It's a bit too expensive in my opinion for what it offers. But it does very well what it's supposed to do. Pros Motion is a great calendar manager, task manager and activitiy manager. Once it's set up and you learn how to use it, it's great for scheduling tasks between colleagues, manage all the synced calendars and automatically schedule activities in order of importance. Also, it replaced my Calendly to share availabilities, thanks to it's drag-time-slot feature. In general it's boosted our productivity, and helps us track how much time we work on each activity. It's not perfect though and has room for improvements.However, it really excels in task, activity and calendar management, blowing the competition out of the way. Cons To start, it's more expensive than it's competitors, such as Notion (With the N). If I'm correct, it's double the cost and it's way less developed. We've encountered a few sync bugs, where i would see a calendar but my colleague would not see mine The onboarding could be more guided, especially in setting up the sync settings and task syncing. So you don't have relation between the tasks of Notion and your calendar. Making tracking of time on activities quite problematic. However, Apple Calendar can do a similar job for free and I reverted to my good old Apple Calendar. Pros I like how you can see your next tasks on the landing page. You can drag an item on the calendar, pretty much like Apple Calendar, which makes it very easy to create a new event. Just give it a name and you're good to go. You can go ahead and customize your task easily, choosing a priority and a deadline for it. A nice feature that Motion has is the ability to split your task into chunks, and give it a minimum chunk duration. When adding a flexible meeting, you can specify the type of meeting (Zoom, Google Meet, Phone number, Location), it is not unique to this app, but is a must-have feature for such app. All your tasks, past and current, are easily accessible via the Task menu. From there, it is easy to reorganize / reassign the tasks. Cons I found it slower on Safari than on Chrome. When adding two tasks or a task and a meeting together, there is no reaction from Motion when I would expect a warning that two items happen at the same time... Sometimes prioritized tasks is a bit confusing. I've had issue with some prioritized tasks didn't show up in my calendar, but showed up in 'My Tasks". It may have been a bug. This app makes it very easy to do so, and it has essentially kept me from having so many lists of things to do. The app keeps track of what needs to be done and schedules it accordingly. I wish I had found this years ago. In my job I am someone who often gets pulled away from the task at hand. This app makes it easy to regroup and prioritize what needs to be done and what can be put off until tomorrow. It also makes you take notice when you keep pushing off that annoying task that you dread or that is really hard and motivates you to just do it and get it done. It also prevents you from dilly dallying when you know you only have so much time set aside to get something done. Lastly, when it seems the the to-do list is just never ending, it makes things feel more manageable by helping you lay out what you will do one single day, making things seem more achievable. Cons Not too many negatives. Sometimes it is a little slow to readjust the schedule when you make changes, but it usually gets it done within about 10 - 25 seconds. Additionally, being told what to do (within set parameters) has really helped my efforts to get things done. Providing I note a task in Motion together with a due date, I can forget about it until it's time to work. The scheduling feature is also very well put together and I will use it for all external appointments. Pros I love the ability to quickly add a task, approximate duration and deadline within 10 seconds. I don't need to worry about clashing schedules or not having enough time during the day. I also really like the look of the application and found the introduction videos to be very helpful in navigating the app for the first time. Cons I wish Motion didn't have to rely on a third-party calendar (Google or Outlook). Support tickets take 2 business days to get a response. Setting work hours for scheduling creates boundaries and targets for me to meet each day so I am not working late into the night. Pros I like that it prioritizes my to-do list for me. Easily reshuffles tasks and events based on unexpected fire drills at work. Calendar syncing allows for awareness of what I have going on and what I should be working on to stay on top of things. Cons The UI for inputting tasks still feels clunky at times. There is no way to sort or reorder projects within a workspace, for example (although you can filter). I wish there was a better way to track progress on tasks other than just completing chunks of a task or manually changing the time to completion. Sometimes tasks take me longer than I anticipate, so being able to adapt to that schedule wise would be helpful. Cons The issues I have with Motion are minimal - I am looking for a few features to be added, like easier color coding on the calendar events, the ability to change the busy/free part of events that I'm invited to by others, being able to easily check off tasks on the project tab, a quick undo if I mark a task as completed by accident, and a better system / notifications when a recurring task can't be scheduled. I couldn't figure out a way to juggle all of the things I need to do while keeping them on my calendar at the same time. I live by my calendar so just that part alone is huge.It makes a huge daunting task list look visually possible to do. It is the closest you can get to the equivalent of an assistant organizing your calendar for you. Cons I wish you could choose which calendar a task goes to instead of just having a default calendar for your tasks. You can do this with events, but I don't see how to do this with tasks.
