Pros The built-in Writeback functionality and tight integration with the Microsoft Power BI platform enabled us to deliver a full Planning/Budgeting/Forecasting solution to our Users in weeks instead of months. Cons There are a few quirks and gotchas with using the Writeback to the Cube. Even after we thought we'd figured out all the details, they seem to come back to haunt us periodically. I am still astonished by its affordability. Pros The use case (for us) was very QB specific, but we were not able to resolve this with any other tool without a bunch of custom modeling. Acterys offers an incredibly easy and affordable solution. Cons No endpoint for refreshing datasets (that I'm aware of); also, PKs seem to be regenerated with each refresh, which can be a pain. Can be also setup OnPrem, which was one of our requirments. Extremely fast, performant write-back engine. Pros It took us literally only one day to implement an integrated financial planning model (PL, BS, CF) based on our existing Power BI reports. Fully parameterized simulation, budgeting, and rolling forecast. We could easily leverage from exisiting demo templates Acterys is packaged with. We could easily enhance our initial planning model to any further xP&A planning requirements by adding and connecting additional planning cubes. Cons Acterys provides really an overwhelming set of features, which could be challenging for beginners. But there's a great support team and the help file/Wiki with best practice samples and templates finally helping in any such situation. I have worked with other solutions, as soon as you get into data integration or transactional data, you start to reach the limits the system too quickly. The level of automation and flexibility is unparalleled. Beautiful Power BI templates with pre-baked financial intelligence, with the ability to build custom reports from scratch ... if you have either a planning, reporting, financial consolidation Or BI requirement and you use Excel and or Power BI, this is an absolute must Cons Great customer experience. The resource library (wiki Page) is content rich and updated regularly. The solution integrates beautifully with Power BI and Excel. The right back functionality is an absolute game changer. After engaging with this product, you get the feeling that there is a very competent team behind this product, one that has a great understanding not only how to build a great product, but how to scale it without compromising on performance. Well done to everyone involved. Incredible work. Pros Incredible performance backed by best in the business technology like MS Azure SQL Server. There is a great set of features built into this product. The ability to add additional cubes and right back functionality is fantastic. Its easy to implement and to built beautiful reports in a day. Complicated DAX measures...it all done for you. Very impressed. Cons There is really a lot of features and it can be overwhelming if you do not know where to start. Once you learn to navigate the wiki page, it really does get a lot less overwhelming. Never to much of a hassle to resolve my demanding issues and questions. Pros Writeback functionality from Power Bi is amazing. We have one source of the truth and no more excel workbooks with links all over the place. No version difference. Easy to integrate and use once over the learning curve. Cons My only negative, and i understand now that its a feature of the product. Its not intended to be a replacement of an ERP system or database, so is limited once the cube becomes too large. Reason for choosing Acterys As mentioned above i didn't know of any alternatives. I do now, but believe that Agility with its local support and keen pricing is the best decision we could of made. Pros Integration between ease to use tools like Excel and Power BI, so the user can use common financial tools and create stunning reports for Planning, Financial and Budgeting and control daily basis operation, with a great write back to a consistent model as a backend system. The integration with Financial systems like ABC, QuickBooks Online, and Xerox is a good tool. Cons Some financial basic knowledge that the user need as a pre requisite. In one place to both see a sales report and to plan future sales. It is possible to install the system both or to use as a SAAS solution. Hybrid solutions are also possible. Cons In our particular case, implementing the solution required serious customisation, including tons of SQL code. But the Acterys specialists handled it successfully.
