Pros I like to render quickly and they are decent Cons The cloud items are clunky and slow the program down. I prefer to use catalogs on my local browser and be able to edit them the way I want. Like the old "underground catalog". Can edit, change colors, textures etc on decor. Also, implementing sketchup items shouldn't make it crash. I have to use another program to implement for presentations, like Canva. The ability to create accurate quotes directly through the program is essential. Creating 3D colored renderings are an integral part of our process. Cons Adjusting the light effects when creating colored renderings can be very tedious. It's difficult to find the lighting balance that will show the cabinetry colors properly. They promised my paid license would migrate to design live with the same cost as support, paid for support for over 20 years, 3 short years later my per license fee went from $640 to $740 to $739 to $1895 per user. I would not trust them. they have a lock on the industry but are a very non- reputable firm. I would not be surprised if there are many users who were cheated by 2020. Pros Easy to move over as we have over 20 years with them. Cons Glitchy, expensive, fairly long wait for support Reason for choosing Design Flex easy transition , we were familiar with it. The SketchUp imports, cloud catalogs' are a great and time tracker are also great new features. I've been using this software since early 2000's and have been impressed with most of the improvements and added features over the years. Having a monthly payment plan for a license would be a nice option. Pros Much easier to use and streamlined from over the years Cons The rendering and lighting; the drawing layout tools to print; tile block etc. Too may repetitive clicks to get to the same thing. " March 19, 2026 4.0 I have found the service to be okay when I do get someone on the phone. It was marginally improving over the last couple of years. My biggest concern was price. And having to pay for add ons when this is just a rented software. I also decided to branch out more into interiors and there for purched and yes steep learning curve but went with Sketchup. The full studio peice was $1200.00 in comparison with $2700 with a promo rate of the essentials to go with it. I was disappointed that the peogram was getting throttled and i only got basic packs for $2500 a year. I could not even download my favorite underground catalouge without having to pay the full premiumn price. and this is a rental not an OWED program and thats yearly. So just way to much to absorb for one person. I was a user on an off for 30+ years. I started with version 3.1 Pros That it is indicitave to the Kitchen design industry. That i could get a job easily because i was well versed in the program.I did like the 360 element Cons Price and service. Price exhorbant for basic plan. Service improved marginally over the years. Pros I have worked in 2020 Design for over 8 years before switching to Design Live last year. Overall, I feel your product continues to improve. Cons I would like your items to be improved on... sinks, dishwashers, etc. I feel they are out of date.
