President Computer Networking Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Highly Recommend Quickbooks Desktop" April 15, 2025 5.0 Overall, I would say that I am extremely pleased with Quickboos Desktop. It is really user-friendly and easy to figure out. Whenever I havea question, I can always search for the answer in the community and get tons of resposnes from other users. The few times that I have needed Customer Support, they have been extremely friendly and helpful. Pros I love the ability to create custom reports so that I can quickly access the information that I need. I also appreciate the layout of Quickbooks Desktop - the icons make it easy to jump from one task to another. We recently added the "Payment Links" feature and absolutely love how easy it is for my clients to pay securely through the portal! Cons The only negative thing that I would say is that I wish I could create a custom template that could be used for everything - invoives, credit memos, statements, etc. I would like to see an option to use a single template for all prints and Quickbooks would just format it for me. Right now, it's a little "clunky" having to manually adjust margins, move logos around, line everything up just right. Review Source LB Lia B. For working with the sources and uses of funds in nonprofit accounting, you can't beat its value. Pros Not dependent on internet to be able to work. If there is an internet outage it puts you out of commission. It has stopped all duplicate charging to customers and cut down on transposed addresses (provided they are input right on the estimate). We have 2 other programs integrated with QuickBooks Desktop (for credit cards and for shipping), so this keeps manual posting to a minimum, which also cuts errors down. Pros Customer sends product to us to be worked on, which we input to QuickBooks as an estimate. Once finished, we move this over to an invoice. We are able to add notes at any time to see status. It is easy to look up a customer's order by name, partial address or phone #. Cons Once we finish with a customer's product, we move the estimate info to invoice. The invoice has all info needed, including tracking, so we don't need the estimate anymore. I have to manually delete the finished estimates every day. I like the notes feature as well. Cons It seriously lacks current updates and shortcuts -- for instance, there is no way to setup AutoPay for our customers through Intuit QB. There's also a pretty hefty fee for those paying through Intuit whether card or ACH. And a lot of processes are not intuitive or user-friendly. It takes some time to learn, but once you do, it’s an excellent system for managing every aspect of your business finances. Pros The thing I like most about QuickBooks Desktop is the control it gives me over my accounting data. I can customize reports, track classes and jobs, and reconcile accounts accurately—features that cloud-based versions don’t handle as deeply. Cons It’s powerful, but not very user-friendly. May 12, 2025 5.0 Experience with the product has been 4 out of 5. Every so often their maintenance release messes up the windows firewall port(s) and can take some finessing to get working properly. This is on a network with server and 2-users. Pros Works as it should for small business accounting, easy to use. Cons The worst price gouging of any software product I've ever used. In 2022 a 2-user license for the desktop Pro version was $549, in 2023 they raised it to $749, in 2024 it went up $849. And here we are in 2025, only (4) years later and now the price is up to $1,199, that's DOUBLE the price!! Terrible that they strong-arm you into being a subscription based service and raise the prices in a VERY UNREASONABLE manner - to me, this warrants a class action suit. Owner Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Quickbooks Desktop is still the Goto bookkeeping software" June 5, 2018 3.0 Probably the last remaining bookkeeping software in the bookkeeping industry from the older years though many online bookkeeping services are available, hence Intuit is pushing QB Online version instead of the desktop version which is Superior in functionality but not access for obvious reasons. People MUST LEARN how to use QB PROPERLY to avoid MANY issues caused by the users themselves who are too lazy to learn and to use. Do NOT blame the QB or tax professionals that are hired to fix the QB owners messes! Pros Relatively simple to use especially if you're on the cash basis of accounting. Can delete many entries. Cons Accrual basis can be confusing, if not difficult, especially when you use invoices/receipts since you have to 'link' them to when you actually pay the invoices or receive payment, which many people do NOT, which causes the problems! Do NOT use 'Undeposited Funds', EVER! Just deposit the receipts! Many people do NOT clear/reconcile the 'Undeposited Funds' account which causes LOTS of problems! QB Owners REFUSE to learn how to use the software properly hence the large amount of Errors because many don't know how to use the software and do NOT know basic bookkeeping concepts/usage! Intuit is making Older QB versions Obsolete every ~3 years by dropping support and updates. AVOID QB payroll unless you KNOW what you're doing! Pros Easy to search, get reports, make changes to Bill/check entries. What I most loved was the Loan Manager, which has been removed from latest updates. Cons Intuit is trying to force us to use QB Online. I hate Online. I have used it before and it has not improved much at all. The price of Desktop is astronomical now. I do not use Inventory or PO's as they are cumbersome in QB. I do not use Payroll either. But I am paying for all of these features. They should be separate optional fees. And they have removed Loan Manager, which I use to manage our 20+ loans. Inventory management that syncs up with your invoices make purchase orders a breeze. April 7, 2025 3.0 It was good while it was operating in the EU, but it was a huge let-down when they dropped the EU. They also made it very difficult to access old accounts once they tried to make everyone switch to Quickbooks Online. Pros I liked that Quickbooks Desktop was not online, so I could use my product in my office without going online. It was easy to use and flexible if a bookkeeper made a mistake. Cons Because it was a standalone product, updates were slower. I really was upset when Quickbooks Desktop ceased trading in Europe and tried to force customers to use their Online product. I tried using Quickbooks Online, but could not import enough legacy data, so I decided to switch to another brand. Review Source RE Rebecca E. We are able to integrated our delivery app with it (cool running) and it works without any issues. Pros I have been using this for my small business for over 10 years-- it is super user friendly. I have used everything from PeopleSoft, to Netsuite and SAP and I have to say that QuickBooks is the easiest to use and the one that I have enjoyed the most to use. Pros The software can grow with you and your company. Started using the software when we started and have continued to use it as we continue to grow as a multi million dollar business Cons When the reports are run and downloaded they can be hard to manipulate and use excel short cuts with how the data is presented. Therefore, you will have to manipulate the data to get it to work the way you want it to work. And my treasurer in the Rescue finds it invaluable for tracking our finances. Pros I own a small business and I run a rural animal rescue we use QuickBooks for both. In both cases it’s extremely easy to track sales and payments and produce financial statements. I find it very user-friendly. I’m easy to find what I need quickly. It's sad and frustrating that Intuit is phasing it out and over charging for the product now. I had called and asked a few years ago why the price was increasing and was told they were charging similar to their competitors. Why would I want to stay with a company that doesn't charge based on the product cost but just to make as much money as possible? The reason so many people use quickbooks is because of the low price. Competition is supposed to be good for consumers, but increasing prices to match what your competitors charge feels like price fixing. I would not be surprised to learn that Intuit is owned by private equity. Due to the poor way we have been treated as long time customers of quickbooks, we will be moving to another company this year. I know they're pushing everyone to quickbooks online, but I have tried it and it does not meet our needs, not is it easy to use. Pros Quickbooks desktop has lots of features and reports for running accounting tasks and seeing trends over time. I like that I can have several windows open at once to bounce back and forth between reports and registers. I also like that it's not dependent on a fast internet connection, since it lives on a work station or server. Cons While I like most of the features of quickbooks desktop, I don't like how the price keeps increasing. I wish we could keep it, but this year the cost will go up more than 50%, from $649 to $999. Pros Very easy to use the help section within the program. Particularly like that you can use the search bar for specific key words and find the relevant help section. Have also used the online customer service team to answer questions too and they have resolved my queries promptly. Recent integration with Dext has been super helpful for streamlining the processing of incoming invoices / receipts allowing for quicker bookkeeping and accounts. I like that when they implement the user interface changes they are fairly subtle and usually easy to adjust to. Keep it simple quickbooks! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Simplicity and automation are QB/ Intuits biggest sell IMO. Cons We’ve had a few glitches within the program in the past. For example - some automated emails were failing to send to some customers. These glitches seem to take FOREVER to fix. A speedier solution for longstanding issues in future would be fantastic. Another thing that seems to happen regularly is bank feeds fall off. Again, I’m sure that Qbooks/ intuit are aware and it’s not simple to fix. Bit it can be frustrating when manual intervention is required- automation and simplicity is what customers like. It's been the gold standard for decades. I'm glad they have an online version that has similar functionality. Pros We used QuickBooks Desktop for decades. The only reason we left was that QuickBooks Online integrates better with our CRM and allows us to have more users for a similar cost to Desktop. Cons Limited amount of users without additional cost. Pros Very inexpensive and very user friendly. I was able to use this program as an Office Manager while I was in college. I also used it for my own business right out of college. Cons I don't recall there being anything negative about Quickbooks. It was very easy to use and there is a number to call if you run in to any issues.
