Pros Local setup and much secure. For a small team this is a great setup. Especially for us, as we wanted to integrate with our CRM software. Cons Remote access was an issue in this case. " October 22, 2024 5.0 I've always loved QuickBooks Desktop and have used it for many years for inputting purchase orders, invoices, taxes and payroll. The only complaint I have is when I had to update my version on a new computer and none of my older QuickBooks stuff would transfer over so it all had to be input again. Other than that, it's pretty straightforward. Pros What I like most about QuickBooks Desktop is the ease of use and the fact I can easily go back and forth between purchase orders and invoices. Cons Once upon a time I had an older version of QuickBooks and when I got a new computer I had to put a new version of QuickBooks Desktop on it and none of my previously saved stuff for my business would convert over to the new version. Pros I like the intuitive user interface and the ability to have several companies under the same license. Cons It's a bit sluggish to load at times and crashes or freezes occasionally. Support is awful, data backup functionality is awful, program navigation is awful, and the automatic updates aren't automatic in the least. Pros To be honest, not much. The fact of the matter is that QBD is the lesser of evils when it comes to business-use financial software. Cons The support by Intuit is awful. We were given no warning that with the sunsetting of the last box store version of QBD, so would be the support. We had a catastrophic event occur at our place of business, disrupting the local server, and when we were having issues recovering data, the Inuit team basically told us to pound sand because that version had been sunset. Owner Consumer Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Not bad bookkeeping software but some better options" November 7, 2024 4.0 Served it's purpose for the first few years and is a little clunky for a small owner operator business, but full of lots of features for the medium to larger business. Pros Much cheaper than the monthly online subscription, and was able to teach myself most of the functions necessary to do my own bookkeeping Cons No automatic back up like using the online version. A little confusing about where payments received or statement/receipts go to "unapplied funds" but then you have to select each payment in deposits. Balancing each account is not intuitive like in online version. If you don't create back up file, and have data loss (happened to me) it's a pain to recreate everything for a year. Also, if you run a mobile business like mine, you have to manually enter receipts and invoices. Review Source TL Travis L. Pros I liked how user friendly it was, and that I could access the tax information at the end of the year. How it had all my financial statements created and where to enter the amounts on my tax forms. Cons I liked least about QuickBooks desktop is the fact that I can only use one computer.
