This operates as a two factor authentication tool and it requires password and mobile phone to get the code generated by this app. So attackers won't be able to login since the attacker doesn't have the mobile device to get the code. Only having two apps separately for mobile and computer is time wasting. Pros I am using Authenticator every day to connect VPN. You receive new passowrd each day and connect with it. It is necessary app for my daily work. Cons The only negative thing is that it is a separate software when you connect mobile. I need to load an open Microsoft Intune for my mobile to open my mailbox and other files. But when you connect from computer, you use Authenticator. I don't understand why they are not a one app only. Pros I've used Authenticator for 2+ years now (since the pandemic) and it has been a useful tool for providing sign-on protection to both Outlook and Teams chat. No problems using it whatsoever. Pros For my work, I use quite a number of software and applications requiring secure logins. And syncing all my devices for convenience greatly increases my risks for unauthorized access. Microsoft authenticator changed that and made my management of access codes and passwords much easier. The extra layer of security provided certainly doesn't hurt. Cons There is nothing I dislike about this software. It does exactly what I need without too much fuss and complication. Pros It keeps accounts secure. This simply works. It sends near instantaneous text messages, and the app is stable. Multifactor authentication isn't rocket science, and this keeps it easy. Cons It can be difficult to explain how to use a standalone authenticator app to older coworkers, however this is easily mitigated by either texting the code or sitting down with them. There seems to be helpful hints located in the app and in the pop up on the computer if you’re confused as to what you need to do. Pros I like that this software is easy to use once you have downloaded the app. When you go to open up your email a pop-up will appear from the software asking you to check your app to approve the sign in. It’s been as easy as getting your fingerprints or putting in a pin and approving access and then you should be good for the rest of your login. Cons The software does require you to be able to download an app onto our device so that you can verify your identity. This could prove problematic if you have people who still use flip phones. It doesn't have all the advanced features of some other managers but for being free with my office software it's worth the loss of those features. Pros I love how it syncs seamlessly with Microsoft Edge browser while also keeping all my 2FA codes. It makes sense to just have them in one place. Cons If you switch devices often, restoring from backup is a bit of a pain if you don't already know to skip the default setup screen to get to where you can chose to restore from backup.
