OpManager MSP enhances my service delivery in the provision of managed services. I now spend less time switching between multiple applications and spend more of my time on performance metrics and even prevention strategies.

Pros

One aspect that I mostly like is the ability to schedule the automated generation of reports to specific clients. It helps me establish transparency between my team and our customers and how I can assign specific views to customers would prove as a value and customers will feel confident during the monthly review session.

Cons

One functional issue is that some of them are not synchronized in real-time concerning other related log data points. I realized that when monitoring the endpoints with high traffic volumes, there are irregularities in the performance history graphs.

The threshold-based alarm system of OpManager MSP was quite useful in managing network health. It also enabled my setting specific performance, alerts about potential issues were timely, thus dealing with such issues before they caused further trouble to my clients my work was not frequently interrupted.​

Cons

I realized that the alert system was prone to false positives some of which were within allowable thresholds of the network. This added more time for evaluation of the credibility of such particular alerts and lowered operational capacity slightly.​

I like especially one feature in this OpManager MSP and that is the degree of the performance review offered to aid in monitoring the performance. It enables me monitor networks’ status of various clients in real time hence giving me an advantage when it comes to timely detection on potential downtimes.

Cons

A downside is that there is sometimes a delay when auto-populating the fields in SQL View Map. Several times when adding new devices or networks, it may take some considerable amount of time to auto detect and create categories.

The Manage Engine OpManager MSP is ideal for network monitoring since it allows one to monitor issues before they complicate by offering a broad variety of solutions. It assists in the control of many connected client networks, with continuous monitoring and the capability to alert when there is an issue that requires intervention.

Cons

Sometimes I have had to wait for a while to receive notifications on real-time alerts. It takes quite some time at moments to prompt alerts of the network events meaning that during critical emergent incidents diagnosis may be slowed down.

The approach OpManager MSP adopts in terms of specifying performance thresholds, notification profile and escalation chain per tenant makes it impossible for issues to go unnoticed. I can restore the faulty server anywhere between a few minutes of the downtime being noticed.

Cons

It seems occasional failure when applying configuration backups between multiple clients due to slight difference in the device firmware version. It does not alert you to any incompatibilities and this led to trial and error repeatedly.

I liked how OpManager MSP offers full visibility into the multi-client environment without having to switch between tools. I was able to respond proactively in real-life outage scenarios by segregating the devices based on the client accounts and alert settings and having automatic alerts for above-specified thresholds.

Cons

One of the challenges that I have come across is compatibility of SNMP credential in case clients have overlapping IP space. It can sometimes apply credential improperly which results in little disparity in the monitoring data.

I found it useful that OpManager MSP offers an efficient approach to remote client network monitoring with real-time device health and configurable alerting. I was able to group my clients based on each other, which helped clear out the diagnostic confusion for my team and for us to act on it.

Cons

I found it had a weakness in that SNMP trap processing caused the update delay whenever several customers’ routers were being processed.

OpManager MSP has a nice integrated feature of monitoring WAN link which has assisted us in determining ISP problem before the client complains. It is this capability to assign probe agents and then measure latency and packet loss at several different points that our support offer.

Cons

If I want to compare the usage of links in five clients, I need to go to each tenant’s profile individually which is an extra step.

The predefined alerting rules with the mechanism of escalation by the threshold is helpful when there are dozens of clients to maintain. I am able to set configurable alert levels per device, handle alerts of different levels and provide alerting through alerts such as email.

Cons

When I try to loop through multiple ones to edit their thresholds or notification rules I still have to perform several steps.

During the assessment of ManageEngine OpManager MSP’s capabilities, the fault monitoring and auto-escalation processes received the highest attention. This way I was able to set up multiple alert levels and assign the technicians to the level to attend to the issue without much downtime.

Cons

I encountered challenges when configuring integration of OpManager MSP with some other ticketing systems as well. Most of the API based integrations were not as smooth as I expected and used to adjust them based on out current toolchain.

I found such aspects as multi-client segmentation to be great and effective because it allows for easy shifting between the customer views. I coordinate various clients sites and it is logical to me to keep each site’s activity organized separately.

Cons

The SNMP-based discovery process may not give correct details of the device and leads to guesswork. In some cases I had to use my own input to categorize some devices which could have been helped by better polling.

I have noticed that there is a very minimal amount of code automation for performing maintenance check-ups repeatedly. I have found that it does not have a right integration with some tools which affects other applications in the framework.

Overall, we find ManageEngine OpManager MSP to be a great network management solution. The customizable dashboards and real-time alerts are is great , allowing for proactive issue resolution. Some users do face challenges with performance, especially in larger environments. The mobile app may not provide the full range of features expected. The documentation helpful for troubleshooting is great.
