## What is IIS Inspector?

IIS Inspector is built for the average IT professional in charge of hosting web sites on one or more Microsoft IIS Web Servers. IIS Inspector is a Web Request Analyzer, much like a log parser, but without requiring log files generated by IIS. IIS Inspector uses ETW to capture web request information from your servers. This gives you a level of insight you will not find with common log parsers.

Once installed, it gives great visibility on systems that otherwise may not be obvious.

Pros

When you have a web app, knowing more than just errors, and the volume of requests, but knowing the times and types of events that lead to high latency requests, that often have cascading effects on the rest of the system is very important.

Cons

It was difficult to install, it could have been easier.

Reasons for choosing IIS Inspector

We also considered developing a similar tool in-house, but it would have taken too long.
