It is way better than saving multiple different passwords on the phone. Pros It is one of the safest way to authenticate myself that I am the authorized user to gain access to app/tool/software/database. Passwords can be hacked, imprints could be stored but gaining access for an unauthorized person via Microsoft Authenticator is not possible. Cons It works with internet connection so if I don’t have internet connection for whatever reasons, I can’t open Microsoft Authenticator and thus can’t gain access to other applications secured by it. Pros I like that its a barrier that helps with anyone who may be trying to get into your stuff. Like for me noone can access my workday which is what i use for work, i love that in order to access workday you have to use this with their code they give in order to login! Cons The only thing i can think of, and its not so much bad but more of an inconvenience then anything. I totally recommend it to anyone who has a Microsoft account, it will keep your account safe and secure. Pros Before Microsoft authenticator, I relied on just a password, I went to log into my Microsoft account one day and I was hacked, I finally regained access to my account and I immediately downloaded Microsoft authenticator and It has been the best thing ever. It sends notifications straight to my phone if my Microsoft account is attempted to be logged into and if it's not me I just have to hit deny. It is important to keep the app updated as older version may have issues Pros I use Microsoft Authenticator on my mobile phone as 2FA for several web services. The interface is clean and the app is easy to use (it may remember another popular authenticator app) and allows you to sign in to e.g. 365 services with additional security (in many cases 2FA is mandatory) but also on third party product (I use Microsoft Authenticator on Sonicwall Products as it is supported as TOTP). To create a new association, just follow the instructions on screen. If you have troubles or need additional information, you will easily find answers searching on internet. Cons The fact you get stuck in a catch 22 loop of needing the app to generate a code for you to get into the app. End up having to talk to IT all the time and get them to reset it. It's ridiculous.
