Owner Information Technology and Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "QuickBooks Desktop - Don't Want To Lose You" April 9, 2026 5.0 Overall my experience is great. The memorized transactions for invoicing save us a lot of time. Payroll is quick and easy. I do my own forms (941, etc) but you can pay to have that done if you want. It syncs with our credit card so I do not have to enter transactions. Really good experience. Pros I like the simplicity and consistency. I have been using QuickBooks since 1999 when I worked at an accounting firm. When we opened our own company in 2002, we went with QuickBooks to manage the books and run payroll. Cons When a problem happens, it is very hard to get real support. I can solve most of the problems (thankfully) because working at an accounting firm and now in IT I have the experience. But if I have to call support, I have to be prepared to receive very little "real" help. I just hope to get lucky and fix it while they are helping. President Machinery Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Stay away from QBDT Enterprise" January 21, 2026 1.0 I have been a QBDT Enterprise MW edition user for almost 18 years. Each year Intuit continues to destroy what was once a decent product. Paying bills used to be a snap but they they added third party Melio which is a nightmare. Shipping was easy and precise until they changed their shipping manager to what looks like also a third party that has no real world functionality. My business doesn't fit into the tiny box they have forced me into but they just don't care. Pros Invoicing works as it should. The inventory management and assembly tools help keep inventory up to date Cons Everything else from paying bills to shipping and loan management is terrible. features continue to be taken away while the price has gone up exponentially for what continues to be an inferior product each year Review Source MK Michelle K. During the course of my career, my experience has been phenomenal. Pros I’ve been using QuickBooks Desktop for nearly 20 years and have had an excellent experience. It’s intuitive and very easy to use. It gives me complete control over my financial records. The reporting features are especially good — I can easily generate detailed P&L statements, track my expenses, and manage invoices all in one place. The software handles everything from day-to-day bookkeeping to year-end preparation smoothly. It is also the preferred software that my CPA uses. Excellent value for the cost and customer support has been excellent, whether by e-mail or phone. Whenever someone asks me for a recommendation, this is the software! Cons The only con to QuickBooks Desktop (as with most software) is the continual new releases and updates. Owner Health, Wellness and Fitness Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Feel Confident at Ease with QuickBooks Desktop" October 21, 2025 5.0 QuickBooks Desktop was great for when you want day to day reporting, and then financial reporting for the month, quarter and year. It does require some time to investing in using it to become more conformable, but once you have you are on your way. It is also great for staying on top of your monthly invoicing. Pros QuickBooks is a great program for those who are serious about their bookkeeping. Whether you are doing this for yourself or have hired someone to use it for you, it is a great value and once you get a hang of it, the ease of use will impress you. Cons As wonderful as it is that it is very comprehensive, it can have a learning curve to get up to speed on using it. Ideal for mid to larger businesses. And once you've used it for years, it's difficult to move to another bookkeeping software program. Pros Have been using QuickBooks Desktop for years to complete all bookkeeping tasks for my small business. The software is intuitive and good for general accounting purposes. I especially like the way QuickBooks pairs with TurboTax at tax time. The end of year reports are also very helpful. Cons My only complaint is the business decision Intuit made to move away from the Desktop product to the QuickBooks Online only product which requires you to purchase an annual license. " November 20, 2025 4.0 Overall it's been fantastic. Used for over 15 years with different versions and generally works as advertised! Pros The ease of use for bookeepers and beginners, and powerful accounting features for everyone up to and including CPAs. Cons It's a well-established powerhouse, but it's starting to show its age in the day of OAuth and SaaS. We find it increasingly difficult to integrate with and will move to QBO in the future. It was really easy to just start using it. Cons That its not accessible in any other device. April 8, 2026 3.0 Overall it is the best functional option for the group of businesses we run; however, we just keep looking for an alternative due to them pricing us out of the ability to use it. Pros When it comes to the construction industry, Quickbooks has all the functionality you need to track and report seperate projects. Compared to the Online version, Desktop has far superior report options with ways to generate the exact data you need. Cons ITS CRAZY EXPENSIVE! Each year the "subscription" price goes up like $400 and at over $1700 per year for 2026, it feels like they don't care at all for the small businesses who have used them for twenty years. I would highly recommend it. I believe as this product continues to develop even the ease of use will become even easier. We have been using this product for over 10 years and see no reason for us to stop using anytime soon Pros The value of what you receive is excellent. It is so much better in my eyes to be able to pay a onetime fee and not be worried about a subscription fee. Customer support is always easy to reach and immensely helpful. Reporting is very extensive and allows for all that we have need of. Cons There is a little more involved in using the product, so ease of use is not as wonderful as it could be. I did update my system to QuickBooks Online and Houzz for these features as well as others that Desktop didn't have, but overall my experience was a good one. Pros I liked QuickBooks Desktop for its ease of use and content available for our company. The content of invoicing, estimates and reports are great. Cons I liked least about QuickBooks Desktop was that it didn't have the specifics I needed for General Contractors or the new and improved updates that the online version provides. Pros Reconcilliations of accounts, ability to attach documents and files, internal notes fields, custom fields, links with bank accounts, allows customers to pay with payment link, ability to see linked transactions with a record. Pros QuickBooks is user friendly for someone who has never used this type of service. I found it very easy to learn the basics within no time. Cons The reporting option I would say is my leaset. It is also very simple to use and understand. It makes invoicing and making payments very easy. There is lots of report tools and it makes finacial reporting very quick.
