It is easy to use and our technicians find this extremely user friendly. Performance is always on par with our expectations (though we had to increase the resources frequently in the past, it seems that there is a good improvement in resource consumption). I love the snapshots which help us with quick setup to hit the ground running. Cons It's actually very easy to set up and work as per our needs, I am struggling to find something that we like the least. Performance used to be an issue but is not much of a problem now. Pros vmware workstation is very good for administrator to use, its can migrated to the vsphere faster if you think that your configuration of the VM is done. also you can connect your vmware workstation to vsphere faster and migrate in a minutes. I think that biggest advantage over free solutions is reliability. I also had better experience with connecting USB devices directly to the virtual machine, than when using VirtualBox. Pros VMware Workstation provides good reliability in comparison to other software. It is also easy to use for end user and basically makes working with virtual machines hassle free. This program just do its job and does it really well. Cons I think the biggest downside of using virtual machines is performance loss. I was using VMware to create virtual machine with Ubuntu 18.04, running on my Windows host. Running applications requiring GPU usually caused bottleneck and I finally decided to switch to dualboot and using Linux natively. Pros The impressive number of tools and features is evident within the first few minutes of using the software. It is probably the most well-known among these types of programs, and that notoriety is well-deserved. It can do just about anything one may need to do with a virtual machine. Cons The price tag on this software is the highest among its peers (to my knowledge, at least) and this can be problematic for those on a budget. We switched to Virtual box though as it too can do the job, but free of charge. The free VMware Workstation Player is not interesting enough (you need the paid version) Pros Working exclusively on MAC, VMWARE allows me to run windows applications on Mac. It's easy to save your session with the use of the snapshot feature. The machine is fast to awake, and usually works (it happens though that the virtual machine doesn't resume and forces us to restart it but isn't it the case with any other non-virtual machine anyway). Cons compared to other products, I feel that VMWARE takes a lot of resources (memory), so we don't leave it running too long. It's pricey compared to other free options (like Virtual box). I also like that integration with Kind which makes it really easy to create dev k8s clusters. Cons The pricing is high for consultants and freelance developers.
