"Not good for construction companies doing government work"

**Overall:** Not worth it. SO many features needed for a construction company that they are in no way ready for. No one on WorkYard staff seems to understand prevailing wages and the need for documentation; too cumbersome for employees so compliance was low. Overall - it may be good for a small construction company that does only residential jobs and minimal job costing needs(?)

**Pros:** Able to see where employees are in real time as long as there is signal availability.

**Cons:** Only 3 pay categories allowed (we do prevailing wages and need much more than 3!); notes do not transfer to Quickbooks; time consuming to set up for multiple crews on multiple sites; employees complain of drain on phone batteries; tracks employees location even when clocked out which EEs felt was a violation of privacy; sells data to third party; if you buy for a year there are NO refunds - so make sure you really like it before this purchase or start with monthly billing; staff had difficult time changing cost codes mid project which is critical for assessing profitability of job; no ability for vacation/sick/holiday input by employees; the above weaknesses unfortunately made for double entry of information so it did not save time or money from the perspective of the administration.

**Alternatives Considered:** [QuickBooks Time](https://www.capterra.com/p/151722/TSheets/)

**Reasons for Choosing Workyard:** Slightly less in price and it seemed that there was some staff familiarity of construction - just not prevailing wages

**Switched From:** [Google Forms](https://www.capterra.com/p/176571/Google-Forms/)

**Reasons for Switching to Workyard:** We were trying to save office staff time and cost

"Don’t get swindled- just use Quickbooks time"

**Overall:** We signed up in good faith to try this company’s software. We are a GC in business 30 yrs and wanted features they offered. After sales calls we thought this software would fit our company. They convinced us to prepay for an “annual subscription” up front and promised a 30 day money back guarantee. 9/15/2024 \[sensitive content hidden\] was helpful, he quoted $3032 (a discount) for 12 users annually (we had to add 1 more user as they require a non functioning user subscription just for admin). We purchase believing the software would work but feeling assured we could cancel, and surely would not be charged for a full year!!! Our onboarding was 9/24/24 (I would assume this is the beginning of us “using the software”) but they might use the purchase date even though we had no idea how to use it. During this period after 9/24 I notified the company via their online chat support (speaking with \[sensitive content hidden\]) that the features didn’t meet our requirements and that we wanted to cancel. \[sensitive content hidden\] confirmed this via email, by stating my request to cancel a “few weeks” before. This email was on 10/14 to \[sensitive content hidden\] which confirmed our wishes to cancel his email to me, \[sensitive content hidden\] and \[sensitive content hidden\]. He included a cancellation form which I explained I didn’t see at first, then filled it out 11/1/24. \[sensitive content hidden\] now states they are not obligated to refund our money because we didn’t cancel within the 30 day window. As you can see it was within this 30 day period and I notified them our desire to cancel within that time— they are hiding behind the use of a form when 3 employees included in the email knew of our request to weeks before 10/14.

**Pros:** App was nice Initial sales call was helpful Features very similar to many other time clocking apps.

**Cons:** Could not deliver on technology they sold us. Mileage and gps tracking was so inaccurate it was unusable. No way to manage paid/unpaid breaks. Leading to us needing to spend more time fixing time cards. No way to export job notes to quick books… this is critical when it comes to billing. Lied to us about cancellation. We canceled in October a few weeks after signing up… and still almost 4 months later they still hadn’t refunded us and then \[sensitive content hidden\] the “Customer Success rep” told me they made a mistake but also “We do not give partial credits or refunds for annual subscriptions, per the terms and conditions you agreed to when signing up.” And then claimed “we are not obligated to give any refund as stated in our terms that you agreed to when you paid for the software.” Don’t support this company they are simply bad at actually taking care of customers, and then hide and lie and will keep your money.

**Alternatives Considered:** [QuickBooks Time](https://www.capterra.com/p/151722/TSheets/)

**Reasons for Choosing Workyard:** I didn’t - we ended up cancelling because it didn’t meet the requirements we needed.
