Pros
It has a lot of useful fuctions and I love simple process to edit all audios I need. I can also reduce background noises and it's simply perfect for me.
What I like best about this software is how simple it is to use, even when it is my first time using it. I appreciate the editing capabilities of this software.
I like playing guitars with backing tracks. I love Audacity because it is very easy to use and make my own backing tracks.
It's free and is great if you are on a tight budget. It served it's purpose and gave me an opportunity to record music that sounded like great demos.
Cons
After 6 hours of editing and episode for my podcast, the files corrupted. I was devastated and so stressed out and frustrated I laid on my floor and cried.
I am finding it difficult to separate vocals, I wonder if the effect really works because my attempts have proved abortive.
It is no Adobe Audition although it's her poor cousin. It will do loads although for major audio editing projects and professional production work you will begin to see where it falls behind.
It didn't work well on my HP laptop, so I had to put the program on my computer which has faster programming and it seems to fix the issue.

"Review of Audacity audio software"
Overall: Audacity has been extremely useful in several projects, including the making of short films, YouTube videos, voice overs for various applications, etc. It can be used by different people with varying levels of expertise and can solve many simple problems in audio manipulation with ease.
Pros: The product is easy to use and lean in terms of disk space. At the same time, its features are quite adequate for most audio applications. Some of its features, such as the noise removal tool, are truly revolutionary and greatly enhance audio for various projects.
Cons: Laying of multiple tracks is a bit difficult. It will help if the software provides drag and drop features in moving individual tracks.
"Best for bigger "
Overall: Overall good experience with audacity i recommend to use make the hit with your own style improve your skills through audacity
Pros: I feel good when I was starting making a Beats or recommending because everything easy to use
Cons: I need more mixing mastering equipment in audacity there are less options do to
"Great for basic audio editing and filtering"
Overall: I started using this when I lost my access to Adobe Creative Suite, and rapidly realized it was actually better suited to my needs. I wouldn't use it for mixing music, but it's perfectly adequate for taking a voice recording and prepping it for a podcast or voice-over. It's quick and easy, and it has a decent range of built-in tools and filters.
Pros: It's basic, but it does all you need for simple tasks.
Cons: Navigation within a clip can be tricky sometimes.
"Audacity, a simple and always useful audio recording software"
Overall: Personally, I use this software to record some voices in low spec PC's or when I need to record something quickly and easily, for these functions audacity is a great option, but when it comes to doing the full project I don't have the tools I would like to have, do I recommend audacity? Yes, but only as an alternative, not to use it as the main software.
Pros: Audacity is that software with most of us start in the audio recording and editing world, its facility of use and simplicity make it one of the most notable options for people who only want to record audio (plus it's free). Personally, I recommend this daw for people who only want to record voices for a podcast, or for musicians who only want to record demos in a quick and easy way, just by clicking the record button we will be doing everything we want.
Cons: Audacity is... very limited, it is good in its main function, but it really can't offer us much more, today there are daw's and free software more complete than audacity, searching in the web we can find advanced options for any musician, especially for people who focus on mixing and mastering, functions that are very difficult to do in audacity.
"A Great Audio Software"
Overall: Unlike expensive audio software, it's easy to use. I don't have time to learn a complicated software. I've used it for many years. I get high quality results for my clients and for my course studies which is a must. It's consistently being updated to give the best results. I can't do business without it.
Pros: I love that audacity is free and that it offers all the tools I need to record and edit my voiceovers, my e-course studies, and to create and edit mp3's to go with the video book trailers I create for my clients.
Cons: It must be downloaded to my computer to use.
"Audacity: Excellent for Free, But Pros Will Demand More "
Overall: I first tried Audacity way back in the early 00's and, while appreciating its feature set, never found it a compelling choice compared to Sound Forge or Wavelab. Mind you, it is totally free and will do the job for most amateur editors.
Pros: Audacity is extremely feature-rich for a free audio editor. This has made it immensely popular with beginners and podcasters looking for a free solution to get started. Audacity is a great place to start to learn audio editing.
Cons: Audacity suffers from one of the ugliest graphical user interfaces out there. Contrast is poor, the blue-on-grey aesthetic is exhausting, and the icons are straight out of a clipart site from 1998. Performance can be spotty on some Macs.
"Best software for the starting people!"
Overall: My overall experience is good since I use audacity to record some promotionals and advertising for the company to recruit new hires. This is weekly.
Pros: The best thing of this software is the easy way can be used. Have good elements and is not too much difficult to understand.
Cons: I believe they can improve in the interface since the actual one looks like and old version of an old software. Also I believe they need to explain each features since there's not a lot of information of the best way to use it.
"Great For Simple Taskes"
Overall: My experience has always been positive. Most of the time I need to handle some arrangements for any piece of sound, I look forward to employing this great tool.
Pros: Audacity does offer a super lightweight tool to manage short pieces of audio. It does import sounds hassle-free, provides a good waves diagram system to check pieces of sounds and handle music samples effortlessly.
Cons: I don't find particular cons about this free and easy to use software. It might be a little more capable in terms of the features, but it does provide a solution for simple audio tasks, and it does deliver.
"One of the best softwares for audio edition and recording."
Overall: My overall experience with audacity is a satisfactory one.
Pros: What I like the most about this software is that Is not expensive compared to other audio softwares.
Cons: I really didn’t dislike anything on this software.
"Easy audio editor to start learning"
Pros: It is easy to use. I saw a 5 minutes video and started using it for some audio cleanup.
Cons: I'm not sure if it integrates to adobe, and I ended up moving to adobe audacity. I liked the UI/UX better.
"Soft Review"
Overall: For ware, its size to my utter disbelieves its a miracle worker. It packs serious agility for anything in its range. It does really edit sound, though concerted ( deals exceeding well with hissing). It is also utterly unbelievable that you can use it so vividly to eliminate unwanted pauses and front noises (breaths though stealing the back sounds), for it just to be able to negate the waves and pick out something for its package size means a lot of concerted engineering. I still stick to aggregates though, like dealing with outdoor takes editing, for it fares well against white noise and all high noises (air hissing) real well.
Pros: An aptly incredulous little audio editor. Not much of a big machine tool but for the aggregate sound guy like a videographer where you are not supposed to separate sound elements but rather desire to leave the aggregated sound clean without separation, it works exceeding fine. It is an ideal little ware that does not even need installation for the most part and it cleans the general sound really well. the other beautiful thing is it can do that to the unamplified sound too, which is generally problematic to sound software, with real good spec inducing, you can bass up or lighten pitch by factoring, so being able to get the right back sounds for your video or single-channel export. Good for the guy who wants an edit of a bundled in an exportable and playable in almost all devices track. the good thing being you are able to convert to a number of consumable formats as much as professional one.
Cons: It is not good for noise separation, as demanded by a sound professional. It rather works well for aggregates, and cannot separate a single sound data to multiple elaborate sounds. in the case of separation, more of a single track enclosed recording ware, where all the unwanted background noises are pre-eliminated or rather a sound aggregate for the video guy.
"Free and loaded with great features"
Overall: It is a powerful and versatile software that offers a wide range of tools and features for working with audio. It has been very useful for me, whether I am looking to analyze or restore audio recordings, and has many useful features that have helped me get the job done.
Pros: I have found the Spectrogram view in Audacity to be a very useful feature for analyzing audio. It provides a visual representation of the frequency content of an audio signal over time, which can be very helpful for identifying and analyzing specific frequencies or tonal characteristics within a recording. Additionally, the Frequency Analysis tool has been very useful for analyzing the frequency content of a specific section of an audio signal. It generates a graph that shows the amplitude of each frequency present in the signal, which I often use for identifying and isolating specific frequencies or tonal characteristics, and for comparing the frequency content of different sections of a recording.
Cons: I have experienced some drawbacks when using the software. The Spectrogram view can be difficult to interpret and may not always provide a clear or intuitive representation of the audio. Took me some while to get used to it. The Frequency Analysis tool does not provide as much detail or resolution as I would need it to. Additionally, the Equalization tool can be difficult to use effectively without a good understanding of how different frequencies affect the overall sound of a recording.
"Listen, You Have Some Audacity (provided you get Audacity)"
Overall: Free apps aren’t always the most user-friendly (just look at all the free graphics programs and compare them to Photoshop for an example), but if they can still work as well as, if not surpass, the premium apps within the same category, then why not use them? For sound design, Audacity is that free app with the irritating UI that monopolizes this space, and if you’re interested in making and improving your own sound files, then you’ll want Audacity in your toolbox. With the ability to establish sound layers, adjust audio frequencies, and create samples, as well as to export the final result into most of the available sound profiles (.WAV, .MP3, .OGG, etc.), Audacity makes sense for any sound designer, musician, game designer, video creator, or anyone in media to have at the ready. And with the ability to label all exported sounds with a profile label (including “artist,” “track,” “album,” etc.), it almost begs the question, “Why pay for an audio production app?” Unless your paid app gives you the ability to turn your voice into a robotic chipmunk, then I don’t know if there’s a good answer for this.
Pros: Besides being free, Audacity comes with so many bells, whistles, and buttons that any competent sound designer will feel right at home. Because it’s open sourced (I think), it’s also adaptable with plugins, which you may want provided you can find some good ones online. And, of course, you can adjust layers and sound profiles, as well as export to your preferred format (provided you have the right codecs for such a thing—Audacity doesn’t come with those). It’s quite versatile.
Cons: If you’re a newbie, then you’ll probably feel lost without going through some online tutorials. Likewise, if you’re not a sound designer by trade, you may not appreciate the power that Audacity brings to the table. (I’m not a sound designer, so I know I’m in over my head at times.) The user-interface can also complicate a simple process like joining two audio clips together. But, again, it’s free, so who’s complaining?
"My accomplice for excellent audio results"
Overall: It is my accomplice to optimize results in the incorporation of voice in my audiovisual work. I use it and continue to use it because it is part of the tools that allow me to present quality work to my customers.
Pros: Work with audiovisual production, I really like the audio quality that is achieved through this application. It is one of my favorite programs to optimize voice edition. It allows you to achieve a very professional sound in my videos and that is what I like most about the program.
Cons: It does not present a very friendly interface, it is rather somewhat sober and somewhat complicated for Nobel users. Whenever I recommend it to people with little experience in this type of programs, they complain that it is a bit complicated to use and recognize their functions. Although they recognize their potential, they have a hard time being able to adapt to their graphic environment. In my case, that I use it regularly, Siegue being somewhat complex when I want to venture to deepen or activate other functionalities other than I usually use. I think you should change your design style and present a friendly interface and with more buttons with icons that facilitate the activation of your most common functions or even that you can be customized, as well as the different options offered by a professional camera, as soon as to configurations that allow us to be personalized at the user's choice.
"What is Audacity DAW"
Overall: The greatest free audio editing software (DAW) at the moment is Audacity. Most projects may be completed with this open-source software, which receives frequent updates. It supports a large number of plug-ins, is simple to learn, and is arguably the finest DAW to begin using when beginning any kind of audio editing.
Pros: simple waveform editing without a lot of prior audio editing experience. The UI is quite basic, but also incredibly minimalist. This lessens the impression of being overtaken by the task. It works with all significant audio sources and handles various audio formats exceptionally well.
Cons: The UI is fairly straightforward, however it's not particularly attractive. The program might be improved by adding more eye-catching visuals. For what it is, the functionality has never been lacking, but there haven't been any significant updates in a while. Although the community's support network is quite outstanding, it may be somewhat frightening to navigate through. For new users, having better standardized support resources would be advantageous.
"Audacity works well for me."
Overall: At first, I was having trouble with another software when it came to converting the mix to an MP3 file. I downloaded the Audacity program and made the MP3 file in a few minutes. While, I was there, I saw other things it could be used for. In particular, the voiceovers. I also found it very helpful when collaborating with other artists.
Pros: Many times, software has a learning curve. (How long it takes to be proficient in what you bought the software for) I found Audacity to be quite easy to learn. The curve, for me was abbreviated.
Cons: I don't have a Con for this. Frankly, for the price, I didn't have a high bar set for it. But Audacity far exceeded my expectations.
"High quality audio capture"
Overall: Audacity is a very good app especially for companies like ours where we deal with a lot of audio editing, once it is properly configured and understood how it works it captures high quality audio directly from the built in audio channel, thus eliminates static or background noise often generated by other apps that records from external speakers
Pros: It is one of the best audio capture app as it able to use direct channel audio capturing, the sound is then very clear and without static. Once a sound is captured it can be saved in any of the more popular audio formats. It is a free app and also has a fairly good support community forum where you can get help.
Cons: It also requires the integration of other apps such as Soundflower for direct audio capturing therefore makes it a bit complicated to setup and to understand especially for beginners. Audacity also has to be configured properly to capture the sound from Soundflower. Also the user interface is a bit outdated, more like old school style, also does not have too many functionality. Most people only use it for direct audio capture and not much else
"Good Audio Editing Software"
Overall: Overall, Audacity has been the perfect fit for voice narration. I've narrated over 100 instructional videos with this software with a lot of positive feedback about the clarity and quality of the audio,
Pros: You don't need a lot of experience with audio editing to use Audacity. The learning curve is quite small. The noise removal and normalization tools/effects are simple and powerful. It's a great way to learn the basics of audio editing.
Cons: The interface isn't particularly attractive and some of tools can be a little tedious to switch between. I've also found that if there are too many other programs running at once, it can inhibit Audacity's performance.
"you want to record and mix with high quality,Audacity is perfect for you."
Overall: overall experience I would really recommend this software for everyone and especially the beginners.
Pros: Audacity is a really common software to record and mix your audio, it has a really simple interface which making it looks easy to use for everyone. the software has many free plugins ready to use, and it has many advanced tools to make the audio sound really professional. in this software you can record audio and edit, add effects, control the sound and export your project in multiple audio formats.
Cons: to be honest, the software is great, but if it has a phone version that would be great.
"learning curve so steep it's vertical"
Overall: Trying to voice record. More than three weeks behind schedule due to performance issues.
Pros: When it works, it seems to be okay, but I can't even get to using it because settings and performance issues are severe.
Cons: Every day I sign on to the software, and every day it has a different problem than the day before. Nothing has been changed since the day before when I have inevitably spent HOURS finding that day's problem and fixing it. I have spent hours and hours searching their help forum. I have spent hours on the internet trying to identify what infinitesimal thing is causing problems. Sometimes I do nothing, and somehow the problem corrects itself for no reason. The whole point of this software is that I shouldn't need either a software engineer or a sound engineer to use it. That has not been my experience. Not sure if other programs are any better, but online reviews indicate that Audacity is one of the best around. There is virtually no help, except a forum where someone might or might not answer. I'm not stupid and I can follow the directions I find by googling. It's just that the solutions don't generally address the problem.
"Great for beginners to start with"
Overall: I was recording videos for my Youtube channel, and I needed something like GarageBand to record my vocals. Of course, it's aggrivating to use 2 different computers for this task, but I was able to find Audacity and use the program to get my audio in line. It also sounds really amazing! Took my videos to a more professional level
Pros: I loved being able to record and mix quickly without much trouble. Literally plugged in my microphone interface and started recording away! Once you understand it's simplicity, it can take you a long way!
Cons: There were times where slowing down the audio was too distorted, even after adding the right effects. Also, moving around the interface can be a bit overwhelming. There is alot of buttons in front of you, so making sure you know the userface is very important.
"Excellent for the beginner or for experienced technicians."
Overall: I have been very pleased with the capabilities of this program. It suits our needs to a tee.
Pros: Audacity is an affordable, feature-packed, editor that allows you to easily record, change, and enhance audio files. I love being able to take old audio tapes and record them directly into Audacity. Once in the program, it is simply a couple of clicks to eliminate background hiss. Easily import midi files directly from the source. Exports files in a wide range of common formats.
Cons: I would like a little more control over equalization while editing songs. Filtering out extraneous noise would be much easier. For example, I was trying to edit a background track for our church choir. The original recording had two beeps at one spot on the track. There is no way, that I can find, to eliminate that.
"Best free music editing software: Audacity"
Overall: I personally recommend Audacity to record and mix music because it is free. One of the best software which is free.
Pros: One of the best and lightweight music editing software which is free. I am using Audacity for mentioned below points: - Open Source, Free to use - User-friendly - Even audacity is free, it has lots of features and plugins - Flexible, Compatible and Lightweight - Very easy to record, mixing and edit
Cons: It would be better if mentioned below rooms are improved or add some features: - Some time it occurs problem while edit - Not well organize GUI - It get slow after multi track is more than 4 or 5
"Audacity is the standard"
Overall: I don't use Audacity for recording as much as for post production, e.g. equalizing the sound, making sure the volume is consistent across a recording, get rid of background noise, cutting out a cough or "ahem" and "ergh" here and there. That type of thing. Although it is not a simple tool (unless maybe you are a professional audio engineer), mostly due to the fact that there are so many things you can do with it, there are tons of tutorials on YouTube and across the internet to help you deal with a specific thing you want to solve. I use it to polish up the audio track with me talking for my podcast. Great tool to use, and you can't beat free!
Pros: First off, Audacity is completely free. But it is also the gold standard right now, which is quite an amazing combination. I mostly use this tool for post production of interviews and my podcast and it can do everything you need it to with relative ease.
Cons: It is chockfull with advanced features and there are so many settings, I find it hard to know what to do and how. My solution has been to bookmark a few tutorials for those tasks I need most and re-visit them. There are tons of how-to's on the internet that guide you through whatever it is you need to do step by step.
"Simple software but amazing for a number of reasons."
Overall: This was so much helpful as a beginner in music production. It taught me how to layer tracks and mix too... Basic concepts easily learned in audacity.
Pros: The easy and friendly interface in thos software is o overwhelming. You can teach yourself almost everything at one look or use. Simple but professional tools to use for multitrack mixing and editing.
Cons: Application mode of effects to the audio tracks
