My clients and contractors are somewhat impressed with the results. Pros I was basically trained on this program, it gives me everything required to professionally do my job. It is easy to use and the customer support is invaluable and user friendly. Cons The color properties, adjustments in perspective. Also the cloud viewer is not a seamlessly operating part. I probably need more instruction on loading in usable catalogs-but haven’t made the time. Review Source JS Jon S. It's easy to use and the end reports look great. I love the cloud imports for adding character and the ability to import our own textures, countertop, flooring and artwork. You can make a design very personalized. Cons The Annotations - Running Line drawing Feature will not let you draw 3D countertops. This would save so much time when doing raised bat wings and odd configurations. The only options it allows is moldings and soffits. I believe years ago - there was a running line "countertop" option and then it was taken away. Now I have to use a rectangle and modify it by adding points and moving them - then adjusting multiple times to get the shape wanted. This takes way too long to be useful. Review Source JM Jason M. I enjoy the learning pattern, there is something to learn everyday. Pros I am able to close more jobs based on what the software can show in it's rendering module. I have been investing in myself to learn the product, and stretch myself to achieve new skills and techniques. The system definitely is one of the better ones to work with out there. Pros Being able to show clients what a finished room will look like. Being able to give contractors floor plans and elevations with dimensions on them. More up to date appliances. Cons How often it tends to crash even when using it on a gaming computer that can handle the program. That sketch-up tends to make it run slower and causes crashes. You can not fully rotate items that show up on their side or upside down from sketch up so being able to turn them over would be helpful. More items need to be added to the decorative items tab, add more options for flooring and tile finishes, lighting fixtures, etc that are in sketch up that should be incorporated. March 28, 2023 5.0 2020 has offered a comprehensive design tool, with innovative design that has expanded with its competition. Pros 2020 is user friendly, and if there are issues with any functionality, there is usually a training demonstration for questions built right into the system. If there is not a tutorial available there is live chat and direct assistance available with a phone call. 2020 is a comprehensive tool for not only design but also for projection the finished product to the customer. Cons It has gotten better, but the system is prone to crashing or glitches in designs. I have also lost designs when updates have come out on the programing. Pros It generates quotes quickly & creates basic 3DS.If you have the time and an advanced PC it can generate realistic renderings Cons It crashes A LOT! You have to be a compulsive saver. It also takes a lot of hours to create a realistic rendering and the more details you add to make it look good the slower the drawing becomes, causing more crashes. Owner Design Used the software for: 2+ years ### "An Over Priced Monopoly" December 7, 2023 3.0 Pros I liked the pricing features for cabinet brands that are integrated with 2020. Cons Customer service had not been good. Have lost whole designs due to unknown errors and had to start all over. Originally this software was a one time purchase for thousands of dollars plus a yearly customer service fee. That was already a stretch because I never would use customer service due to extended hold times and inability to fix my issue. Then they switched to a subscription based model and my key fob was canceled that I had paid for. It's now cost prohibitive. It also crashes often and has many quirks. Reason for choosing Design Flex I only ever used 2020 because the cabinet lines I sold at the time were built around it. 2020 has a monopoly on the market as the big major brands are integrated with them to price and order. Based on the level of information it provides WHILE ALSO having an easy to use platform. This is my software of choice to train my team on. Cons There is a bit of a learning curve once you want to create more realistic renderings. They produce a nice final image, but as part of the sales process can take took much time away from the designers. Please incorporate a better automatic lighting system. We HAVE to add extra lights in order to brighten up renderings enough to show client the "texture." Pros Love the rendering look for clients. Big help giving them the feeling they are standing in the kitchen. Cons Slow rendering and lots of errors that go along with the rendering always causing it to shut down. Using Live accessories bog down the software which renders it worthless to use. March 28, 2023 5.0 Pros The thing that I love most about the program is that it's relatively easy to use. If you're new to the program or a pro, there is an option for either of your levels. I also really like the customer service that Design 2020 provides, anytime there is something wrong I can call and get the issue figured out. Cons Some of the things that I like the least is how limited it is. You pay so much money to look for an item like a tissue box, even then, in the 3D rendering it's not promised to be shown. I understand that some of this is easily taught, but the fact that you have to sit there and figure things out when it should be easy is what gets me. Review Source PA Patrice A. I also design faster with it than by hand. Pros It is easy to use. Renders perspectives and elevations quickly. Can take measurements as finely as I choose to enter. And great tech support with use and my many questions. Also, great customer service when I set up the license. Cons There are a few features it doesn't do, like measure the distance between 2 points. Just ridiculous Pros It’s easy to learn. Able to install my cabinet manufacturer catalogs. Cons The cost is just ridiculous. Almost $2k per license and I don’t even use all of the features. Pros The ability to create 3D renderings to show the clients what they will receive at the end of the day. The colour renderings are also a benefit. Cons The most frustrating software I use for work. I unfortunately have to use this almost daily for designing cabinetry, and ordering. When I first started working for the company I currently do, they had me working off a version that is 6+ years old, and earlier this year we purchased the updated/live version, expecting the horrible, very obvious, bugs to be fixed, only to find out they have not been. While scrolling through lengthy lists of mods for cabinets, it will jump back to the top when you try to select something, it is extremely slow (I also run CAD programs that are twice as large, and they are way quicker than 2020, even in the 3D views), and finally, the most annoying issue is sometimes when you press the "undo" button, it will revert your whole design back to the back-up file (which does not back-up as often as you set it to as well) and there will be times when you hit the undo button to only find you have just lost over an hour's worth of work. Talk about frustrating. If you're looking for a design software, do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere. Review Source BO Bethany O. Kidding aside, this program is great for the new designers coming into this career, but again, updating is crucial. Pros Live Order is wonderful! Saves time and accurate. Cons Ok. I've been designing for over 30 years. I would love to see 20/20 get up-to-date with their cloud products, specifically furniture, seating, mirrors, lights, etc... Also, the cloud is difficult to find your items quickly. It would be great for 20/20 to incorporate the brand names of countertops, so we don't have to create the colors when we are designing (specifically granite & quartz). It'd be nice if the design of the software was a bit more sleek and if it were overall a bit more intuitive. ie, modifying cabinets could be more intuitive like chief architect. Material textures could be much better from 2020. Pros I find the ease of use for 2020 Design Live it's strongest feature since I use 2020 Design Live 9 hours a day. The ease of use makes my job easier and that means I can produce designs at a quicker pace. Cons The only thing that really holds me back on 2020 Design Live is it's quirky bugs that once you learn what they are you can work around them by not performing the things that make it act up.
