevented us from making certain mistakes. It interfaces with our banks and financial institutions - only when we choose, which eliminates time, cost and risk related to manual data entry. Its reporting mechanisms are outstanding. QB Desktop Pro makes tax filings and financial reporting a breeze compared with other products.

Pros

Setup was very easy. Integration with our bank for automated input of bank account statements into QB eliminated tons of work and errors. The report center is powerful with an almost endless number of reports that can be generated in many different formats, and excellent report management features that allow recurring report selection criteria to be saved and reused.

Cons

Manual data entry can be tedious as some fields do not auto-tab to the next field, and the ENTER key must be pressed twice in order to confirm the entry. Chart of Accounts maintenance is a bit cumbersome but it does prevent you from deleting an account that is active, which is very good.

Reason for choosing QuickBooks Desktop

User interface was most intuitive in QB. Well-recognized company and product that has been around for decades, excellent customer support.

### "QuickBooks Desktop is Fast, Customizable and Easy. Best of the Best."

September 16, 2021

5.0

The questions most people have is QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online. As a bookkeeper with multiple clients, it's a no brainer for me, QuickBooks Desktop!!! I refuse to work with QuickBooks Online. QuickBooks Desktop is lightning fast. There are numerous shortcuts with the keyboard that help process the daily routines. With being online, those keyboard shortcuts go away and now you have no move your hand from the keyboard to the mouse. It may not seem like much, but it's huge. The reporting features in QuickBooks Desktop are superior too. Yeah, your customer may not be able to have 24/7 access to their books, but if you're doing your job properly and getting them timely reports, most shouldn't need that.

Pros

Accounts payable is amazing. From tracking bills to writing checks to entering vendors. So easy. It also helps to make sure your 1099's are correct and in place for year end. Printing checks is a piece of cake and consistently easy! Accounts receivable is awesome. Whether you are tracking tenants or customers, they can be easily set up. Weekly, Monthly and Year End reporting can be done in a click of a 3 buttons, seriously. 3 Buttons pulls up your common report batches. Then you can print, save and email them.

Cons

When sending reports by pdf, I'd like to preview them first and adjust how they appear. Sometimes they can appear all wonky and not clean. The work around is to print to pdf. Then you can do it, just one extra step though.

### "QuickBooks Pro Point of Sale Version 12"

February 13, 2017

1.0

I've used QuickBooks Pro in my retail liquor store for about fourteen months. I don't like it, for four main reasons: First, if I'm making a sale and I notice the price of the product or the on-hand quantity is wrong the software won't allow me to make corrections from the "Make a Sale" screen. It will allow me to change the price, but the change will show up on the receipt as a "discount," and the price will remain wrong in the database. To change the price or the on-hand quantity in the database requires exiting from the "Make a Sale" function and then entering the "Item List" function. This is impractical to do when a customer is waiting to pay and get on his way. It is also inconvenient and cumbersome to switch back and forth when we are checking in replacement inventory items during business hours and we have to get out of the “Item List” and go to the “Make a Sale” function. When we had Microsoft Point of Sale we could do both functions from the same screen. Second, QuickBooks Pro will not produce a simple report showing what products were sold and how many were sold during a previous period of time, plus how many remain in inventory. I need to know this information so I can decide what items to replace in inventory. QuickBooks Pro will report all the sales during any chosen period, but obviously the same products are often sold multiple times during a day, so when I'm ordering I have to look at every transaction and consider whether to re-buy the same items multiple times, and then look at another report showing how many were sold during the past months. If you were in a business like mine you’d appreciate the difference between looking at several hundred individual transactions and looking at a single list that summarizes what was sold, how many remain in stock, and how many were sold in the past three months. I think a good POS system should be able to produce a list of what was sold in one column alongside another column showing how many remain in inventory, and a third column showing how many were sold during the previous three months or whatever time period the user would choose as a guide to decide how many of each to re-buy for stock. QuickBooks Pro will not do this. Also, QuickBooks will not let you copy the name of an item in a report, which would make reordering easier. Instead, I have to type the name of what I want when I go to the suppliers’ ordering systems. Third, it won’t handle some barcodes. There are some that’ll work in the “Item List,” but not in the “Make a Sale” function and some vice versa. Some won’t work in either function. We never had this problem with Microsoft Point of Sale. Fourth, and worst, QuickBooks drops transactions and changes the quantities of items in inventory. Every night when I do my tallies I have more money in the till than I should have for a number of sales that day as reported by QuickBooks. I’ve seen no rhyme or reason for this happening—the software just decides on its own to delete a transaction or two every day. It also decides on its own to make changes to the quantities of items in inventory, so I don’t really know how many of an item we have in stock without walking to the shelf and counting them myself. I seldom have time to do this, so I frequently order things we already have plenty of, or we run out of things and don’t notice it until a customer complains or we just see a hole in the shelf where something should go. I’ve tried to imagine a business that would be satisfied with this software. Please don’t recommend it to clients with high product turnover and many transactions to keep up with.

Pros

Poor as it is, it does keep working. It hasn't crashed yet.

### "Quickbooks Premier - User Friendly, Versatile, Affordable"

January 8, 2023

5.0

Overall, I have a great opinion of Quickbooks Premier. I originally began using it 20+ years ago with zero bookkeeping experience for our small business—It’s very user friendly. Now that I have Accounting training and have full bookkeeping responsibilities for a non-profit, I appreciate its time-saving features and robust report capabilities.

Pros

I love that Quickbooks is user friendly with an easy-to-understand interface. I like that the features and reports can be easily customized. My favorite features are the reconciliation process , versatility of reports, and the ability to Memorize transactions—these features save so much time.

Cons

What I like least is the difficulty to speak to a live customer service member. I ended our Intuit payroll subscription due to this. Also, although the software is very affordable at the base level, the add—ons (such as payroll, bill pay) are over-priced. I wish they would decrease their pricing for those features.

### "Quickbooks - Stable and easy to use"

January 15, 2023

Our migration to QuickBooks was very smooth, mainly down to the simple layout within the software. Anyone can be easily trained to use it quickly.

Pros

The favorite part for us and our accounts tram, is the ease of the GUI and layout. It's incredibly simple to navigate the different areas of the software and quick to get to where you need to.

Cons

The website does offer support when you need it, but its not the most intuitive. When we have had problems or questions, the telephone support is fantastic.

### "Quickbooks Desktop Pro is good for small business or personal accounting"

February 17, 2023

4.0

QB is good and fast and simple software other than the yearly updated version which is harassing customers to upgrade company files every year.

Pros

Quickbooks Pro is quick to access and create modify, copy entries and reports quickly. It allows to delete entries and warns if we post transactions older than 90 days.

Cons

There are high chances of getting QB company files corrupted in the network environment especially shared environment. File size is huge to handle in Online QB as we need high bandwidth internet connection. QB is basically good for small enterprises, not good for medium to large enterprises. QB releases new version every year which is a headache to upgrade company file and buy newe version every year. Instead they supposed to release updates on a base version.

Reason for choosing QuickBooks Desktop

QB is good for small companies and individual accounting companies with minimum amount of transactions.

### "Quickbooks Desktop Pro- A Powerful Accounting Software"

June 20, 2021

4.0

It provides the ability to easily customize customers' data, invoices, and reports. It integrates well with third-party applications. Exporting transactions from the bank and importing them into the software makes monthly reconciliation easy. Auditing the books is easy as there is a chronological tracking of transactions affecting each item. Whereas Quickbooks Desktop Pro is a powerful, affordable software with great features and is less costly to run, we had to switch to Quickbooks online which is cloud-based, has more automation and integrations with third-party applications. Quickbooks Online is also more user-friendly. In my experience, choosing between Quickbooks Desktop Pro and Quickbooks Online is more about the organization's preferences and needs, and less about which one is better than the other.

Pros

It is powerful accounting software that is ideal for well-established organizations that have been in business for a while. It is great for bookkeeping and very helpful when it comes to filing taxes at the end of the financial year. It does not require frequent upgrades unless there are changes that affect a specific feature. It is great for generating various reports, setting up recurring invoices, and processing payroll.

Cons

It has a steep learning curve in the initial stages and requires some accounting knowledge. It is locally installed, therefore, inaccessible while on the move, and if you choose to have it hosted virtually, that comes at an additional cost. Customer support isn't as great as we expected and issues take very long to resolve.
