4. Manca l’editing video: Non è una grande pecca per me, perché mi concentro sull'audio, ma se hai bisogno di fare montaggio video insieme all’audio, devi usare un altro software. Audacity si limita all’audio.

### "Great Free Open Source Software"

March 4, 2025

5.0

It has been wonderful. They keep up with the updates to operating systems and the functionality never suffers.

Pros

Open source audio editing software that works great! The fact that it is open source and free for use is beneficial. Also the flexibility of importing different audio files is great.

Cons

Nothing, the program works great. It has all the bells and whistles that you see in other programs that cost a lot of money. For general audio editing this program is great.

### "A Great Audio Software"

October 9, 2024

5.0

Unlike expensive audio software, it's easy to use. I don't have time to learn a complicated software. I've used it for many years. I get high quality results for my clients and for my course studies which is a must. It's consistently being updated to give the best results. I can't do business without it.

Pros

I love that audacity is free and that it offers all the tools I need to record and edit my voiceovers, my e-course studies, and to create and edit mp3's to go with the video book trailers I create for my clients.

Cons

It must be downloaded to my computer to use.

### "Audacity delivers. For FREE this is a top notch product."

November 25, 2024

5.0

I used Audacity personally when I was just beginning and it certainly 'wet my appetite' for the creative avenues digital music recording allows. Because it's FREE there's no loss to take a dive into the features. And it certainly delivers for the price. I have also used it in a classroom setting and it's also great place to start with students.

Pros

No way around it. This is a great FREE app. That's a great place to start your audio recording experience.

Cons

I don't like to criticize FREE apps...cause they are FREE. But...my experience it lags on the MIDI features. So if you plan to do live MIDI recordings of your parts, you will need to go back and do some MIDI bumping of your events cause it will struggle with proper placement.

### "Great for basic audio editing and filtering"

August 28, 2024

4.0

I started using this when I lost my access to Adobe Creative Suite, and rapidly realized it was actually better suited to my needs. I wouldn't use it for mixing music, but it's perfectly adequate for taking a voice recording and prepping it for a podcast or voice-over. It's quick and easy, and it has a decent range of built-in tools and filters.

Pros

It's basic, but it does all you need for simple tasks.

Cons

Navigation within a clip can be tricky sometimes.

### "My Podcast Got Noticed"

June 3, 2024

5.0

From the minute I started using Audacity, I was able to turn my podcast into an entertaining program that earned me an audience faster than I expected. I was able to put my ideas into sound only using Audacity. I swear by it.

Pros

The Help Center and countless available YouTube troubleshooting videos made it easy for me to learn Audacity in just one sitting. So I was able to get editing right away.

### "Good basic audio editor"

June 9, 2024

4.0

Pros

Audacity has been reliable for me and and is well laid out. I like the way that It comes with a range of built in effects including noise reduction, auto ducking, EQ filters etc.

Cons

Given that some people want to use audio editors for mastering it would be good if they have a decent loudness maximizer (something like Waves L1). I also think the logo could do with being refreshed it looks like it was designed in 1990.

### "Pro Tool with out the cost"

May 11, 2023

5.0

Overall I have been very satisfied and continue to use the program both on windows and apple platforms.

Pros

Audacity is a free open source pro tool which provides all of the functionality that is present in a paid pro tool. The user friendly gui and the availability of audio effects and functions make Audacity the best tool for audio manipulation and editing.

Cons

The learning curve to learn the basics are a bit steep. The tool could use some of the modern day ux design but for all its limitations, the tool does its job very well which is editing audio.

### "Audacity: Feature-Packed and Highly Capable"

September 18, 2023

5.0

In my experience of around 10+ years of using this software, there's plenty of tools, features and compatibility. It is cross-platform, which means you'll be able to use it on Windows and Linux, for example, and it's Free software!Audacity is great for whoever is beginning their journey in Audio Editing, and it's highly capable for other kind of users as well.Overall I highly recommend this software.

Pros

The compatibility with the different importing and exporting formats. The ease of use, it is simply incredibly easy to begin using and extremely intuitive for professional users. The features, things like being able to view and customize Spectral Views along with viewing the regular Waveform at the same time.Plenty of filters and the ability of importing your own VSTs, LADSPA and LV2 ones.Multi-Track support.

Cons

Importing MIDI is possible but using .mid files is very limited. Perhaps a little customization or a set of features to overlay midi data on top of a waveform for transcription might be useful, although it's not the program's main task.ASIO Support would be nice to have, currently the audio devices are tied to the system. Using input equipment in latency-bound scenarios can be tough for direct monitoring through the software on Windows. On Linux it may be possible to direct monitor, provided that you activate the option and set the proper buffersize.Even more advanced editing features would be welcome, although not strictly necessary. For professional use, to my knowledge there is no surround support. But considering this software is aimed at simple usage, it still provides a lot of features.

### "Basic ma troppo basic"

July 11, 2023

3.0

Pros

E' semplice e intuitivo all'inizio Per fare semplici operazioni di editing è abbastanza intuitivoRegistra bene in modo chiaro e sempliceLa riduzione rumore di fondo è fatta veramente bene e molto efficace

Cons

### "Audacity works well for me."

April 17, 2023

5.0

At first, I was having trouble with another software when it came to converting the mix to an MP3 file. I downloaded the Audacity program and made the MP3 file in a few minutes. While, I was there, I saw other things it could be used for. In particular, the voiceovers. I also found it very helpful when collaborating with other artists.

Pros

Many times, software has a learning curve. (How long it takes to be proficient in what you bought the software for) I found Audacity to be quite easy to learn. The curve, for me was abbreviated.

Cons

I don't have a Con for this. Frankly, for the price, I didn't have a high bar set for it. But Audacity far exceeded my expectations.

Reason for choosing Audacity

I still have and use Cubase. However, when it comes to rapid turn-around to an MP3 format, it is easier for me to transfer the file from Cubase to Audacity for that purpose. When collaborating with other musicians, they may not have Cubase, Samplitude or Cakewalk. They probably will not purchase the program you use, just so they can collaborate with you. With Audacity, the program is free to download. Easy to learn and then all the sudden, everyone in the collaboration is on the same page.

### "Great free product that has a learning curve"

May 21, 2021

4.0

I'm a scriptwriter in the film and TV business, basically writing drama. I do a lot of research for many of the projects I work on. Some of the research is audio research, such as recording radio documentaries relating to subjects I'm working on. These audio recordings are as useful as any written material, and I often share them with directors and producers I'm working with. Once you get the hang of it, which really shouldn't take too long, it's a great, safe program.

Pros

I like to record podcasts, radio dramas, etc. and was recommended this program as a free, good program for that purpose. It's an excellent deal for the money ($0). I know my way around computers but have no real expertise at sound mixing or recording. I use Audacity basically as a recording medium. You can easily set the time length of the recording, press record, start the audio you want to record, and it works completely in the background, shutting itself off when the timer stops. After that you can click file, export (usually to MP3) assign the folder to store the recording and and it will process the audio and there you go. You can also set it to record and stop at a specific time. Audacity will basically record any audio that passes through your speakers and as a bare bones user that's precisely what I use it for. Audacity is a very powerful program and from what I can see can be used by professional or semi-professional sound engineers. It has many functions, 90% of which I never use and would not know how to use. But that's fine. You can use it without any fear of malware, advertising, someone trying to sell you something. And I appreciate that.

Cons

Audacity, as I said, is a complex, powerful program. Even for doing the simple type of recording I do, there is a bit of a learning curve. For instance, after the audio recording has stopped one would logically export it to a folder where it would be saved. But you have to press stop, even if the recording has stopped. Otherwise export will not work. Not a big deal but it took some figuring and looking at the manual and instructional websites to find that out. Audacity saves recordings as projects. I'm still not completely sure what a project is, but when I first began using Audacity I inadvertently saved many projects and found my computer slowing down. A tech support guy found the issue and I erased all the Audacity files that were taking up a lot of memory. Little issues like that. Also, it seems every time I get a new computer and install Audacity, it doesn't work. I end up with a lot of hair pulling getting it working. That's not really Audacity's fault. You have to have the right configuration in Windows audio settings and they're not that easy to figure out. It takes some trial and error, but once you find the right configuration, Audacity works fine. Audacity is free. There's no one to call for tech support. So be prepared to spend a bit of time setting it up and getting it to work. But once it is set up it's great. At least for the simple recording I do.

### "High quality audio capture"

October 13, 2022

3.0

Audacity is a very good app especially for companies like ours where we deal with a lot of audio editing, once it is properly configured and understood how it works it captures high quality audio directly from the built in audio channel, thus eliminates static or background noise often generated by other apps that records from external speakers

Pros

It is one of the best audio capture app as it able to use direct channel audio capturing, the sound is then very clear and without static. Once a sound is captured it can be saved in any of the more popular audio formats. It is a free app and also has a fairly good support community forum where you can get help.

Cons

It also requires the integration of other apps such as Soundflower for direct audio capturing therefore makes it a bit complicated to setup and to understand especially for beginners. Audacity also has to be configured properly to capture the sound from Soundflower. Also the user interface is a bit outdated, more like old school style, also does not have too many functionality. Most people only use it for direct audio capture and not much else

### "My accomplice for excellent audio results"

February 25, 2023

4.0

It is my accomplice to optimize results in the incorporation of voice in my audiovisual work. I use it and continue to use it because it is part of the tools that allow me to present quality work to my customers.

Pros

Work with audiovisual production, I really like the audio quality that is achieved through this application. It is one of my favorite programs to optimize voice edition. It allows you to achieve a very professional sound in my videos and that is what I like most about the program.

Cons

It does not present a very friendly interface, it is rather somewhat sober and somewhat complicated for Nobel users. Whenever I recommend it to people with little experience in this type of programs, they complain that it is a bit complicated to use and recognize their functions. Although they recognize their potential, they have a hard time being able to adapt to their graphic environment. In my case, that I use it regularly, Siegue being somewhat complex when I want to venture to deepen or activate other functionalities other than I usually use. I think you should change your design style and present a friendly interface and with more buttons with icons that facilitate the activation of your most common functions or even that you can be customized, as well as the different options offered by a professional camera, as soon as to configurations that allow us to be personalized at the user's choice.

### "Audacity intimidated me at first; now we're old friends"

March 21, 2023

5.0

With Audacity I'm able to do everything I need to do; manage the timeline, improve the quality of individual clips, equalize if I need more mid-tones, or move out too much bass.

Pros

Most, of course is the price - free. I appreciate that there's a huge amount of community support. You can master the program by watching YouTube videos.

Cons

I personally don't care for the fact you have to select your clip first before you can move it. Select the whole length of the clip you're moving. More drag and drop would be nice.

Reason for choosing Audacity

Frankly because it was free and actively improved by the Audacity team. I like Adobe Audition a lot and it would be my preference if it was free.

### "Audio Editing Software"

November 27, 2022

5.0

Audacity includes countless fundamental sound effects where you could also add various plugins. Preset EQ bends, are a major take away, with an ongoing sneak peak in the effects and features. There is an incredible Bass and High pitch changes as well as high-and low-pass channels. A basic compressor, limiter, phaser, reverb, wahwah and tremolo impacts likewise show up among the choices. Switching sound or shortening quietness takes simply a quite adjustment. There are some features that highlight you to include voiceovers a webcast or radio track. Maybe the best part is that Audacity upholds processes that utilizes a favorable condition when it comes to adjusting the project rate . For instance, you can adjust a progression of audio effects or sounds at the same time without re using similar features again and again.

Pros

Audacity allows you to keep in either 16-digit or 24-bit sound. One of the most desirable characteristics that it can flawlessly change over and consolidate any sounds you haul in, paying little mind to test rate and organizations. Concerning altering, we can recorder, copy, or erase sound, orchestrate various sound effects on a similar track, and alter directly down to a sample level. The featuring functions permits you to add custom with fade in and fade out options also.

Cons

To be honest I don\`t have anything that i don\`t like about Audacity as it has always been my first choice for a pre production of my music and arranging the segments or stems for a fantastic collaboration or pre designed output.

### "Audacity is good for beginners to pros"

March 2, 2022

5.0

When I need to learn songs sometimes the parts are complex. Audacity allows me to record my parts and slow them down to any speed I need to learn them. This made my life so much easier. Certainly there were and are a lot of costly programs that will do the same thing, but as the old saying goes "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Audacity solved my problem of needing something to help me learn my parts and so it as been invaluable!

Pros

For me personally I used it to help me learn my guitar parts for my band. It allowed me to capture audio from several sources and file them. I could then speed up, slow down as need be to learn and practice. Later on when I started to write some material it allowed me to create my own songs with multiple tracks. As I am still a noobie I am in awe of the people who can use Audacity to its fullest. My son writes all the music for his band and Audacity allowed him to write and record all the guitar parts as well as bass and drum tracks, mix and edit them. As well is allows him to write and record stems and store them for future use. He used Audacity for his first 2 cd's and I was amazed!

Cons

To be honest, I am such a beginner that there is nothing for me not to like. Perhaps if I had the time and need to really dive in I might find some things, but that is not the case. So far Audacity is everything I need and could hope for, and you can't beat the price!!

Reason for choosing Audacity

Free and easy baby!

### "Listen, You Have Some Audacity (provided you get Audacity)"

July 23, 2021

4.0

Free apps aren’t always the most user-friendly (just look at all the free graphics programs and compare them to Photoshop for an example), but if they can still work as well as, if not surpass, the premium apps within the same category, then why not use them? For sound design, Audacity is that free app with the irritating UI that monopolizes this space, and if you’re interested in making and improving your own sound files, then you’ll want Audacity in your toolbox. With the ability to establish sound layers, adjust audio frequencies, and create samples, as well as to export the final result into most of the available sound profiles (.WAV, .MP3, .OGG, etc.), Audacity makes sense for any sound designer, musician, game designer, video creator, or anyone in media to have at the ready. And with the ability to label all exported sounds with a profile label (including “artist,” “track,” “album,” etc.), it almost begs the question, “Why pay for an audio production app?” Unless your paid app gives you the ability to turn your voice into a robotic chipmunk, then I don’t know if there’s a good answer for this.

Pros

Besides being free, Audacity comes with so many bells, whistles, and buttons that any competent sound designer will feel right at home. Because it’s open sourced (I think), it’s also adaptable with plugins, which you may want provided you can find some good ones online. And, of course, you can adjust layers and sound profiles, as well as export to your preferred format (provided you have the right codecs for such a thing—Audacity doesn’t come with those). It’s quite versatile.

Cons

If you’re a newbie, then you’ll probably feel lost without going through some online tutorials. Likewise, if you’re not a sound designer by trade, you may not appreciate the power that Audacity brings to the table. (I’m not a sound designer, so I know I’m in over my head at times.) The user-interface can also complicate a simple process like joining two audio clips together. But, again, it’s free, so who’s complaining?

Pros
