The issues with it is that is is hard to scale. It is difficult to get out of the box functionality to work without having to get specialist help which can come at a price. The system feels quite clunky with multiple steps to get to a result or output. Maybe better for smaller businesses. **Pros:** Sage X3 is a good financial system for a small to medium company. Transactions are easy to track and to post with the relevant screens that can be navigated through. It is also good for a company with multiple entities as these can be interchanged and tracked easily. The reporting functionality 'SEI' which is an excel add in is quite good and allows individuals to create reports which can be used for relevant purposes. This is a quick and easy way of getting information from the system. the debtors and creditors aging reporting is also quite good which allows us to see a good overview of the transactional aspects of the business. **Cons:** Difficult to make any changes if required. There is little information available for self help so if any changes need to be made or assistance then this usually requires an additional cost or discussions with specialists which can be timely and costly. For example, a change in the year end date was not easy for us as there has been forward postings for deferred revenue. Additionally control is a bit lacking with Sage X3, it is difficult to do things like close down month end or specify roles due to having to look in multiple places. A simple month end close you have to go to about 4/5 screens so it is easy to make mistakes here. It is also difficult to upgrade when different patches are released and usually you have to get specialist help with this which can be expensive.
