What is Flying Donut?

Flying Donut is a powerful, simple, effective, Scrum and Kanban tool, set out, from the start, to be a real-time agile collaboration tool, to allow transparency and communication across distributed, remote or co-located teams. Simplicity is the core idea underlying the design of Flying Donut, allowing teams to be agile and not just practice agile. It goes back to the basics of agile, with a real-time interface that makes collaboration so fluid, effortlessly.

Easy edit with inline editing in the kanban board (available in Scrumban and Kanban projects).
Easy edit with inline editing in the kanban board (available in Scrumban and Kanban projects).
There are cases where you don't want or need a modern kanban board to run sprints in. In simple scrum, you do prioritize your cards vertically, but you only move the tasks of a card in the task board.
View your sprints in a timeline. It makes it easy to compare and go thought your past and future sprints
Open the backlog and drag available backlog cards to the board or vice versa.
Change the project board type to the one that fits your needs.

Pros

  • It is easy to use, nice aesthetics, great customer support.

  • Super cool!!!! Backlogs and sprints are where it is at for our team and FLYING donut and their API make it super easy to track issues and integrate.

  • Flying Donut is super-fast & user friendly PM tool which save time and money. Further more the user interface too attractive and simply create task, edit, delete, assign.

Cons

  • I find it hard to find a negative in our experience using Flying Donut, despite using it practically all day, every day.

  • The No1 tool our team uses to ship features faster. A foundation of our development & collaboration.

  • I tend to rely on my own notes and initiative to get tasks done and stopped using FlyingDonut.

Thank you for taking the time to provide valuable feedback. From the early days of Flying Donut we have been trying to come up with an easier way of working with the backlog, and we feel rewarded when users recognize this with their feedback. Regarding the navigation, which feels a little hard to navigate at times, we would be interested in hearing more from you. Feel free to send us your comments and suggestions directly.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts on Flying Donut and for choosing us to power up your team. We're delighted to hear that you find Flying Donut easy to use, especially considering your experience with project management techniques. Your positive feedback about the software's user-friendly setup for new projects is encouraging, and we're glad to be a part of streamlining your project management processes. Regarding your concern about moving cards from the backlog to the sprints in the free plan, we'd like to provide some clarification. In the free version of Flying Donut, users can move cards from the backlog to the sprints via the planning view (just click plan or sprint planning in the board). We understand the importance of flexibility in project management, even in our free plan, and we strive to offer valuable features to all users. If you have any further questions or if there's anything else we can assist you with, please feel free to reach out.

"A Great Interface"

Overall: Awesome! I'm using it both in a class I'm teaching and to manage the contents FOR the class I'm teaching. I'm also using it for game development and novel-writing! It is as flexible as it should be for small to mid-size projects and I hope to test it on larger scale projects in the near future.

Pros: I love the interface. It's simple and clean. It allows you to get started quickly - especially for simple, straightforward projects. You can add a lot of specifics, but you don't have to in order to get started - that truly embodies the spirit of Agile. The Scrumban boards are great, the Backlog Buckets are simple to create and get started adding cards to them.

Cons: There are a few things about the way you do Sprint Management (i.e., moving cards to and from the backlog into the Sprint Kanban or Scrumban Boards) that could be improved. For a start, you have to go into the Sprints section, up to a 3 elipses button on the top corner and click on "Sprint Planning" to get to the interface ... it's a bit too tucked away for my liking as moving cards back and forth from the backlog is an important part of planning and sprint review. Also, it would be nice to have planned and actual points or time to help you a little more with review.

Reasons for Switching to Flying Donut: I found this interface to be much simpler to get started and to start my students (who are new to Agile and Scrum).

Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing how you are using our product in multiple ways. We are thrilled to hear that it is meeting your needs and is flexible enough for a variety of projects. We are always working to improve and make our product even more versatile, so we look forward to hearing about your experience using it on larger scale projects in the future. We also take note of your concerns on the usability of the planning and review process. We will definitely take your suggestions into consideration and work on making the interface more accessible and user-friendly. We also agree that having planned and actual points or time would be beneficial for the reviews and we'll consider adding that feature as well. Thank you for your support.

"The No1 tool our team uses to ship features faster. A foundation of our development & collaboration."

Pros: I rarely write reviews, but Flying Donut is such a key to our work that I'd like to share my thoughts with fellow software development & product teams. Using Flying Donut has been integral for keeping focus on the right things, enabling our growing team to ship features faster. In a nutshell: - The simple and intuitive interface allows us to always be on top of our work, at a glance. - It's comprehensive, fast and all-encompassing. Flying Donut allows our dispersed team collaborate with maximum efficiency. The powerful integrations allow us to use it as a single point of reference for navigating our code and build on existing work, when developing new features - It offers straight forward Kanban planning and drag & drop UI, which allows us to set priorities in seconds - I love the clarity Flying Donut brings to our team's work. We are build a fast growing platform and continuously onboard new team members, working in multiple locations; using Flying Donut has been key getting them up to speed and bring clarity and efficiency to our sprint planning and daily work.

Cons: We found it super easy to integrate with our existing tools and the chat support has been instant and exceptional. I find it hard to find a negative in our experience using Flying Donut, despite using it practically all day, every day.
