With SEO results taking days to weeks to months to show potential progress either positive or negative the content score that is displayed and changed in real-time as you add keywords or headers that it believes will help you rank better. Seeing that green score is an immediate reward that helps me keep going. Cons The cost is slightly high for an individual like myself who runs a small blog that doesn't even earn anywhere near the $59 subscription fee. It has been helpful in terms of competitor research and analysing relevant entities to include in our content. To date, I would say their content editor tool is the best in the market. Cons The one thing that I don't like about Surfer right now is that you're only limited to a static analysis. if they could find a way to compare analyses dynamically for new suggestions based on a change in the SERP, then that'd be certainly cool. Your competitors wrote more content with more relevant keywords? Well, you know how many words and what keywords to add to your page. I also like the fact that the software keeps evolving to the user's demands. Surfer started as a basic on-page tool which then added content planner, content editor, keyword research, etc. The interface is also easy to understand and looks beautiful. Kudos to the team who can translate complex stuff like SEO into a much simpler product which users can use easily. Cons I know that this software is mostly used for on page purpose. However, if in the future, it also integrates more backlink data, it can evolve into a very awesome beast and be the ultimate SEO tool. At the moment, the backlink data is limited but it's not a deal breaker. It's not perfect, but as a small business owner I know very little about SEO and cannot afford a high-priced agency to help me. Surfer SEO has helped me start improving my SEO presence. Pros The scoring system and the ability to create content editors that include questions and some of the competitive sites that rank high for the particular keyword/phrase. It enables you to create an outline and provides a framework for your article/blog. Cons Some of the concepts used to score an article are somewhat difficult to understand. For example, NLP(natural language processing). The software scores it, but it's hard to understand how it is scoring your article on the concept. Pros I like that I can do nearly all the research I need to do - easily - and then turn Surfer over to my writers to write fantastic articles. Also love the new integration with conversion.ai. But it came on the recommendation of a friend of mine who is an SEO genius. He told me I should start a blog if I wanted to make money online, so I said ok. Pros Surfer has impressed me. After using other tools, I can say that surfer tools do a great job at optimizing SEO content. It is certainly very useful to be able to see a count of related keywords to know how to use them in detail to rank. It literally makes it easy for the writer to follow keyword directions. Cons I don't know if you've encountered this before but for some reason it experiences some glitches that erases all the stuff I've written. Like when I'm writing a particular article, if I switch tabs or sometimes just on its own it reloads (saying that the connection was interrupted) and then all of a sudden everything is gone. It's odd because I'm using an actual ethernet cable which makes my internet connection faster than just using a wireless one. I'm not sure why this is occurring, but it just happened again right now. Even if I press undo over and over, the words I've written don't come back. What concerns me is that this might become a repetitive cycle, forcing me to screenshot my work all the time. Cons There's nothing specific to Surfer about this, but SEO content software may be difficult, and the keywords may not be relevant to the niche in which you're trying to rank. It has now become an essential SEO tool for me, that is used with every blog post I write. It helps to significantly improve articles, especially for keywords and keyword density. When combined with Jasper (formerly Jarvis), is when it really takes your writing to another level, saving time, and money, while producing high-quality content which can be published, indexed, and ranked faster. Cons I like everything about Surfer, but the one thing is that perhaps the Basic package could include more monthly content editors for the price, than just 10. Review Source Lindsey B. I love the writing optimization tool that ranks your content in real-time. It's simple, straightforward. It's also nice that the group on Facebook is so open to feedback, offering training, and answering questions! Makes you feel like you're not lost in some confusing, expensive software, but rather part of a community. They allow you to connect your Google Search Console for the Content Planner tool, which is a cool feature. Cons It was a little challenging to figure out how to really analyze keyword trends after coming from SEMrush. I hope they will update their analytics to include more visual data/graphs, as the results are (for now) simple and linear. Simple is good for beginners but I'd love to see them expand this.
