### "Amazing for teaching and interactive whiteboarding! Best teaching platform I’ve used : )"

June 29, 2026

5.0

Overall, I am quite pleased with the platform, and it has really boosted my teaching experience compared to google meet. I would however recommend to the lessonspace team that they integrate a booking/scheduling feature similar to Zoom and google workspace, and possibly even integrated payments. This would really make it a complete product for tutors.

Pros

Lessonspace’s whiteboarding tool is absolutely amazing and makes lessons so much more interactive. Other platforms such as zoom, and miro also have this interactive whiteboarding feature, but lessonspace’s is simple to use, and I love that out has teaching specific tools, such as a calculator and cobrowser, that both the teachers and students can interact with at the save time, and moreover it even allows you to annotate the contents of the cobrowser.

Cons

I don’t like that you can’t scroll horizontally when you upload a document. Also it’s quite annoying that you can’t download recordings and can only watch them within the lessonspace player. When you look up how to download the recording on their own website, they expect you to play the recording and screen record it. This was quite disappointing for me. Asides from that it is an excellent platform for online teaching.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Lessonspace

Zoom had a lot of the same features plus a dew, but I found Lessonspac included more features at lower prices and so Lessonspace it was!

Google meet did not have any whiteboarding area, unless you upgraded to google workspace which a found was a on the slightly pricier side. Lessonspace offered all the same features that I needed, minus a few, but at a great price so I knew a switch was necessary.

### "Teething troubles"

May 15, 2026

4.0

Overall, I've been very happy with Lessonspace, despite the aforementioned problem with PDF downloads and turning on mic/camera.

Pros

I love the simplicity of use and the simple fact, that I can collaborate on the PDF document with my students by scrolling vertically, with the horizontal axis locked. Most other platforms of this type don't let me do that, and it's easy to get lost on an infinite space with no boundaries or sense of proportions/size. Also, I like the ability to integrate Lessonspace with other platforms. Personally, I use it with TutorBird LMS and it's working smoothly.

Cons

Unfortunately, when I download the edited PDF with our annotations and my comments to give my student as homework (I do it multiple times every day), I can only get a giant canvas of white with tiny strip of the pages with our edits in the middle. I would like to get multiple-page PDF like the original document, just with the edits I've made during the lesson. Also, my students often experience the problem, or a delay with launching the camera and microphone at the start of a meeting. They don't turn on immediately, but it takes 5-10 seconds to do so. Then everything works as expected.

### "Great idea, limited functionality"

May 7, 2026

1.0

I don't like it, it's too limited in functionality, and isn't good for younger learners. I would much rather use a different platform. Its limitations are frustrating and far outweigh the positives

Pros

The whiteboard features, being able to have multiple tabs open. Having a chat function as well as microphone, the bare bones functionality is okay

Cons

You can't access the lesson you have scheduled from within the Primary Tutoring Platform - you have export the file and then upload it into a new lesson - very time consuming and inefficient. Lack of resources, very hard to use interactively with younger learners You can't embed video or animations There are only two games available No way to save the room after the lesson has ended It records everything, even the sessions where I'm setting up I can't organise my different lessons into subfolders, e.g. one per student I'm working with, they're just in a big mess on the homepage I can't access recordings of my lessons

Response from Lessonspace

May 12, 2026

Hi Jess, Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re sorry to hear that Lessonspace hasn’t met your expectations, particularly when it comes to working with younger learners. We’d love to help address the pain points you mentioned. Scheduled and recurring lessons can reuse the same Space and existing materials without needing to re-upload content each time, though this can depend on your organisation’s setup. We’d be happy to work with them to help ensure you’re able to make the most of these features, including accessing lesson recordings. We also appreciate your feedback around games and whiteboard management. Expanding our interactive tools and improving whiteboard management are both on our roadmap. In the meantime, many tutors use our cobrowser feature to share videos and games directly with students during lessons. Please get in touch with us at success@thelessonspace.com so we can assist further.

### "Great product for Online Teaching and Learning"

June 10, 2026

5.0

Generally, I am very happy with it. As with all online platforms, there are some quirks you have to get used to, but this is comprehensive, highly functional, very reliable - I have had no crashes - and it has enabled me to seamlessly teach pupils online from a range of locations.

Pros

As a tutor, it provides an excellent space to teach. The video and voice functionality is exceptional. The tools provided on the whiteboards are comprehensive, almost too much so without a good play around, but the basics are all where I would expect them to be. The chat function allows me to easily share links and files with pupils, and vice versa. The screen-sharing feature is a godsend, as one can actively see what a pupil is doing and intervene before frustration kicks in. Overall, I am very comfortable using this product.

Cons

There are lots of tools buried within certain menus, such as the library. It would be nice if there was a quick reference sheet to see all the features in a larger menu, with a brief explanation of how they work. Maybe a link to a pdf would be useful directly from the spaces whiteboards themselves. The other thing that would be nice, is if there could be an option to smooth out text and images drawn with the pen tool. In an ideal world, everyone would have a graphics tablet to write on, but most pupils do not and often, the pen tool helps layout maths questions in a way the text tool cannot do. So a feature that could be toggled on and off for pen smoothing would be lovely. My biggest gripe is that there will be times that I am working with a pupil on a different tab, not directly linked to lessonspace, and then the voice times out. It would be nice to have an option to set a custom timeout value.

### "Simple and good performance."

June 25, 2026

Very solid, very few performance issues and just what you want from an online classroom without the faff.

Pros

Lessonspace provides all the tools a teacher needs to provide high quality lessons online, and is very simple to get used to.

Cons

It would be useful to have a more obvious page/tab showing you your currently monthly usage and how much your bill is coming to if you go over your hours.

### "Excellent platform for empowering young learners online"

June 26, 2026

5.0

Our overall experience with Lessonspace has been excellent. As a nonprofit organization, Young Africans Technology depends on tools that can help us reach and empower young people through education. Lessonspace has supported our online Maths, Physics, Accounting, and Coding lessons very well. It has made learning more accessible, engaging, and organized for our students. The students love using it, and it has played an important role in helping us empower young people through technology and education.

Pros

Lessonspace has been very helpful for Young Africans Technology, a nonprofit organization that teaches Maths, Physics, Accounting, and Coding to young people from disadvantaged communities. The platform makes online teaching easier, more interactive, and more effective. It helps our students participate actively during lessons, understand difficult topics better, and enjoy learning online.

Cons

For coding lessons, one feature that would make Lessonspace even better is the ability to run code directly after writing it. At the moment, students can write and discuss code, but they need another tool to test or execute it. Adding a built-in code runner would make coding lessons more practical and interactive for both teachers and students.

### "Online teaching made easier"

Lessonspace made online lessons organized and interactive. The whiteboard and collaboration tools were very useful.

Pros

Lessonspace is a very effective platform for online teaching. It is easy to upload documents and share your screen. The students love to be able to right on the screen and participate fully.

Cons

Some tools felt harder to learn than expected overall. The students can be overwhelmed with all the tools.

It was easier than I thought it would be. Certain screens popped up right away, and the student materials were easy to find.

Pros

Easy to navigate, self-explanatory. The explanation guide helped me to learn everything I did not know.

Cons

Lots of places to click my mouse, maybe if icons were different colors, I could tell them apart faster.

### "big app with little overheads "

May 19, 2026

I am very pleased it's easy to use and provides upscaling opportunity. I think some basic systems for students to acces their spaces or files after the lesson would be good

Pros

Very convenient and seems to work quite smoothly, I didn't experience any issues, so reliable. There are some tools to be suitable with maybe more primary school teaching

Cons

The tool sets need to be broader, more table type tools and organisers to make things easier , text input tool is not very smart.

Pros

Cons

### "One of the best online teaching platforms available"

April 25, 2025

5.0

Lessonspace is my go-to platform since it is well suited to quantitative subjects (love the built-in graphing function that can be used collaboratively!) as well as more text-heavy subjects. As mentioned above, I also appreciate that it is not as overloaded with functions as some of the other platforms and that all features are easily assessible and quite intuitive, so most students require very little instruction to get started.

Pros

I have been a tutor for Math and several AP subjects for many years, and I have tried several different platforms for my remote lessons. Lessonspace is stable and easy to use, and has just enough features to allow for flexible and interactive lessons without causing friction.

Cons

The build-in library elements seem somewhat random and most of them are of limited use if you work with students at the high school level and beyond. I use a large personal libary of materials, but it would be nice if Lessonspace would have a larger repertoire of elements given that the somewhat unpredictable nature of one-on-one instruction sometimes leaves us scrambling for additional materials in the middle of a session.

Switched from

[Google Meet](https://www.capterra.com/p/176572/Google-Hangouts/)

My employer purchased Lessonspace several years ago, after an early oneline meeting platform we had been using proved too unstable and clumsy (sorry, I do not remember the name of this platform). After that, we were still given the option of using Zoom or Google Meet instead, but I found Lessonspace the best fit for my virtual one-on-one and small group lessions.

### "Best Virtual Learning Platform in its Category"

June 23, 2025

5.0

I love it. Performance for price is the best in its class. Classes and lessons can be conducted all over the world with decent real-feel. Only downside is trying to get documents that now have notes, worked-out problems, or revisions saved.

Pros

Very easy to navigate from first use. Good range of basic writing tools (type, pen, highlighter, shapes, colors, etc.). Can upload a range of documents. Can't beat the price!

Cons

Can't re-download documents from interface (often will have important notes, explanations, revisions, calculations etc. on it). Takes a lot of processing power and bandwidth (not compared to gaming, though) - older laptops and for example public wifi connections won't sustain clear connection with video/audio.

### "A perfect platform for an online tutor or teacher"

May 23, 2025

5.0

Pros

After launching my tutoring business a few months ago, I spent a lot of time trialling platforms like Teams, Google Meet, Zoom and others. While each had their strengths, none were truly designed with teaching in mind — they’re built for meetings, not lessons. Then I discovered Lessonspace, and I’m so glad I did. It’s tailor-made for tutors and packed with tools that make online teaching smooth, interactive, and professional. Any minor features I thought could be improved are already being worked on, which shows just how proactive the Lessonspace team is. I also had a free demo call with \[sensitive content hidden\], who was fantastic at walking me through the platform. Overall, the subscription pricing is very reasonable for what’s included. Highly recommended for any online educator!

Cons

At times I have noticed some minor glitches, but nothing in comparison to all the other platforms I have tried.

Alternatives considered

### "My experience with lessonspace. "

December 16, 2025

Lessonspace enables me to tutor privatley, on a consistent and reliable platform. It is nice to be able to plan lessons and save slides as zip file to then use later.

Pros

I am a tutor with MyTutor, as well tutoring privately. It is convenient that mytutor uses lessonspace as well. The camera features, leading mode, and general whitboard tools are really good for my style of tutoring.

Cons

The graphing tool is not good enough to use in lessons. The sizing isn't consistent and goes will go weird (sometimes really long of tall) and I have to scroll or zoom out really far to find the new graph.

### "Game changer for Maths tutors "

February 11, 2025

5.0

Great, would highly recommend and a great price!

Pros

The fact that the link remains the same once it is created so it saves a lot of time and admin + makes it easier for my students. Equally, the link can be used anytime and can be accessed by myself, the tutor as well as the students so they can refer back to anything from our lesson. It’s great that the lesson notes are downloadable - a game changer for me and again saves me a lot of time. The lesson space itself is very interactive with the ability of screen share, whiteboard and great tools for a Maths tutor! You can upload multiple worksheets onto multiple tabs or keep building on a current tab. More importantly, the ability to change background colours or have grids can be really helpful for students who are visual learners. It’s also great at showing with party has any connection issues and how to solve them.

Cons

Nothing in particular at the moment though a bigger range of colours could be helpful for the pen and highlighter tool. Equally more maths shapes. A protractor and a ruler could be great too (though I know they use to have this and it seems it was removed.) Otherwise the current shapes and line/graph tools are really great.

### "Using Lessonspace as a Virtual Classroom"

October 23, 2025

5.0

Overall, Lessonspace is fabulous. It is perfect for teaching online. The pace allows lots of different functions within the space, including a new document, sticky notes and adding your own documents.

Pros

The functionality of the space. Allowing students to share the functions is brilliant in a lesson. It is value for money and the user interface is helpful for teaching online. I haven't used all the functionality yet, though.

Cons

It would be useful to split my spaces into folders by subject and/or student; I find that I can get confused about which spaces I'm working with on a given day.

### "Teacher-Approved: High-Engagement Lessons, Low Friction Setup"

December 31, 2025

5.0

Very positive. It’s a reliable, educator-first platform that supports high-quality, personalized instruction. My students stay engaged, parents find it easy, and my team can teach with confidence. And their customer service is fantastic—responsive, friendly, and genuinely helpful whenever we need support.

Pros

Lessonspace gives me true flexibility - I can spin up sessions on the fly, switch between 1:1 and small groups, and keep everything in one place. It’s built for a learner-centered classroom: shared boards, embedded docs, and multi-modal tools let students lead, build, and explain their thinking. The interactivity is excellent - drawing, annotating, live co-editing - so engagement stays high and instruction is visible. I also appreciate the ease of scheduling/classes; links, rooms, and recurring sessions are simple to manage for families. Finally, their digital security (including recorded sessions!) gives me peace of mind for minors and sensitive academic records.

Cons

Pricing can get expensive as hours scale or if hours are irregular, especially for solo or tiny teams. It makes more sense once you’re a medium-sized operation (250+ teaching hours/month), where the per-hour value and centralized features offset the cost.

### "Lesson space"

March 30, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with Lessonspace has been very positive. It’s easy to use, and the shared whiteboard makes lessons interactive and engaging. Compared to Zoom, it feels more collaborative, helping students stay involved and understand concepts more clearly.

Pros

I like using Lessonspace because it makes my lessons more interactive and engaging. The shared whiteboard allows both me and the student to write, draw, and solve problems at the same time, which feels more like working together in person. This feature helps students stay focused and participate actively instead of just listening. Compared to Zoom, it offers a better learning experience because it supports real collaboration rather than one-sided teaching. Overall, it creates a more dynamic environment where ideas can be explained clearly, questions can be answered quickly, and students feel more involved in the learning process every day.

Cons

How it is in browser and no app. Meaning when i join from ipad, sometimes because of my hand whilst writing, it flips off the screen.

### "Great Space!"

July 8, 2025

5.0

Pros

I really enjoyed using Lessonspace because of how interactive and engaging it is. The platform makes it easy to stay connected and involved during sessions, whether through the shared whiteboard, real-time annotations, or collaborative features like screen sharing and file uploads. It creates an environment that feels more like a hands-on classroom rather than just a video call. Everything being in one place made the learning experience smoother and more focused. I felt like I could genuinely connect with others and actively participate, which made the sessions more productive and enjoyable.

Cons

I think the one thing I liked least about Lessonspace was that it could occasionally be a bit glitchy or slow, especially with audio or screen sharing depending on the internet connection. While the tools are really helpful, there were times when syncing issues or small delays disrupted the flow of a session. It wasn’t constant, but when it happened, it made it harder to stay in the moment.

Good overall! I think as I get more comfortable with it I'm really going to enjoy using it a lot, but there are some small improvements I'd like.

Pros

Its super easy to connect with students and the multiple tabs make organizing my spaces very easy and convenient.

### "Solid Product I Strongly Recommend for Online Tutoring"

May 22, 2025

4.0

I have enjoyed using Lessonspace to provide online tutoring services. It is convenient, effective, easy to use, and easy to share with tutoring students.

Pros

It is fantastic that this single platform provides video conferencing and live joint-editing abilities alongside a stable repository of whiteboard and document materials to refer back to after video conferencing sessions end.

Cons

Sometimes the Lessonspace platform can be a bit laggy (although that may be my computer, not Lessonspace). It is also a bit inconvenient how the whiteboard and document tabs are separate interfaces. For example, I would love to be able to annotate a document tab with the whiteboard tools and it is inconvenient that documents uploaded as a whiteboard tab become uneditable. It seems to me that these two interfaces could be integrated into a single tab type that provides the best of both worlds.

My overall experience has thus far been satisfactory. But this is the first time for me that I am using it (for my own org, but have for other orgs).

Pros

User friendliness. The virtual learning space has a good interface, tools, affective teaching and the price is very fair.

Cons

The fact that attempting to add an admin (to view play backs) gives "available for students and teachers only". The admin, also a teacher, is then added as one of the teachers, but then you get an error message "already member of organization". You cannot have an admin who is also a teacher?

Easier to use, for the teacher and student.

Hi Joe! Thank you so much for leaving such a positive review - we’re really glad to hear you’ve been enjoying Lessonspace! Just a quick note: all admins automatically have a teacher role as well, so if you’d like a teacher or staff member to access (all) recordings, you can simply add them as an admin. I hope this helps, but please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at support@thelessonspace.com if we can assist further!

### "Better for teachers, better for students!"

November 11, 2025

4.0

My experience is positive! I am so happy that I find the application where my students can be active involved in my class😊

Pros

The best thing about Lessonspace is possibility to write on the screen in the same time with my students!

Cons

Student can't move the screen🥺 So she/he need to tell me 'please move the screen down/up', it will be easier that both actors see the same screen and can move it.

### "Easy to Use and Robust Online Classroom"

February 5, 2025

5.0

The audio and video features work flawlessly, uploading needed documents is fast, and the new feature of a shared tutor/student browser space makes it so easy for student and teacher to interact seamlessly with one another. Definitely a step above just being able to share a screen!

Pros

As an online tutor for the SAT and ACT tests, I find that Lessonspace gives me all the tools I need to be an effective tutor for my students!

Cons

The only less-than-optimal thing I've found about the platform is in accessing documents I've downloaded. Lessonspace gives the option to download into one tab or to download each page of the document into a separate tab. I don't want to download a long document into numerous tabs, but when I download such a document into one tab, I don't have to option to go directly to a specific page, but must scroll through the document to get to the page I want. A previous online space I used had a pulldown menu where I could select the specific page I wanted and go directly to it. I'd prefer this feature in Lessonspace if possible!
