Data and Applications Engineer Public Safety Used the software for: 2+ years ### "DvTDM - Greater Manchester Fire Service" October 4, 2024 4.0 DvTDM provides the front end for our data capture and document viewing system, which is accessed by over 2,000+ users. A very good experience with excellent support provided too. Pros The ability to customise the system, using macros and integration with other systems. The document viewer is excellent. Security and compatibility with Edge. The latest version supports SSL and TLS 1.2 and HTTPS with Single Sign On. Out of the box functionality is great and meets the majority of requirements. Cons The system is initially complex to learn, especially if you require lots of customisation. The system is not 'Responsive' in terms of the DvWeb viewer when accessed on different browser screen sizes. Pros It does all we currently need it for, which isn't much. Cons It looks and feels old-fashioned. We have never had any really good training on it. The person who supports the software is good at that function, but not the person you want as a trainer. Reason for choosing Data Viewer Total Document Management I didn't. It was inherited years ago and we haven't yet got around to reviewing it. It's not a "good fit" for our recently re-vamped organisation and having to pay for it in Euros is a real pain. Pros Ease of use for clients/ searching for files . Thumbnails and viewer are good features. Overall organization. Can get "under-the-hood" using MS-Access database for bulk entry of records or alternate for standardization of data formats/content. Cons There are issues with the viewers (not always WYSIWYG). When entering new records, duplicate files are created when not wanted. Initial install and setup needs to be simplified. Search could be faster. Search lists only a subset (initially) for large resulting records, requiring scrolling to bring up the next group. The native viewer in version 15 works very well. Cons The user interface looks a little dated. We have some large picklists which take some time to load.
