### "Very happy we are using Condens!"

November 17, 2023

5.0

Love it. Really happy with the people from Condens that I have interacted with. Feedback is taken seriously – the \[sensitive content hidden\] even directly addressed a small bug I found. It feels good working with a tool that has people on the other side of it.

Pros

Condens does not feel feature-bloated like some other research repository tools. Overall it's pretty intuitive and building reports and putting data synthesis together happens quickly. It's easy to pull data from different projects and include it in a single artifact. Setup was easy and smooth, and the team is communicative, helpful, and kind. The cost fit much more in line with what our small team can handle, and they took our requirements for privacy and security very seriously.

Cons

I am still adjusting to the UI a bit. Our team is coming from a different, more expensive research repository tool that was much brighter and colorful – a bit more modern, visually. Once we saw what Condens could do for us, it was worth moving away from 'pretty' to get 'useful'.

Reason for choosing Condens

We chose Condens because they offered a lower cost, seat license minimums were more in line with our team size (no wasted seats to hit a minimum), privacy concerns were taken seriously, available features are exactly what our small team needs, and everyone has been very nice to work with.

Dovetail was too cost-prohibitive for our small team. They charge a large premium for privacy features that are requirements for our business and offered a lot of features that my team didn't need to use for lean approach to research.

### "Must Have for User Interviews"

August 19, 2024

5.0

We introduced Condens 9 months ago and everyone is really happy with this tool. We mainly use it to analyze data from user sessions and notice how much more efficient (and fun) our work is.

Pros

Intuitive interface, regular updates and further developments, helpful capabilities to streamline evaluation of qualitative data. Best of all: Being able to share quotes and insights with stakeholders in an interesting way.

Cons

Faulty automatic transcription - still better than transcription capabilities from MS Teams though. Cumbersome to maintain and manage for agencies with different clients: The workspaces are great, but difficult to manage consistently.

### "Intuitive workflow for UX research"

August 23, 2024

5.0

I've been using Condens for a few weeks now and am really impressed with how well-thought out it is. Most actions are completely intuitive in terms of coding. When I've been in doubt, before I check the user manual (which is also excellently written), I just try what I think would work and so far I have not been disappointed in that working. I've yet to deliver a report with Condens yet, but I have been playing with building one out, and I think it will fit perfectly into how my team works. I look forward to getting to know the tool more fully.

Pros

ease of use, layout, interface, customizability, integration into a standard research workflow, excellent report generation

Cons

I haven't really found much that I don't like. For what I need, it fits into my workflow pretty perfectly

### "A game changer for qualitative UX research"

August 24, 2023

5.0

We are using Condens to analyze our research interviews more quickly and collaboratively and to build a research repository that our UX team can refer to when designing for end users in various types of roles/personas.

Pros

Condens was truly a game changer for our in-house UX team, allowing us a central location to collaborate on qualitative research that is not only functional but also a joy to use. Automated transcripts tied to the actual videos of our interview sessions that we can easily search, tag and filter makes it incredibly easy to collaboratively identify important themes and to pull quotes and video highlights to incorporate into presentations for stakeholders. On top of all this, the Condens interface is clean and beautiful and has made research a lot more fun.

Cons

The main thing that I would love to see is more functionality dedicated to creating sleek video highlights reels of feedback from users (these videos are super valuable for persuading stakeholders). While I definitely don't expect Condens to become a full video editing program, some simple editing features would be very valuable. For example, I would love to be able to easily adjust the portion of a tagged quote that makes it into a video highlights reel (without having to work around by creating new tags). It'd also be super helpful to be able to crop the video (for example to show just the participant and exclude the interviewer from the image). Bonus would be to able to add some basic text overlays or at least a title screen to describe the video. Essentially, I would love to take advantage of the link between text transcripts and session videos to quickly make sleeker highlights videos than what is possible now in Condens without having to export and work in another piece of software like Premiere. In fact, the ability to quickly amass video clips from highlighted portions of transcripts was probably the main killer feature that drew me to Condens in the first place.

Reason for choosing Condens

As I mentioned above, the killer feature that initially caught my attention was the link between transcripts and videos that enables easily collecting video clips from highlighted text (something that I had imagined someone had to have created and finally found Condens after digging around). It was also the sleekest looking interface, and the website was informative and clear and made it look very appealing. Finally, the customer support has been stellar from the very beginning of trialing the software to now using it steadily with my whole team, always quick and very thorough.

### "The perfect tool for qualitative analysis for UX designers."

November 18, 2023

5.0

Pros

Quality of transcription and ease of use. A tool that doesn't want to do everything and does just about what we need it to do – help with the analysis of my in-depth interviews and usability tests.

Cons

Condens does not integrate with Lookback.com – which is not their fault when Lookback does not expose an API to get the recordings. They recently dropped the per-project pricing and only have standard subscriptions.

Reason for choosing Condens

Ease of use / efficiency – the main tasks in Condens are VERY designed and that makes a big difference with regards to the ease of use and speed with which you'll get to the results. Cost – you can invite people who will just view the results for free.

### "It's a great tool to have under your belt. "

January 18, 2024

5.0

Pros

Condens is very easy to learn and master. It didn't require a lot of time to set up. Once it's set up, there is a little bit of effort you must put in to have a consistent taxonomy in global tags or project-based tags. But the whole user flow and fluency of using this product is well-thought.

Cons

The transcriptions are good if there is only one language speaking, but for international companies with diverse user base, it becomes a bit of a headache at some point to correct the transcriptions that have foreign words mentioned (that were outside of the transcription language). However, the transcription is usually spot on in identifying the different people speaking and the words themselves. I also would like to see more webinars with tips, tricks, etc. from Condens tailored to their users. A great one would be building the infrastructure for a research repository.

### "Condens as a facilitator for learning User Research in University environment"

January 22, 2024

5.0

Wonderful! The perfect learning tool for design students freshman to get in touch with User Research!

Pros

Quick and easy setup Comprehensive UX and Ui Transparent use of data and language AI Joy of use with visual storytelling Export of artifacts in reports Shows students how to work with qualitative data and learn on the way how to assess database for Design Research Gives basic understanding of Grounded Theory in practice

Cons

If any: Onboarding of new users and teams could be also available in bulk. Permissions maybe a little more transparent (I tried to show students examples from other workspaces, which was in this case too complicated).

Reason for choosing Condens

A recommendation from a collegue in the industry.
