Pros Most parts of the program were easy to use! Cons When Quickbooks forced their small business owners to Quickbooks Online, it was not an easy process. Forcing that kind of switch in the middle of a year, was less than convenient, especially when our company file was too big to transfer anything but out customers and vendor lists. Pros I like the ease of being able to have multiple accounts at the touch of your fingertips. It is also pretty easy to set up and maintain. Cons The cost is high for a small business. And, service has been very difficult at times. I tried to switch to on-line and it was a nightmare and then going back to desk top was also a nightmare. My recommendations is to stick with one and make sure you back up often. Too much risk of accidently making changes to closed periods by mistake. Pros Easy to use. Works well for small companies with minimal employees. Cons Too easy to make changes to closed periods; anyone with the closing password can change things that would affect financial statements. Changing item receipts to bills requires the closing password even if nothing changes that would affect financial statements. Hard to use for project costing. Support is awful. Support is decent, not awesome, and the level of reliance on paid consultancy for "how to" answers is questionable. Pros The biggest benefit of the desktop application, versus the online application, is control over the state of the action being taken at any given point in time. There remain issues with activities being worked on in the event of connectivity issues, or accidental use of the browser "back" button, etc. These issues are removed withn the implementation of the desktop version. User friendly and easily accessible from mobile devices Cons If you have too many users it becomes pricey, it's more suitable for smaller businesses than for larger ones. There are many reports that can be adapted to your needs. I was not properly trained and have managed to navigate and do everything I need to do. The find feature is excellent and can find transactions easily by check number, amount, name, etc. It's much better on the desktop than the online version. We have been using Quickbooks for many years and have had a great experience with it. Cons It's no longer being supported with security and updates, so we have to transition to online. Aside from that, it was hard that we only had two local computers with the program, so if we needed access from another location, we had to use a remote desktop. I appreciate the updates; I feels better about security and ease of use with new features. Cons It ittok me a while to adjust from other products but QuickBooks Desktop is a much better software for my small business.
