There are USB dongles available from Yubikey (and others). They're great, but they're easy to forget. I always have my phone with me, though. Anytime I'm logging into Gmail, Amazon, etc from a new device, I just have use my fingerprint to open the app and get a 6-digit code. Type that in after your password, and you're in. It's not a huge inconvenience, but it guarantees I won't have a hacker trying to guess my password. The app itself is incredibly simple to use. There aren't a million features, but it does what it is supposed to do perfectly. Pros Authenticator makes Two-Factor Authentication fast and easy. It's worth it for peace of mind especially if you handle large purchases on behalf of a large company. Cons There was a recent update that went from having the authenticator ask you to click approve on your phone to now requiring an additional step of scanning your fingerprint that's in your phone or putting your phones lock screen pin which is quite annoying to me. However, 2 blackouts during 6 months period without any warning or backup plan show how unprepared it is to be used as a sole gatekeeper for a corporation. Pros The application is available on mobile (iOS & Android). We specifically use it for VPN access and it gives users many options to authorize access includes passwordless, one-time passcode, or biometric authorization. The authenticator has a straightforward design and user friendly. Cons The Microsoft server was blackout twice during the last 6 months. During that time, no one can log in to the system.
