January 19, 2021 5.0 It's important to our members to have a faceted search. Just being able to find discussions in our online community is valuable. With FUSE we have a more complete picture of what our members are searching for. FUSE also has capabilities that we're not yet taking advantage of that we're talking about using and are on our roadmap. Pros As a small association we're able to invest in a good product that brings in multiple sites and is reasonably priced. The search results are easily customizable. Our members are able to hone in on and group results this way. Beyond the technology, FUSE is a company that is accessible and proactive. We've found that sometimes our online community provider would change a key. FUSE will find that they no longer have access due to this kind of change and will notify us before we even know there's an issue. They also understand what our association does, and they understand our business goals. Cons There's an opportunity to use more analytics. They're releasing a Google Analytics Push this month which should be helpful. CEO Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "FUSE Search Integration " February 24, 2021 5.0 We've been using FUSE Search since February 2020. We had taken on a website redesign project at the same time. One of the big issues on our previous website was we had content in multiple places, and it didn't appear in website searches. FUSE Search has connected multiple channels and provided easier access to content. Pros One of the advantages we found with FUSE is the ability to connect multiple channels in one search function. We have a public website, an online library that hosts all of our education courses and content, and an online community. Before, if someone was searching on the website, they were only accessing information on the website. Now people search and might find a few pages on the website, but they might also find sessions from our conference, articles from a newsletter or journal, a course, etc. The other goal was showing how robust our communities are by offering teaser content and using it as a member recruitment tool. Cons When we set up the search initially, FUSE could have been a little more proactive with offering what kind of filters to apply. It was not clear whose role it was to determine what those filters should be. We have filters there now, but we could probably expand on it more. CEO Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "FUSE Search Integration of Content Housed in Multiple Channels " January 5, 2021 5.0 One of the things that's important for us is to be able to surface and leverage content and products that live on different pieces of AMS and infrastructure. For example, we have an online library where our education lives- so being able to actually surface that content on the website in a manner that people could find and interact with journal articles, magazine articles, etc. Most content resides in places other than the website. Being able to surface that through topic searches or keyword searches was really important to us as a part of a new website. Pros Based on the taxonomy, when looking at results for a given category, a website visitor can see whether the content is from a podcast, the website, a CE article, Community Hub discussions, journal, etc. That is absolutely outstanding that it can be viewed this way. It has afforded us an opportunity that nothing else had previously given how many disparate systems we have content living on. FUSE automatically pulls content as soon as it's added in the online library. I don't have to worry anymore. It's all automatic. Here's what's brilliant- by using FUSE, it allows us to control the content, make sure it is relevant and timely, and that it goes away when it no longer is. Cons The only challenge we had when we launched was that there were hidden files that lived on the website but in a hidden path. For example, the content was behind a paywall. These results showed up in FUSE Search, but they showed up as dead links because they were hidden pages. It wasn't a FUSE issue; it was doing what it was supposed to do. That took a little bit of work from FUSE to figure out how to suppress them and some coordination with the website side. February 5, 2021 5.0 Bringing in other data sources for more relevant and more timely information provides value and is a tremendous customer service. With FUSE Search we are able to have search with our main website (including blog and magazine) and two other separate sites (conference site and online community) and pull all of that together. Pros From our customers' perspective, the best part is the usability. It's easy to find information and easy to use with categories, etc. Internally, it's that FUSE Search is kind of a plug and play application. It works, and we don't really have to do anything to maintain it. The main thing that we like is pulling in discussions from our online community. FUSE's customer service is very responsive. We get questions answered right away, and requests for configuration changes are taken care of right away as well. Cons None. There may be opportunities for us to use the tool better and pull in other sources. The search does exactly what we want it to do. Pros One way we use FUSE Search is with a search tool that accesses members only content that analyzes local state and federal regulations and court cases dealing with employment and labor law. We've produced an average of five of these per week going back prior to 2000 so there are over 6000 of these memos. FUSE searches the metadata in iMIS hosted tables and content in pdf and html documents. Other publicly available documents (notices, briefs, comments/testimonies) also live in this same database. FUSE makes it usable and customizable for those doing research through our website. We also provide data services that include college graduate data, workforce demographic data and an interactive map where users can search and find state laws that are applicable to them. We talked with our website vendor, and they recommended FUSE. We checked it out and have now been using FUSE Search for about a year. Previously we didn't have the flexibility to customize anything. Pros We've been able to work with the search to make certain items appear in search results so that we have more current and relevant information coming up in our search. We've been focusing more on dates- the date that we published it or the date that a page is re-published or a specific date field that we've set in the item. We've also been able to add our topics and display our taxonomy to show off our tags, and those are linked to search. In addition to our website, we're now pulling from our LMS and our blog. The LMS includes all of our learning: webinars, courses, and conference recordings and handouts. Cons It's been a learning process from when we launched. We review the results and look to improve them. We had some date issues at the very beginning, but FUSE has been really great at helping it improve. Our organization had missing information- fields that weren't filled in- so we had to do some data cleanup on the back-end. It's a living process, and we'll find better ways to utilize the search. January 7, 2021 5.0 Our website users can now drill down to the level of detail they want. The keyword search really goes into the content, and what FUSE looks at is broader. Filters can be used to look at state, year, type of content (study, practitioner article, legislation, forum topic, etc.), etc. It's a different experience for site users, and the results are accurate.
