### "Google Ads Are A Must For Any Marketer!"

February 22, 2026

5.0

Overall our experience with Google Ads has been fantastic and we will continue to have it as a fundamental part of our marketing strategy. It is fantastic to see further developments with ad placements for YouTube Shorts and other formats. For any digital marketer having Google Ads as part of your advertising strategy is a must.

Pros

Our organization has been routinely using Google Ads for the past several years with great success. Year round we run Google Display, Demand Gen and YouTube ads for our various campaigns and we are always thrilled with the results we see. The advanced targeting really allows us to hone in on our target market and serve them ads across the web at optimum times. We've also been lucky to have received dedicated support through Google Ads specialists that have guided us to improve our campaign performance with actionable recommendations that have improved our CTR rates and our CPC costs.

Cons

There isn't many negative things I could say about Google Ads, but I do feel the back-end campaign manager user interface is due for a facelift to make it a bit more user friendly. This may just be nitpicking, but I do find that the UI is somewhat dated and could use a refresh to be more visually appealing and easier to navigate/find things.

### "Pay To Play and Rank At The Top For Searches"

July 20, 2025

4.0

Been using it to manage and get clients leads and business for over the last 10 years. It's the most used search engine where people are search so you have to pay to play essentially.

Pros

The best way to get your local business in front our people searching for what they have to offer. SEO can take time so bypassing that with ads get you top of the page for a cost.

Cons

The pricing has really increased over the Year and also the changes to keyword / keypharse search relevancy. Even phrase match now get you some off topic words. Plus a lot of their AI recommendations don't make sense to a lot of businesses.

Alternatives considered

[Meta for Business](https://www.capterra.com/p/213257/Facebook/)

Reason for choosing Google Ads

We use google for local business that are more lead base for searches. For example if you need a lawyer you'll be searching for one.

### "Use to be good, not anymore. Keyword tool is still decent."

June 6, 2025

3.0

It was great back in the day when you can really control everything manually. When you could pick specific channels, and really spend less to get more. Now they just want you to spend as a spray and pray approach. It can work for some companies, but in reality - you won't know what worked and what didn't. That's how they make their money.

Pros

The keyword function is still quite useful to help optimize SEO alongside an SEM Rush, but everything else isn't that great anymore. Managing Google Ads use to be quite an easy task for someone who was certified, but now it's essentially meant of agencies who know the ins and outs. That's just an extra step you have to pay for.

Cons

I dislike how they got a rid of the monthly trending data in the keyword planner. It just says how a keyword has changed in the last 3 months or 12 months now, instead of breaking down the exact month. The platform is just too heavy, and requires too many steps do to what you want. The YouTube side especially, is annoying since you can't target specific channels anymore. Retargeting control for banners is also quite limiting. Your ads can show up in places you really don't want. Yes you can manually say you don't want it on a specific site, but there's more bad sites than good ones. It's not possible to mark everything bad as bad.

### "Very effective, but is the time and cost worth it?"

February 24, 2026

4.0

Overall the experience is great for business. It has been essier to drive sales in targeted areas at the right time. But the cost would be why I stop using them.

Pros

The best thing about Google Ads is their precision marketing which helps drive traffic and conversions. Additionally, if you are searching for visibility this is the way to go.

Cons

The rising costs that have continued, while accessibility to other tools on Google is included, they are tools we already had so I would rather do without and payless. Also, it is not something for people who are well versed with the ecommerce scene.

### "Google Ads Whitelabel Customer"

April 22, 2025

Pros

Easy to start using and it provides a simple option for reaching a large audience with relevant needs.

Cons

At times the platform can be too restrictive or too broad thinking that it's establishing an ease of use. While maybe true, it doesn't make the platform better.

### "Marketers fume as Google Ads’ customer service hits ‘all-time low’"

June 20, 2025

1.0

Pros

I like that I can reach the entire world of customers for my brands and products within the Google ad monopoly / tech illuminati. I like that I have lots of options for ad formats.

Cons

I dislike their customer service and broken notifications. I dislike that my dashboard of metrics resets daily to metrics no one cares about like impressions rather than the core essential metrics like ROAS lol. Marketers fume as Google Ads’ customer service hits ‘all-time low’ \[sensitive content hidden\]

### "Great performance"

February 20, 2026

5.0

Google ads is great, and Google ads performance is great. Google and Meta should be the first networks new advertisers should test.

Pros

Very easy to use and set up ads. Google is one of the top performing ad networks so it should be one of the first ad networks to be tested.

Cons

I don't really have anything negative to say about google ads. Once you learn how to use it, it is very straight forward and easy to use.

### "Google Ads Have Been Excellent"

March 6, 2026

5.0

Overall, I've had a positive experience with Google Ads. They make it easy to analyze and process the data from my ads.

Pros

Google Ads is easy to set up and provides great analytics and reporting. We're able to easily see which ads are performing and make critical business decisions based on the data we receive from Google.

Cons

Sometimes the platform can be clunky. Google has made some big improvements to the UI over the last couple of years, and it is getting better. Sometimes I feel that if you have an issue, it can be difficult to find someone to get ahold of on the Google side to assist.

### "Advertising for Ecommerce"

July 25, 2024

Overall we are making a profit, albeit small at this time.

Pros

I like that you can use performance max to advertise all over Google, websites and YouTube without a lot of work. It is easy to set up and use for my business that targets hunters who need camouflage for turkey hunting, duck hunting, deer hunting and bowhunting.

Cons

The cost per click is always going up and it is hard to make enough on the return on ad spend these days, unless I can get the customer to order a complete bundle of our leafy suit, hat/mask and gloves.

### "Google ADS"

June 26, 2024

5.0

Overwall, Google Ads is the best place to advertise products and get more leads. Setting up the campaigns is easy, even for a beginner (simple campaigns).

Pros

Getting leads for your products with Google Ads is simple, and the return on investment is high. Campaign costs are not high and the reach is incredible. The best feature is the ability to choose location, demographics, genre and many more and show ads to interested people only.

Cons

Setting up a more complex campaign is not that easy and can take some time.

### "Google Ads - the automated ad manager for websites"

October 14, 2022

5.0

Pros

Aside being free the best part is Google finds the targeted audiences for your website according to what kind of ads you have on your website or what kind of products or services you provide. They filter the visitors by age groups and preferences. Google Ads also has an easy to use dashboard that can generate different reports about your ad performances.

Cons

It is a web based application controlled by Google therefore does not allow you to customize it or manage it on your own, for any technical issues you also had to work with Google to resolve which can be more time consuming vs doing it on your own.

Alternatives considered

[CJ Affiliate](https://www.capterra.com/p/233635/CJ-Affiliate/)

Reason for choosing Google Ads

We ended up switching to CJ Affiliate as it seem to provided better options for advertisers and they also give you more control over your ads and how you want to run your data analysis.

### "Google Ads has a high learning curve but is worth it."

September 25, 2024

4.0

Activating Google ads was easy, however once data started coming in, we realized it was not set up properly for our business model. We then reached out to a 3rd party service that was able to configure settings to our needs.

Pros

Google Ads is a necessity for digital marketing. The Ad Manager provides detailed insight into the performance of your campaigns.

Cons

It can be difficult to setup and use if you are not familiar with digital marketing. I would recommend having some familiarity with digital marketing prior to implementing Google Marketing. The results coming out are only as good as the data you have going in.

### "Search ads for anyone... who knows what's going on"

December 6, 2024

5.0

It is available for anyoneone to use with any budget size, but can be very tricky to run campaigns with a good return. It can get very complicated so most of the time it will require a specialist or freelancer to manage effectively, or a lot of dedication to learn the craft. It needs to be correctly integrated into every connected Google product as well as your site and any third parties, for the tracking to have any significance. It's very hard to oversee anyone working on your account (eg. agency) if you don't know your stuff in detail. And if you do, you might be better off managing it yourself.

Pros

The best way to reach customers with purchase intent.

Cons

Complicated, hard to get a good oversight of the whole product to truly know what you're doing.

### "Good functionality but deceitful practice"

April 24, 2023

3.0

Google is an auction house that is trying to get you to spend as much money as it can. The advice they give on how to use their platform is not in your best interest, it's in the interest of getting you to compete for bids regardless of their relevance. The platform can be incredibly useful. Go slow, take a few weeks between strategy changes. It's not as complicated as they try to make it look. Use lots and lots of negative keywords!Understand that google wants to show your product to customers; it's in their best interest to have every product listed, they just also want to milk you at the same time. Caveat Emporium

Pros

They provide an easy insight into the activity of users you are interacting with. I am a layman at this, doing our campaign management while the SEO is done by a consultant. I am able to navigate googles interfaces and become knowledgeable and fairly competent at using it.

Cons

The are constantly trying to push you to spend money that wont get accurate hits. Their bidding system does not have the customers best interest in mind and boarders on deceitful. None of the advice I have gotten from google personnel over the 3+ years i have been using the system is in the best interest of my company. It is all tailored around you spending more money to get more clicks. They are not interested in efficiency or correct value pricing. They simply want to get you competing with other bidders to inflate the price they can get. This might be a useful strategy if you're selling low quality B2C products, but anything that take research or a discerning purchaser the premiums they try to push for first clicks are not worth it. The staff at google are trained to pushed everyone to this style of marketing auction. They do not care about learning your business or efficiently and economically getting you customers.

### "Google Ads is by far the Best PPC Platform if you want actual conversions"

June 8, 2022

5.0

Overall experience has been very good I can say as if you're looking for Actual Conversions and not the attributed conversions unlike other Ad Platforms then you can get that here as they provide different attribution models which can help the advertisers to identify which Campaign or Ads helped in getting the conversions.

Pros

\- It allows the advertisers to plan the keywords with the use of Keyword Planner which is their own offering - Newly Launched Responsive Search Ads are far far better than the old Expanded Text Ads and it allows the Optimization scope for Text Ads - Allows the advertiser to directly integrate with Google Analytics where the Advertiser can create the Remarketing Audiences and import them in Google Ads to be used in Ad Campaigns - Allows the user to show ads on certain websites and website types and similarly exclude them if it is required.

Cons

\- The Recommendations they provide using their AI is 80% of the time is useless. - Display Ads and its Network is very poor and its Display Ads Targeting is very poor compared to other vendors in the market. - No Option to allow the advertiser to showcase which Type of Website and Quality of Website they want to display their Ads.
