Nova RIS Reviews
Pros
The customer service is fantastic they are always helpful whenever we have an issue and are fast at getting it resolved.
Tech support has been very helpful and resolved some minor glitches. The features and functionality are good and with time they will get better to become great.
Nova RIS also has been very helpful in report running with the ability to see physicians ordering usage. As a Director its nice to be able to see who is ordering what and who is not order as much.
Cons
We also had communication/support problems between Utah-based corporate Novarad and the Georgia-based Novarad South.
For example, report distribution was a difficult task back in the day, but with the auto-fax feature the immediate dissemination of reports is a now "set it and forget it" function.
Lastly, the report distribution tab doesn’t display patient name, which makes it tricky to know what report belongs to who.

"NovaRIS"
Overall: NovaRIS is very easy to use. For example, report distribution was a difficult task back in the day, but with the auto-fax feature the immediate dissemination of reports is a now "set it and forget it" function.
Pros: Very user-friendly. NovaRIS was installed many years ago and has assisted our facility with patient scheduling and report sharing, although there's more functionality available, if needed. The web image viewer allows physicians to access imaging media on desktop or mobile devices which is also very user friendly. Overall, a great product!
Cons: We have no current complaints about NovaRIS.

"Nova Pacs Review for a smaller hospital"
Overall: I have used Nova RIS for over 8 years, and we rarely have any issues with the system. The RIS system is easy to use and learn even if you are a brand-new technologist and have never used any PACS OR RIS system before. The customer service is fantastic they are always helpful whenever we have an issue and are fast at getting it resolved.
Pros: Nova RIS is very easy to use and also to learn. I have trained many other technologists to use it and they all say how it is a lot easier to use then other systems they have used prior. Then radiologist also really like the system and we hardly ever have any problems.
Cons: The one thing that I wish could be a little different would be that when we have a study the description goes in one place but there is another place that it needs to be so that the description will show up on the patients report so we always have to copy and paste the description. Sometimes that is time consuming when you have a patient with multiple exams.
"Long time user of NovaPACS and NovaRIS. It has served us well for our smaller rural hospitals."
Overall: NovaPACS/NovaRIS have served us well for about 16 years. The software needs maintenance and bug removal but their support is second to none.
Pros: The image caching is implemented better than any competitive product that we have tested.
Cons: The stability of NovaPACS/NovaRIS is not at the level of the other PACS system we use(McKesson/Change). We also had communication/support problems between Utah-based corporate Novarad and the Georgia-based Novarad South.

Pros: Nova RIS is great for managing a schedule and report distribution. The management reports are helpful for monthly results. Customer service is fantastic. They have always been quick to respond and resolve any issues.
Cons: There are a few features that can be improved. For example, the eForms feature allows patients to leave important fields blank and still submit the form. The color code management also doesn’t save new colors selected. Lastly, the report distribution tab doesn’t display patient name, which makes it tricky to know what report belongs to who.

"Easy to Use & Good value for Costs"
Overall: Overall Nova RIS has helped make sure our billing lines up with exams when submitted to insurances. Nova RIS also has been very helpful in report running with the ability to see physicians ordering usage. As a Director its nice to be able to see who is ordering what and who is not order as much. These reports enable me to speak to my providers to make sure we are providing for their imaging needs or if I need to address any issues for them.
Pros: Nova RIS is very user friendly and offers a good range of adaptability. The System can be used for scheduling purposes as well for your imaging department. The System works really good with our HIM system.
Cons: The one thing that I wish the software offered was the ability to remove physicians as need be. We have several physicians that have long retired, but the Nova RIS System will not let you remove any physician.

Pros: Although we do not use NovaRIS as our ordering and billing system, NovaRIS helped me troubleshoot orders: merging studies and reconciling reports, troubleshoot HL7 issues using the event and audit logs in the admin console, and create various management reports.
Cons: I would like the ability to manage and customize changes to the physician database. Right now, if I wanted to change the reporting distribution for all physicians, I need to go to each to make the modification.

Overall: Very positive. The RIS is easy to use, serves our needs with the scheduler and modality worklist connection to our various modalities
Pros: Ease of use. Easy to generate CPT activity reports. HL7 connection to EMR and modality worklist connection to various rooms allows for seamless transfer of patient demographics and reports.
Cons: Nothing noteworthy to mention here. It lacks some advanced reporting capabilities.
