### "Solid tool for automated document generation with Airtable and Make"

January 21, 2026

5.0

The overall experience has been very positive. I have used it in several real projects to generate documents from Airtable, integrated with Make, and the results have been consistent and reliable. It is a suitable solution for professional workflows where automated document generation is critical.

Pros

The integration with Airtable and Make is very solid and stable. It allows generating complex Word and PDF documents from related data without issues, preserving formatting and tables correctly. It is a reliable tool for professional use and fits well into automated workflows.

Cons

The pricing can be high when used intensively and when relying on Make as an intermediary. Also, the initial setup may take some time when documents include many relationships or advanced logic.

Switched from

[Make](https://www.capterra.com/p/154278/Integromat/)

Because I needed a more flexible and reliable way to generate complex Word and PDF documents from Airtable with better control over templates, related data, and formatting for professional workflows.

### "Powerful, easy to use, and great support!"

February 4, 2026

5.0

It has been very good. I previously made some templates in DocuMint, and found Plumsail to be MUCH easier to use. It also has more functionality. The thing that originally brought me over to Plumsail was DocuMint's inability to repeat table headers on subsequent pages. It's a breeze with Plumsail. Tech support has been AMAZING, and extremely helpful in figuring out issues I was having. They even had the developers implement new functionality based on some of my requests.

Pros

I love the ability to use Word Docx (or even Excel) as a template. Most of the products I saw only supported Google Docs.

Cons

The automatic token detection is a bit finicky with more complicated scenarios, specifically sorting or filtering tables. It could use a little improvement, like the ability to manually tell it to request a specific token when used in conjunction with the Airtable extension.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Plumsail Documents

Ability to use Word Docx as template instead of Google docs was a very big factor.

Switched from

[Documint](https://www.capterra.com/p/215492/Documint/)

DocuMint can't repeat table headers on subsequent pages. It's also very clunky to use.

### "Very happy with Plumsail"

April 27, 2026

5.0

We started with Plumsail Actions, and it always worked well for us, so testing Plumsail Documents when we have to manage PDF and other files was a given. There is always a component that does what we need to do, great uptime, fair price, and great support.

Pros

It is simple to set up and use, there is a wide selection of tools/actions that is always growing, and it has been working solidly for quite a while.

Cons

I don't think there is anything I do not like about Plumsail Documents or Actions. It is one of our main go-to tools when we need additional actions for no/low-code projects.

Alternatives considered

### "plumsail & me"

October 15, 2024

3.0

Mostly positive. In response to a suggested delivery option I was advised to implement more complex processes and coding with PowerAutomate. I realize not every feature suggestion will be considered or implemented. Please remember that your customers want a low/no code, turnkey solution for their use case.

Pros

I like the functionality to import a custom designed XLS which we are using as the form/document construct. Using the tokens was pretty straightforward and worked well with PowerAutomate

Cons

We had a lot of difficulty with the delivery to Sharepoint. I was told this was more of a global issue and just our account. Either way, the Sharepoint delivery was failing during the testing and demo phase of the project. This undermined Plumsails reliability and the overall feasibility/stability of the internal project and management's approval thereon. While things are working more consistently now, failures (weather outright or processes that run indefinitely) seem to be 'silent' so users aren't necessarily notified of the failure, there is simply a lack of the expected output.

### "Powerful Document Automation for Complex Workflows"

June 27, 2025

5.0

Plumsail Documents has been an essential part of a high-volume document automation solution we built using Power Automate and Azure AI. We extract and process large sets of multi-page PDFs, analyze each page with AI, and use Plumsail to assemble structured Word documents; each section on its own page. The connector is fast, reliable, and incredibly flexible. It has significantly streamlined our workflow and improved document consistency across the board. Highly recommended!

Pros

The connector is incredibly flexible and easy to integrate into complex Power Automate workflows. It supports a wide range of document operations—from generating Word documents from templates to converting and manipulating PDFs—all with excellent reliability.

Cons

The main challenges we’ve encountered are around documentation and the need for clearer guidance when troubleshooting advanced scenarios. Additionally, we found it necessary to introduce delays between actions to ensure document processing completes before moving on to the next file. Better native support for handling asynchronous operations would be a welcome improvement.

Alternatives considered

[Adobe Acrobat](https://www.capterra.com/p/251329/Adobe-Acrobat-DC/)

Reason for choosing Plumsail Documents

We chose Plumsail Documents because it offered a more seamless and flexible integration with Microsoft Power Platform than other solutions. Its native support for DOCX templates, ability to generate structured Word and PDF documents with dynamic content, and the ease of configuring flows in Power Automate made it the best fit for our use case. Unlike Adobe’s offerings, Plumsail required no complex setup, allowed us to work directly with familiar Office-based templates, and scaled well to handle high-volume document processing with minimal friction.

### "Good Platform"

July 30, 2025

4.0

Overall I am ok, because I found what I needed. I dont like when things are too details and when it is hard to find the right things. So that is solved well.

Pros

I found a solution for my problem and it was easy to implement. I do like how simple the site is and that i was able to find all the elements that I needed (API key, Subscription details)

Cons

I think the page looks a bit too simple, almost like it has been a new start up that is still under development. The page could look a bit more sophisticated to gain a bit more professionalism

Alternatives considered

[Microsoft Power BI Connector for Jira](https://www.capterra.com/p/249819/Microsoft-Power-BI-Connector-for-Jira-Cloud/)

Reason for choosing Plumsail Documents

Because I want to have everything in my cloud. But it is very likely that I will stop Plumsail and use PowerAutomate because if I end up paying a lot for subscription for many different services, my budget will explode.

### "Well-priced and effective solution with a few quirks"

April 13, 2026

4.0

I'm happy with the experience. For what it would cost to program a replacement product on my own, this is very cost-effective, and generally easy to navigate.

Pros

Plumsail did exactly what it promised, and I needed - it allowed me to create a new DOCX document with whatever dynamic content I required (HTML, images, text, tables, etc.). Once I figured out how the system worked and got around a couple of quirks, the system worked as defined without issue.

Cons

2 things come to mind: 1) The documentation was a little hard to navigate, especially when looking at differences in capabilities between Modern and Classic template engines. 2) Using the "Edit in Desktop" editor could be finnicky for me - it generally worked great, but seemed to a have a timeout after 5 minutes or so. After that amount of time, my changes from the Desktop editor may or may not save successfully.

### "Airtable Integration Works Great."

August 12, 2024

4.0

Pros

It's integration with Airtable works very well. Works as advertised and is relatively quick to deliver documents to the destination. Also the fact that they provide a script generator for making Interface buttons directly trigger document generation is a huge time saver.

Cons

It can be a little finicky with saving Google Doc templates. Sometimes requiring me to redo work.

### "So far So good"

September 3, 2023

4.0

I was working good for over a year but last week my subscription disappeared and I had a disruption in my document generation (unable to send quotes to clients) when we troubleshoot our system the problem was plumsail. Turns out the subscription disappear I had to register and buy again!! luckily our documents where still there.

Pros

The ability to use our own templates to create branded documents.

Cons

There are some advance document types that are imposible to handle here: we have many indesign templates that we need to convert to power point and it limits image handling, conditional extra pages and so on.

Reason for choosing Plumsail Documents

The easy of integration with other services.

### "Fills a hole in MS Forms"

June 27, 2022

5.0

Overall experience has been a learning one and I'm glad I fought through it. Plumsail fills a need and fills a hole that MS Forms should already have in place (IMHO). I hope this stays in place and I hope to learn more in the future for more automation and simplification to our processes. If I was to have a criticism it would be cost. I understand how much this can do for us, but for a simple single instance to run when needed on form responses, it's a bit much IMHO.

Pros

The ability to auto-fill in prebuilt XL forms and reports with answers to online MS Forms questions, then to work with Power Automate to store them online, and convert them to PDF, and finally to email them to all necessary parties - was great....

Cons

The learning curve was a bit more than I was wanting to deal with. There are videos and such, but a lot of it assumes you know Power Automate already - I was learning both at once... Ultimately got it with trial & error (I think() and it suites our needs great!

Reason for choosing Plumsail Documents

We are moving (as a company) strictly to Office 365 and away from Google Docs. Plumsail was the first and seemed to have the highest user ratings while fitting the bill of what we needed it to do.

### "Great Product, Price restrictive "

May 1, 2024

4.0

Implemented it for 1 company as a trial. all we are doing is merging .pdf documents created by other means (Power Automate, create .pdf from Word Template) For 1 company in the UK with less than 200 documents per month it's perfect. If we go to 1000 that's fine. But we want to try this across the group. US alone want to merge 3000 a month, these are just created .pdf shipping tags into one document. That's very expensive to save Ctrl A, right click, combine in Adobe. So it's really pricing itself out of contention. We must use 2% of the products features, we really need something lighter/cheaper. Hope this helps.

Pros

Ease of use and setup. Support. Ease of use and setup. Support.

The cost when expanding. The cost when expanding. The cost when expanding.
