Without it, and with rates and expectations being what they are, it would be difficult to work efficiently enough, at least some of the time. Though the product is intended for general use, it really is the gold standard for translators - at least in the languages I work with - in particular due to the easy integration with various CAT tools. For all it offers, the price is more than worth it. Pros DeepL not only produces great output, but it does a great job of parsing and adapting to context. As such, unlike some other tools, it actually helps translators do their jobs better - not just faster. It has improved over time, proving that the machine learning model does work for MT. Cons The desktop client could be a bit more feature-rich and reliable, but it's certainly not bad - it just seems a bit 'beta'. Of course, the engine does make some mistakes, but once you use it enough, you can usually predict where they will occur. Integrating with CAT tools through the API makes these foibles easier to address.
