Since using it, my SEO rankings have noticeably improved. I also don't have to guess which phrases to include and how often they should appear. Pros There are two main things I love about this software. (1) The ability to analyze competitor's content and (2) the editor that lets me know which words and headers to include in my content. Cons The thing I like least about this software is some of the functionality of the content editor. Sometimes unrelated words and phrases are included as terms to include. But to be fair, I can choose to excluded these words. It also seems that when Surfer analyzes the length of competitor content, the comments are included. So, it sometimes recommends that my content length is longer than it really needs to be. Review Source Stefan F. Pros The content editor is where you can craft your article to reach the best-recommended keyword density and get ranked on Google. Cons The major thing that I did not like is that you are limited to the number of articles you can create monthly (or yearly). You should be able to purchase additional article credits up to the next tier level. Reason for choosing Surfer It is integrated with Jasper.ai, which is a huge selling point for me. The tech support and customer service is friendly and makes sure they help you. They've quickly added new cities when desired for audits, as well as helped me make sure I'm on the right account type. Pros Surfer makes it super easy to audit my site's current performance. The audit also gives me important tips to increase the likelihood that our site will be #1 in the search results for that specific keyword. Cons The number of content editors and audits is kind of low. I have friends who are on an unlimited plan, which would make it much easier to bang out a ton of work fast. Now I'm forced to pace myself. When we were optimizing/producing a couple of pages a week, I can now work on several pages in the same day. Pros Love the Content Editor and Content Planner the most. This is where I do most of my work in Surfer. I also really like the Chrome extension that can be used with Google Docs. Cons I want the content to transfer with the creation of a Google Doc from Surfer, or when creating content in Jarvis and then it transfers to Surfer if it has been connected to the Content Editor. They cleared up some confusion I had and everything is working well. I also like the Surfer Academy that teaches how to use the tool and some good concepts that you can apply with it. Pros I love the audit feature. I have a lot of articles on a site that are full of good information, but they aren't presented in an optimal fashion for search results. Surfer allows me to audit my pages and it makes recommendations I can easily implement to improve my rankings. Cons I'm not in love with the credit system. It reduces my ability to work in a bulk mode, doing one stage at a time for multiple articles. When you pay a thousand dollars for a service, you don't want to mess around with credits that limit your options. Cons Sometimes the keywords suggested are a little strange and difficult to make sound natural in sentences. This doesn't happen often and is a minor grievance. The keyword and article formatting suggestions are super helpful, and they definitely make a difference where SEO is concerned. Cons Although the keyword suggestions are relevant and helpful the majority of the time, they do seem a bit irrelevant sometimes. It also seems like once you've reached a certain score, the score doesn't increase by as much, even if you use a lot of different suggested terms or change the header/paragraph formatting. You get some great ideas with the browser extension and content planner for sure. But those seem to be slightly limited compared to others. Biggest value is in the content editor IMO. Surfer SEO's Content Editor helped us fast-track and automate the optimization process. Before publishing each article, we run the draft through Content editor to optimize TF IDF and most of our articles, I would say around 70-80%, are able to rank in top 10 within 2 weeks. Cons Surfer's SEO keyword research was a bit hard to use with a lot of metrics and it's not really intuitive. Reason for choosing Surfer The best tool for NLP and TF IDF optimization at the moment.
