Payroll Specialist Health, Wellness and Fitness Used the software for: 2+ years ### "QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020 was the last great version" December 13, 2022 5.0 For years, I liked using the desktop version because I had some small businesses that didn't make much revenue and I didn't want a huge expense to track my expenses and obtain a P&L. Since I didn't use any of the advanced features, I could utilize the same software for many years without acquiring new costs (or monthly costs). But now that Intuit has changed their business model to all subscription services, I will hold onto my QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020 software for as long as I can. Pros For the version I have (Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2020), what I liked most about this desktop product over the online product was that you could pay a one-time price and set up multiple companies. With the online product, you have to pay a subscription fee for each company. Cons I do not like that you have to pay a subscription to use the desktop software now. Since you have to pay a subscription now, it makes more sense to use the online version instead of the desktop version. Review Source SD Sally D. Most vendors and clients are familiar with the name making it trustworthy. Once you have been using it for a while and have everything setup, the process is very smooth. Pros QuickBooks Desktop Pro is a valuable tool for running a small business. I have used the software to prepare tax reporting documents, but have found over the years that it has a lot of other uses. You can keep track of all of your vendors in one place, send invoices, write follow up emails and monitor progress. At tax time, there are several ways to download or print data for an accountant. It will save you and your accountant valuable time later when everything is properly formatted and QuickBooks makes that simple. Cons The product is expensive. It is almost not worth it for some small businesses but once information is loaded into the software it makes invoicing very quick saving time. It is also a bit complex to use. I took a course at our local community college that helped. It also helps to know a bit about accounting or you may get a bit lost. Took some time to set up but once done the program is easy to use and would recommend it to any start up or existing business. Pros The ease of managing my daily bookkeeping and taxes, Keeping track of my daily expenses. It is an moderately priced program. Cons Customer service wasn't always as easy to get a hold of. Some of the applications in the program were difficult to set up. But for the most part the software did what I expected. We are satisfied with the functionality of Intuit apart from few drawbacks. For the companies with large number of employees, the cost will be bit higher and the cost of software will be similar to MYOB and Xero due to the payroll expenses. However, this expense can be offset against the ability to get real time report and its other features. Pros The best part about this software is its user friendliness as well as being able to access the files by multiple users at the same time through online. Also, one of the great features about intuit is its audit trial. Users are able to see the audit trial of specific transaction within a second. Cons There are few areas where intuit needs to improve such as invoice templates. It has improved a lot but still has not been able to meet our expectation. Pros It was easy to use and performs for very simple functions. Cons If you have any isses with QB there is no one to call that can help. Call center is overseas. Answers given are not correct and do not rectify issues. Just hope you have a friend that you can call.If you request a refund, the call is dropped or a CSR will promise a refund, but refunds are never received as promised, no matter how many times you call. No extensive training is required to use QuickBooks Self-Employed. Pros QuickBooks Pro Self-Employed helps me manage my income and expenses. The application is easy to use, and there is chat support available within the app. The chat support staff I have worked with have always been able to answer my questions and address any issues I may be having. Overall, this is a fantastic product that can help your business find financial stability and sustainability. Cons The estimated taxes calculation is somewhat complicated. For example, when you post a quarterly tax payment for quarter three (3), it continues to show on quarter (2). The reason being as I was told because I have to pay the total estimated taxes for quarter 2, if I have not yet reached my estimated tax calculation then it will post any subsequent payments to the previous quarter. This function can be somewhat complicated. But, when has calculating taxes ever been easy? Review Source Rob R. Retrieval of previously entered forms is quick and easy. Payroll taxes can be completed and electronically filed. corporate taxes can be filed electronically also. June 14, 2018 3.0 There are better things out there, and not all of them are online. Stop trying to force me into your public Quickbooks online product. My financial data, my money, and none of your business to sell my data. Pros It is easy to use and conduct business, it is also nice to order finance/office supplies from the company that makes the software. Cons Lots of add-ons and additional fees to have true automation between bank and business. Also, Intuit pushes its online product hard with ad within a paid product. Accepting credit cards within the software is only good for Intuit's credit card service, so it would be nice to hook into larger providers like Authorize.net or larger bank solutions. It would also be nice to see it support crypto currency and other currency as we are moving to a global economy.
