Pros

Seems to have everything I need. I like the way quoting and jobs are separated. I like the different modules.

Cons

Reports. Additional costs for reports is out of the normal business relm. We should be able to run any kind of report we need.

Aerospace for 5 years and Consultant 9 years I had plenty experience for JobBOSS. Crystal Reports, JBUD Reports, SQL Server Reporting Services, and using JobBOSS. I highly recommend JobBOSS for a jobshop.

The various modules are integrated so you can easily lookup information. Also, the support provided by Shoptech is fantastic.

Cons

Sometimes we struggle to fully utilize the Scheduling module with our operation's complex scheduling challenges.

It has great features which makes it easy to create new items, quotes, and even adding of shop users during setup or later on. The customer support is very good at attending to issues.

Cons

Actually the price is expensive and also, its customization and support is also expensive even though the software is really good.

Cons

The accounting side of E2 could be better. Report selection and getting balance sheet and income statement information needs to be easier to accomplish.

We would never use any other system but E2 simply because of how user-friendly it is. It facilitates any task while maintaining traceability within the jobs. It has everything we need to run a successful machine shop. Technical support has been very helpful in answering any questions we may have. They either provide instructions or simply walk us through any procedure. Our Sales Representative has been awesome and it has been a pleasure to interact with him. He is always willing to answer questions and assist us in any way. Overall, we have been very pleased with E2 and would highly recommend to anyone needing an efficient, easy to use ERP System.

Pros

The best feature of E2 software is the ability to "route" a part for kitting. This program will allow item to be linked to a part number for kitting purposes.

Cons

The accounting is complicated but it may be that I am not an accountant.

We decided to go with E2 almost 4 years ago, and could not be happier with the decision. We are a metal fab shop that handles large production rollout packages, as well as custom jobs that might be only one piece. Running a shop like that takes software that enables us to change on the fly without a lot of additional system work. E2 allows us to make the difficult production changes quick and easy in our shop floor software. The added bonus was that we not only got the shop floor software we needed that works with our current structure, we also got the accounting software in one package. Before E2 we were using two different types of software and a lot of spreadsheets. Since installing E2 we are down to one piece of software and have greatly reduced the need for additional spreadsheets. This has made us a more efficient company, enabling us to better serve our customers.

I have been thoroughly impressed with the system, it's ease of use and set up has been impressive. All of the support staff from implementation to help desk have been so helpful and made this experience a little less intimidating.

Pros

Ease of use, forgiving nature - mistakes can be corrected easily. Set up was also simple and made implementation a little easier.

Cons

I would like the ability to give read access to some of the modules but it seems you have to give all or none in regards to permissions. This has caused us a little heartburn.

Pros

Very new to the software but seems to help condense a lot of the busy work I had to do in the past.

Cons

Seems to be fine so far, just having to learn it is the difficult part. Customer service has been very helpful.

Our company manufactures parts for the Aerospace and Energy industries. We are a small 20-25 person operation. We began using E2 Shop System in 2008. We were looking for a manufacturing software program that would assist us in all areas of the company including accounting, production, and quality. E2 is exactly what we needed. It has provided everything we need for financial information, including job-costing information. It has provided everything we need for production from the quoting process to the shipment process, including scheduling, material traceability, etc. Our company is ISO 9001:2008 and AS9100 certified. The Quality module on E2 has made tracking quality issues easy. If I had to choose one thing about E2 that I like the best it would be the customer service. The customer service that E2 Shop System provides is far better than any other company I have dealt with.

Being a growing business, we took our time to shop for the right product. We were tracking everything we did using spreadsheets and homemade forms. The installation was easy, and anytime we have had to contact technical support their response has been immediate and helpful. We have been on E2 for over a year now. We installed the Shop system with the Quality module and time clock system. This has been an extremely worthwhile investment. We also became AS9100C certified shortly after installing E2. The software helps us to be in compliance with all regulations and keeps the record needed to maintain our certifications. We are also using the bar code scanning feature. Employees scan all their operations and progress throughout the day. Easy to manage, user friendly and all the right information on my desk top. This is the software to have in the machine shop environment.

Cons

If you have an accounting background, the programming doesn't always make sense. However, it can be worked out.

We have been using the E2 for almost 10 years. It was very simple to implement and is easy to navigate. Customer service is great!

Pros

Very simply to use. However, we were not able to sync E2 with QuickBooks so our accounting and payroll are still being done in QuickBooks. We are a job shop so things move very quickly. From quoting a job to work orders to shipping, it all can be done fairly quickly and easily.

Cons

Reports lack customization for our specific needs, it can be done but there is a cost for that.

We use E2 by Shoptech. We went live in June of 2006, and we've been extremely pleased ever since. We bought all modules and run everything from quoting through financials through the system. We are a true job shop with a very high variety of parts with extremely low volumes. Trying to find an ERP that met our needs was very difficult. We spent a year evaluating several systems, traveled to a number of demonstrations, and concluded that E2 was our best bang for the buck. We believe that we made our money back in about 6 months, and we've been extremely profitable ever since. Their support is excellent, and the training they provide is very thorough. Their call center is staffed with very knowledgeable customer service reps. Usually, calls into support centers are not even worth the time and end up being very frustrating: not so with Shoptech.

We are a midsized manufacturers of springs and wire forms, located in Brantford Ontario, Canada. We have used E2 for all facets of our business snake 2000 starting with the access version and progressing to the SQL version several years ago. Implementation of the system had a few bumpy patches but shop tech was able to help us through those areas, especially concerning currency conversions, GST, and other multicountry and currency issues. The system is relatively easy to use and we can usually get new employees up and running within a few weeks. The only module we have not been able to get running to our satisfaction is the scheduling, which is as much our fault as their's because of the way our customers schedule releases and the way we run our business. I still recommend the system manually other businesses in the area and several have adopted.

I have worked with E2 Shop Systems for 16+ years, I can't say enough about the program or the support! Top notch! When I moved to Tennessee about 14 years ago, my current employer was using Quick Books and it just wasn't doing the job we needed for our shop so when software talk started I explained the ease of E2 and all the shop floor control that it had. We still use Quick Books for our accounting but E2 for everything else.

Pros

Easy to use! The support they offer is great. What ever your is they are quick to react to your needs.

Cons

I really can't think of any

This system is great for a pure manufacturer or a MFG/Resell operation. It is probably fine for pure resell also, but overkill for this. Highly recommended.

Pros

This is very fluid. From initial customer contact, through invoicing. It forms a completely solid chain of events (traceability). It is relatively easy to use from start to finish. Tech support is amazing and worth the investment. Features are quite customizable. System can accomodate manufactured parts, as well as pure resell items.

Cons

It has idiosyncrocies, that once you figure them out, you can circumvent/avoid, but there is a learning curve associated with these. More in depth features are more difficult to use effeciently.

I like this software because it is easy to use and has a lot of room for growth. Very easy to track jobs and inventory materials for projects. I like that you can log parts and projects so if you do them again they are already in the system.

Pros

Time and Job tracking, inventory materials

Cons

Tax settings on quotes do not have a line item for calculating tax into projects. Sometimes the software will crash right in the middle of entering a job. Can be very slow at times. Takes to long to regenerate/ update or switch pages.

This software has a great capacity for customization, which is great for a shop like ours that does very few repeat orders and has relaxed relationships with many of our customers.

Cons

It is a very complex software bundle, and if you don't have anyone in your company assigned to handle the intricacies, you will find the system to be rather frustrating.

So far I'm pleased with your product. As with any product, there are things that are great about it and things that are not. Since every business is different, some things may work well for your needs and others not so much. We only use it to route parts thru our shop. We don't use it for any P&L financial reporting.

Pros

Once you've figured out how to use the software, you can build estimates relatively quickly.

Cons

It's not the most intuitive software to use. It has taken some time to learn how to make the software work for our needs.
