The software is reliable for some of our day-to-day needs, and the support team is responsive and helpful whenever issues arise. Although we have found some of the more advanced features difficult to learn and implement, Author-it continues to play a valuable role in our documentation processes. Pros We have used Author-it for over 20 years and it continues to provide value through content reuse and multi-channel publishing. The software is reliable for some of our day-to-day needs, and the support team is responsive and helpful whenever issues arise. While there is a learning curve for some of the more advanced features, Author-it remains an important part of our documentation process. Cons We struggle with the complexity of configuring and implementing some of the more advanced features. There is a steep learning curve, particularly for users who are not highly technical. While the Knowledge Centre contains a lot of information, it is primarily text-based, and there is a lack of readily available videos, visual guides, and step-by-step training resources for setting up more complex functions. As a result, it can be difficult to become self-sufficient without relying on Support, and after many years of using Author-it, I still feel we are not using the software to its full potential. My company moved on to another tool to focus more on DITA, but the ease of use in AuthorIT is sorely missed. It is very easy to create content, edit it, and then publish it on-line or to Word or PDF format. Cons The only con to this software was the antiquated, clunky UI.
